About Tim and Abbie Clark - Owners

We both love to scuba dive and snorkel, and Hawaii has some of the best areas to do just that. Which is why we picked this house. We want other people around the world to enjoy what we have discovered here in Hawaii and enjoy it, and our home, as much as we do.

Tim and Abbie Clark - Owners purchased this house in 2001

Why Tim and Abbie Clark - Owners chose Kona Coast

When we were looking for homes on the Big Island, this one stood out from the others we looked at. The location was perfect, not to far away from Kona and the beaches, but still has that country feel and the privacy that we were looking for.

We were getting tired of the hotel scene, too many people, too much noise and just not the privacy that we were looking for when we vacation. We wanted more of a home feel where we knew we could relax and recharge. And that is exactly what we found here. We know that you will feel the same way the minute you walk in.

The layout of the home and the size of the rooms just had the 'Wow' factor we were looking for. That's actually what we said as soon as we walked in was, 'WOW', so we knew it was for us. We know that you will feel the same way when you walk thru front entry door.

We feel at home here, after a long day exploring all that Hawaii has to offer. We love to scuba dive and snorkel, and we are just minutes away from some of the best diving and snorkel sites. And the when you come home there is plenty of room for everyone to relax and hang out, and the pool and hot tub are just the thing to have to make the end of the day great, while watching the sun set over the ocean, which is always so spectacular to see. Truly Paradise!!

What makes this house unique

The location of the home is perfect! Only a short drive (7-8 minutes) to wonderful pristine waters to snorkel, swim and kayak and in the same amount of time will find grocery, fruit stands, gas, and restaurants. Personally, we have enjoyed the peaceful quality of the neighborhood and home as a sanctuary, far from the busy-ness of the world yet convenient enough to hop in the car to pick up take-out, a movie or even an afternoon latte.

Lovely home and location

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful home for my family of 9 adults for 10 days. There was plenty of room and space for all of us. Loved the covered lanai on the back. This is a great location- close enough to Kona and beaches but far enough from all the hustle and bustle. We were able to explore all of the island from here. The house is well taken care of and is in a beautiful location -- more tropical than the Kohala coast area. We would definitely rent this home again. Thanks Tim and Abbie.

Excellent property and location!

Easy drive to many beaches, hikes and harbors. Did the FairWinds snorkel tour and two days of sport fishing. Visited Pu'uhona O Honaunau Park, Volcano, Diving cliffs, Kona and more. This was a great home base and couldn't ask for better accommodations. All necessities are provided to make your stay feel like home. Our party of nine had a great time and would do it again. Thank you Tim and Abbie!

This house is overwhelming. It met and surpassed every thought I had.

Location was great, and so was the house. From the pool to jacuzzi to the well stocked house, me and my family didn't want for nothing.

Pots and pans, to cups and forks, to even some complimentary beverages, this house was fully loaded, and clean!

I would stay here again, and I would recommend to friends, family, and to strangers!

First time trip to Hawaii - will be back!

  • 5 of 5

We really loved visiting Hawaii, and enjoyed staying at Tim and Abby's home. It is very well cared for, incredibly spacious and really has everything you could possibly need! Our family rents homes frequently for vacation, and this one was one of the best equipped houses we have visited. Everything you could ever need and more! The home is in the country, so it is a little bit of a hike to Kona/Kailua. Plan for this if you are going on any excursions, etc as the traffic here is an adjustment! One of the residents that we met referred to it as the "Kona Crawl", which is accurate. There are plenty of great places to visit nearby, though, so you have lots of options. Hookena Beach is amazing! It was our favorite by far and very close. We tried the Coffee Shack and the Kona Cafe for breakfast - also awesome!

We had our close friends and neighbors with us on this trip, and there was plenty of room for all. We have three boys, they have two, and all of them had space to hang out, play and swim. Really wonderful property. We will definitely be returning to Hawaii, as we fell in love with all that it has to offer!

The property is stunning, spacious and personally inviting.

  • 5 of 5

There is space for everyone with vistas and retreat. Each of the five bedrooms has individual character and only one bedroom has to share a bathroom so there is ample privacy. The communal living spaces are well designed for many to work together in the kitchen while others participate setting the table or sitting at the bar. The living room is a large comfortable space for games, movies or work at a desk in an adjacent nook. The finished second story deck is an outdoor room a high table for eating while others sit, chat and enjoy the view from comfortable couches. Below the house is the pool area with more of the magnificent views as well as a hot tub and cabaña of comfy chairs to sit in the shade and enjoy. The gardens surrounding the house and pool area are full of exotic species and beautiful tropical flowers. The neighborhood below has an incredible botanical garden - Paleaku Peace Garden - and above on Route 11 are great coffee shops - The Coffee Shack has yummy food and views while Menehune also has good food and coffee. The Strawberry Patch in Captain Cook was a culinary delight. The Captain Cook Farmer's Market adjacent the ACE Hardeware and ChoiceMart super market has treasures of all kinds. If you drink beer, the Kona Brewing Company serves good food (large servings) and on Sunday has live music but also does not take reservations on Sunday. We recommend reservations. The house is private and calm but not far from everywhere. We went to beaches north of Kona, Mauna Loa Volcano but we did not have 4-wheel drive to go all the way to top (with rental car approval), Hilo, Kilauea Volcano but mostly we loved the area near this home, the Two Step Beach for snorkeling and The Place of Refuge National Historic Park. We only scratched the surface in exploring, all with great pleasure!

A House to fit all needs.

  • 5 of 5

I was on vacation with 4 of my nieces/nephews. The house and property far exceeded any of our needs. We felt more than comfortable with 5 people, but there was enough house and space for a much larger group. We went to many attractions on the island, but made a point to spend a couple of days staying at the property. The owners were great. I would rent the property again. Very peaceful and private, but close to stores and restaurants.
