Log Home, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Loft, Great Room w Wood Fireplace, Game Room

Location: Killington, Vermont, USA (Boston 3hrs / NYC 4hrs - Woodstock 12mi / Rutland 18mi) View Map

Accommodations: Log Home, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Loft, Game Room, Comfortably Sleeps 12

Our home is nestled between Birch Mountain and the winding Ottaquechee River. It offers a perfect balance between nature and modern convenience.

Only a short walk to a number of natural beaver lodges, and located in an area known for moose sightings, our home welcomes you with an authentic brush of nature Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall.

Do not let the rich natural surroundings and native wildlife deceive you; there is much to do and see in the surrounding areas: we are located only 3 minutes from Killington's Skyship Gondola, 8 minutes from Pico, 15 minutes from Woodstock, and 20 minutes from Rutland or Okemo. Your possibilities are limitless: be it skiing, hiking, watching a movie, attending a concert, golfing, dining out, Beaver Lodge offers you a location with prime access to entertainment and recreation.

A bit of a homebody? No problem. There is still plenty to do: fish the many rivers and lakes in the vicinity (we angled a 20 lb. trout in front of the house), hike the hundreds of wooded acres behind the property, enjoy a bonfire, relax with a few lawn or board games located in our game chest, or simply chill, grill, and breath in the stress-free air on the covered porch. In our basement entertainment center, watch DVD or play video games on the 50 inch big screen TVs, play pool, foosball, shuffleboard, darts or cards.

The home has more than 2,000 square feet of living space on the first two floors and another 1,000 square feet in the entertainment center. The interior design offers an open, spacious, yet intimate, homey feel. Our modern kitchen flows into a warm dining space, and drifts into the spacious great room, perfect for conversation and relaxation. The pine-log construction, hardwood floors and dimmed lighting create an inviting, rustic ambiance reminiscent of the logger’s cabins that rested on the plot in the past. When the day darkens and cools, take advantage of our wood burning fireplace. Bask in the natural warmth and aromas of fresh pine, and let yourself plunge into the gentle, alluring simplicity of a well-stoked fire.

Enjoy our cozy accommodation: four leather recliners, an authentic birch rocker two six-foot pillow chairs and a double pillow sleeper. Listen to the stereo, or enjoy Fiber TV on our 50 inch flat panel. Take advantage of our music and video libraries to create your own perfect atmosphere.

If you are looking for privacy, retire to the loft, the second story bedroom or the private second-story chalet balcony. Chat in the Adirondack chairs, read in an oaken rocker, unwind in the massaging jets of the second-story tub or just melt into the soft queen-sized bed.

If you really can’t get away from it all, no worries. Our fiber wireless internet keeps you connected and Verizon Wireless receives four bars on our site.

Our home is friendly and functional. We located the mudroom away from all the activity, tucked into the walk out basement along with the washer, dryer and a wall mounted ironing board. We placed the clothes draws under beds and put closets in each bedroom so that nothing interferes with your enjoyment, and comfort on the two main floors.

We hope you stay with us. You will find the atmosphere intoxicating, you won’t want to leave, so please visit again.

Cheers, Ed and Linda

About the Owner

Linda and I (Ed) and our four boys have been visiting the Killington area, winter, spring, summer and fall since 1991. Vermont is a terrific complement to our lives on Long Island NY… mountains instead of beaches, cool breezes instead of the warm winds of the Atlantic, wide open and unexplored spaces instead of the cosmopolitan kaleidoscope of people and places. Each of us have only terrific memories and experiences in Vermont, skiing, tubing, swimming, hiking, biking, collecting, chatting… the list goes on… maybe that is why we love Vermont so much… so much to do… so much to experience. Our sons are now 21-29 and beginning to build lives of their own. Linda and I finally decided to take the plunge and create a spot where regardless of where the future may take our sons they have a place to return to that guarantees them some relaxation and fun. In 2008, we bought our dream site and built a log home for our family to enjoy year round. We stay here so the home is equipped for the owner (us) to live in. When we are not here we share our home with family, friends and individuals like yourself who find the Vermont experience as rewarding as we do. Come stay with us… return… maybe become a neighbor…

Perfect place.... close to everything yet nestled privately in the woods! ... We met your neighbor as he plowed the driveway ... so nice!! ... giant pillows were a huge hit... found great sledding at Mount Tom and the skiing was the best in years! ... hope to return. John, Jill and Family

Perfect Vermont Cabin

  • 5 of 5

I've been to this house in both winter and summer time. It is perfect for both. For the winter, its proximity to Killington is great, just a few miles to the lift. But when the weather was too nasty to ski, there's plenty to do inside the house and on the grounds of the property. Summer time we had just as much, if not more fun. The river and mountain on the property allow for lots of outdoor activities. The front porch, outdoor seating around the fire pit, and the Long Trail Brewery down the street are all fantastic places to enjoy a few frosty bronsons. The house was definitely worth the price of admission and it will not be the last time I visit.

