Beautiful new log home for a getaway
My wife and I went to this cabin to get away to the country and enjoy my birthday weekend in a log home. We were immediately met with the smell of fresh pine logs, since the cabin is still so new. Wonderful! It felt so fresh and comfortable--a great place for the two of us to stay and relax and do hiking. The hot tub was in great shape, and the couches were super comfy. The owners were great about communicating whenever we had a question. We hiked the trails on the property, which were very nice, and we also went to the Vinton furnace trails about 20 minutes away for a 6 mile hike. Super beautiful hike--even in January! Just a couple of things to be aware of when renting based on our experience: -remember, there is no dishwasher. -The owners graciously installed a dedicated 120V 20amp circuit by the driveway so we could charge our electric car at a Level 1 rate while we were there. -The heating system does have its challenges. First, the blower sounds like it is on supercharge mode and is quite loud. The owners said unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done about that, and they are sorry the HVAC system came with a supercharged blower. The other issue is that we stayed on a fairly cold weekend with lows in the teens. The heat was set at 68 but could not keep up. In the morning it was 63 degrees. It is a heat pump, so that can be an issue in cold weather. -Also, the pictures online don't show it, but there is a neighbor's house across the pond.
