4 Bed/ 4 Bath Minutes From Downtown Gatlinburg

Bear Paws - Located just minutes from downtown Gatlinburg, the Ober Gatlinburg Ski Lodge and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. 'Bear Paws' is about 3 miles from downtown Gatlinburg in the Chalet Village community.

The large wooded lot provides excellent beauty and noise is practically non-existent in this area. The chalet is a beautiful 3 story modified A-Frame with 3 full levels. You will enjoy 2 wood burning fireplaces ( 1 in the main living room and 1 one in the rec. room). 4 private bedrooms to accomodate 8 guests comfortably. There are 2 bedrooms on the main level and 2 bedrooms upstairs. 1 full bath on each level. The lower level has a huge rec. room with pool table, ping pong table, plenty of lounge seating, cable tv and a wood burning firplace.

The kitchen is fully equipped with all the necessary appliances including stove/oven, refrigerator, dishwashwer, microwave, coffee maker, toaster etc. All cook ware and plate ware is provided. Towels and linens are provided as well. All you need to supply are the groceries. (Or skip the cooking while you are on vacation and enjoy one of the fantastic restaurants in downtown Gatlinburg).

Just out back and tucked under a covered gazebo, is the 4 - 6 seater hot tub to soak your cares away after a busy day.

About 2 miles away is Ober Gatlinburg, a beautiful ski resort with excellent ski slopes, a large indoor ice skating rink, restarurants, lounges and even a bear zoo. The aeirial tram to Ober Gatlinburg takes you directly to the heart of downtown in 15 minutes and can be seen from the chalet as it passes overhead.

Rebecca Helton answered my questions when I first called, made me feel comfortable, and made the booking process on-line very easy. Family really enjoyed the hot tub, ping pong and pool tables. Dining table with eight chairs accommodated our group perfectly. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes, flatware, pots & pans, etc. Appreciated having a starting supply of toilet tissue, soaps, paper towels, etc. Very convenient having a washer and dryer, and an ice maker in the refrigerator. A generous supply of towels, etc was appreciated. We had plenty of blankets and pillows. Light Switch labeling was a convenience which eliminated frustration. Loved the deck to sit in the rockers and watch the Trams go up and down the mountain. We were thrilled to see a Mama Bear with four cubs enjoying the lush green lawn next door for a few minutes about 6:45 p.m. on Friday April 1st. Overall we had a wonderful visit at the Chalet although the trip up and down the mountain was winding and got more narrow the higher we went, but the road was in good shape - it was just more narrow than we were use to.

Great family home

  • 4 of 5

The home is really up the steep mountain roads - so put on a brave face and go! It was perfectly suited in the woods. A beautiful location away from the "city" noise and lights, yet close enough that you can easily access everything. Just don't forget your supplies, the roads are a bit difficult to navigate at night due to the lack of lighting and the many switchbacks required to get there. The home itself is a bit dated but comfortable. The kids loved the ping pong and pool table in the basement - enough so that they ignored the WII that is available there. Beds were comfortable and plenty of space for our family of 7 to have space without running on top of each other. There are 4 bedrooms - 2 on the 2nd floor and 2 on the 3rd floor - both with full bathrooms and bonus - there is a 3rd bathroom in the basement area. The kitchen has everything needed to feed everyone easily. Roomy and comfortable is how I describe the whole property. We did site a bear walking down the road, so don't leave out anything you want to keep whole and make sure to use the provided bear proof garbage receptacles. Access to the home was easy with the digital key pad and the access code given at the completed payment worked easily. Communication with the owner was clear and concise. We would use this rental again.

Very comfortable house to stay in...close to everything, yet secluded enough for privacy.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed the house very much. Big enough for our large family to spread out and all have our own space. Kids really enjoyed the ping pong table and the pool table. We all enjoyed the hot tub. Decor a little outdated, however with lots of kids this made it feel comfortable. Definitely would recommend to anyone with a large family that wants a roomy yet cozy home away from home in the mountains.

Amazing Color Trip 10/22 - 10/25

  • 5 of 5

Bear Paws was the perfect place for our family to enjoy the fall color of the Great Smoky Mountains. The color of the trees around Chalet Village and across the entire region was fantastic. My wife and I were enjoying the crisp fall evening on the balcony after putting the kids to bed and a black bear decided to take a stroll through the yard, around our van and up the hill to the backside of the property. It was amazing to see this animal from the safety of the balcony as it made its way up the hill. The location of Bear Paws can't be beat - quick drive up to Ober Gatlinburg to enjoy the lifts and alpine slide, and easy access to the National Park without going through the downtown Gatlinburg zone. We would definitely recommend this location for a family vacation.

We Love This House

  • 5 of 5

This house a very family friendly and spacious. The house is in a great private location and is very comfortable. We visited with our 2 young kids (3 and 4) who loved it there! The home is just close enough to downtown area which has all types of the shops, restaurants and activities. We were able to use the kitchen to make most of our meals, this was really important for our family. We were also able to do laundry when needed and with young kids that is always needed. It is a quick drive up the mountain, where we went to ride the tram from Ober Mountain down to downtown, where we were able to enjoy the shops without having to worry about parking and then back up on the tram when we were done. One of our favorite things was enjoying the sun rise from the balcony each morning. We very much enjoyed our vacation and would recommend this rental property.
