About Gary Hill

I am a retired restaurant design/engineer. I have spent most of my working life in southern California but also 15 years in Guam and Hawaii. After retiring I have spent the last 10 years doing adventures I didn't have time for when I was younger. I've thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail and the Israeli National Trail. Also bicycled across our country three times. I've climbed Mt Kilimanjaro in Africa and Mt Fuji in Japan. I am an AT trail maintainer and boundary monitor and also volunteer at the Appalachian Trail Conservancy Visitors Center in Harpers Ferry. I also spend much of my time in Metro DC with my fiance Taeko.

Gary Hill purchased this bungalow in 2012

Wonderful Experience

We had a great weekend! House was clean, well-maintained, with a lovely garden. Great jumping off point for hiking and biking, being so close to town. Would definitely come again.

Quiet, quaint and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Our family really felt comfortable and at home. The back sitting area was a nice relaxing atmosphere. My hubby definitely rested there a lot. My daughter left her swim suit and Gary mailed it to us. Fantastic!

Very relaxing, cozy, comfortable, many nice touches in the cottage, well stocked, shady location.

  • 5 of 5

Stay was so enjoyable because of nice touches in furniture selection and placement, wall decor, well stocked, especially kitchen, lovely seating areas in front and back of cottage; gazebo is particularly nice. Very convenient to Harpers Ferry, Charles Town and other sites. Roku was a great plus for entertainment. Cottage just proclaims great care and attention to detail by owner. Enjoyed our vacation!