Incredibly well-maintained and fun house set in a lovely spot

  • 5 of 5

The beaver lodge is impeccably decorated and the hosts Ed and Linda have left nothing to desire! Our family and a cousin's family stayed there for two nights as we attended a wedding in the area. My only wish as I walked out everyday was that I should have had more time to explore the area. Ed and Linda's pad will make an amazing base from which to explore the surrounding areas. Thank you for such an incredible stay :)

Perfect weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

I recently spent a weekend at the Beaver Lodge with a group of friends and can't rave enough about what a great time we had. The location is perfect - we were close to a grocery store, Long Trail Brewery, and restaurants. The cabin itself is beautiful and large. While the weather mostly cooperated, there were a few rainy days but there was so much to do in the cabin (movies, foosball, pool, darts, skeeball, etc etc etc), that we didn't even mind staying indoors. Just hanging out in the cabin was probably my favorite part of the trip. There's a great river right outside the cabin which is beautiful. It was a very pleasant and needed break from the fast-paced and sometimes crowded city of Charlotte, NC. Lots of fun times and memories made that weekend! I would come back in a heartbeat.

Amazing Log Cabin in Scenic Vermont

  • 5 of 5

Our entire group had an incredible time at Beaver Lodge! The cabin is stocked with everything you will ever need - movies, sports equipment, board games, table games, etc. The location is perfect - it's tucked away in a quiet, private area, but still close enough to great trails, a brewery, several restaurants, and a grocery store! We grilled out and had a bon fire during our stay, and we had an absolute blast! Next time I am in Vermont, I will be booking my stay at Beaver Lodge, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to have a fun, relaxing, or adventurous time in Vermont.

Beautiful cabin in the woods!

  • 5 of 5

I loved this place! This was my first visit to Vermont and I want to go back already because of this place! The sight and aroma of the log cabin provided me the feeling of extreme happiness at this mountainous paradise. From sitting in the rocking chair on the porch listening to the river flow and the birds chirp over some coffee (we even saw a fox walking down the road), to playing games in the man-cave with friends, there is nothing to disappoint! I absolutely loved the real fireplace inside the living room with comfy furniture. The house was extremely spacious for the group of friends we had (8) and had many amenities at the house to accommodate absolutely anyone. It is a great getaway adventure with a few towns close by and even a great local brewery with amazing food and beer. With many hikes/activities in the area, this location will satisfy any adventure spirit during the off season from skiing. The locals are even extremely friendly and helpful, which only added to my great experience in Vermont. I would love to come back to this place for another trip someday! You will be happy you stayed at the Beaver Lodge - I promise!!!

Heaven in Vermont

  • 5 of 5

Beaver Lodge is one of the most beautiful places I've been too! The log cabin sits in a beautiful valley and is surrounded by rivers and incredible nature. We were a group of 8 and had an incredible amount of room to hangout, lounge, cook and play games! There is so much room to sprawl out and hang around, it's quite relaxing. There is also a beautiful outdoor area with a campfire, hammock and seating for a large group. The country store and long trail brewing are right in the area too. We were able to get great food and drink at both places and cooked most of our dinners at beaver lodge! we couldn't have asked for a better time in Vermont and beaver lodge completed the trip! Definitely recommend for those looking to stay in the area.

From the Owner

Secluded two acres on the Ottaquechee River. Close to everything - Woodstock, Rutland and of course Killington and Pico - only a 5 minute drive to the Killington Base Lodge. In the summer tube from in front of the home to the Long Trail Brewery - 5 miles away, swim at nearby Echo and Union Lakes or golf at the many terrific courses. In Autumn walk the literally hundreds of acres behind the home and check out the magnificent foliage – sugar maple – white birch black locust. In Spring catalog the hundreds of wildflowers growing in the gardens on the property, build a bonfire in our fire pit and wait for the Moose. Our unique home has all the modern comforts yet is reminiscent of an earlier simpler time. Real log construction keeps you warm in the winter and cooler in the summer through the natural process of radial heating. Relax with friends in the great room with a real wood fireplace or sit quietly, read and observe the goings on below form the loft. The covered deck is perfect to observe the wildlife or grill in any season and if you want more privacy the 2nd floor balcony and master bedroom will definitely do the trick. The home has all wood floors and is practical yet elegant. It is fully furnished and outfitted and can easily accommodate a large group (we are a family of 6 and if everyone brings a friend that will make it 12 – no problem. We follow the National Park Service rules: “Carry In – Carry Out – Leave Only Footprints”
