4 Bedrooms, 1 Bath . 3+ Acres In A Great Lake Bomoseen Location Near Everything
We bought the home as a weekend retreat.. Our family enjoyed Winter weekends skiing Killington & Pico and Summer at the beach, fishing on the lake, playing badminton and entertaining family friends who came to visit.
Alison purchased this House in 1971
Why Alison chose Bomoseen
It is a one-of-a-kind property and we fell in love with the idea of a horse barn being converted to a residence! It struck us as so reflective of historic Vermont. The property size of 3+ acres also appealed to us as a 'playground' for our boys. We played baseball & badminton in the Summer and went sledding in the Winter and it was a great place to invite friends to visit.
What makes this House unique
Just about everything you need for a vacation is there and you have a choice of so many things to do, either on site or sight-seeing around Vermont. It is also such a comfortable place to 'hang out'. There is a fireplace for cool days, plenty of room to play in the basement or outdoors + there is always Wi-Fi and TV.

Great vacation house!
We had a great time staying in this cute renovated horse barn! The location was excellent for visiting family that lived nearby. The house was in excellent condition and worked well with our family of 6. We will definitely try to stay here again next year!
I'm so glad you had a good time! The 'barn' is one of my favorite spots! Wonderful family memories there.
The owner had made all kinds of thoughtful provisions including umbrellas, basic kitchen needs, tourist information etc. The only reason not to give it five stars is that the stairs to the second storey were quite treacherous - no hand rail near the bottom and uneven. Also, there were unexpected steps into and in the middle of one of the upstairs bedrooms. We loved the downstairs area - Large characterful living area and well-supplied kitchen. A few extra towels would have been nice in the bathroom. We noticed there were very few outlets so plug-in bars would be useful for guests to bring (or owner to provide) The house is in a beautiful setting and very quiet. Despite the difficulty for the two people staying upstairs it served our purpose well.
Thanks for the input. Will do.
The cottage was a great and exactly as described. My family was in town for a wedding at the Lake Bomoseen Lodge and Tap Room and it was an easy drive and convenient location to town. Great place with all amenities to stay in and enjoy family time and very cozy.
July 2019 week stay
Our family of four; 12 and 5 year old children, loved this property. It truly had everything. The natural rustic feel inside with the barn doors was fun for the kids. We spread out between all the bedrooms and enjoyed the well stocked kitchen that had all the pots, pans and utensils for all of our cooking. The yard is huge with beautiful old trees, plenty of room for baseball and badminton, outdoor fire pit, picnic table and grill. Just amazing. We visited Rutland, Burlington, lake dunmore, crystal beach and more spots during our stay. It was incredibly comfortable, clean, inviting and relaxing. We would definitely return!
Charming Restored Barn Home
Very comfortable and lovely redo of a horse barn. Well kept.
Would recommend it to anyone.
For us it was near the places we visit when in Vermont.
We stayed at the cottage for my nephew's graduation. It was close to Middlebury College and family in Rutland. The cottage very clean and has everything you need. We had a great stay!
Great setting for Fall 'leaf-peeping'. The house is set on 3+ acres within walking distance to Lake Bomoseen. Drive North or South Route 30 for great views. Mountain bike @ Killington, outlet shop in Manchester (45 min.), antique shop, visit Fort Ticonderoga or Middlebury(28 mi.), Shelburne Museum etc.Horse-back riding @ Pond Hill Ranch in Castleton. Winter you can ski locally or go north to Sugarbush or Stowe, ice-fish & skate on the Lake. At the house there are indoor & outdoor games and lots of land to play on. Fair Haven is a short drive for stores and supermarket but there are small grocery stores just a short distance from the house too.
