Classic San Francisco Pied-À-Terre

Wonderful! 4.9/5 -

Property Details

Updated: Aug 18, 2016
Apartment, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

This unique property, which was originally constructed in 1908, was completely rebuilt and decorated in 2009. The rebuilding kept intact the apartment's classic San Franciscan style as well as its feel. The flat is located in the heart of Telegraph Hill's North Beach area, San Francisco's most desirable location due to its uniquely good weather, sun exposure and centrality to many of the city's most attractive features. The apartment's positioning on Telegraph Hill places it steps below Coit Tower, a location that allows for breathtaking views of the San Francisco skyline.

The property has a living/dining room, kitchen, 1 bedroom, 1 full bath, and a large roof terrace. The living/dining area enjoys southern light exposure year-round and has spectacular views of both Nob Hill and Russian Hill through its large windows. The kitchen itself is equipped with a new 24' Viking range, 24' high end apartment refrigerator, and a high quality Bosch dishwasher. The bedroom is above a quiet street and the bathroom has a full shower and claw foot tub. The terrace has full sun and has a peek-a-boo view of the Golden Gate bridge.

North Beach is a wonderful part of San Francisco characterized by its culture and nightlife. There is an abundance of restaurants, shopping and tourist destinations within walking distance from the flat that include City Lights Bookstore, Mama's Cafe and Mario's Bohemian Cigar Shop. From the apartment to North Beach's Washington Square is about a 3 minute walk.

Great location, very nice apartment

  • 5 of 5

I stayed for two weeks on a business trip, and really enjoyed my time. The location, near the top of Telegraph Hill, is great, close to the bustle of restaurants at Grant and Columbus, but just far enough away to be quiet and restful. The apartment was great, small, but had everything I needed. There's a great laundry service at Greenwich and Stockton, which I used a couple of times. I would definitely come back!

Don't just visit there "Live" there and feel like one of the locals

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is a true hidden gem in what i can only describe as one of the best locations in the city. For a couple of Aussies this was our first visit to San Francisco and like many other people we had always stayed in hotels, but this time we didn't just want to visit there we wanted to "LIVE" there and feel like one of the locals and this is the point of difference , i just wish we had done this before . As many have said the apartment has every thing you'll need for your stay in every respect . It is comfortable, tasteful and clean and the owner was very helpful .The convenience and closeness to to the lovely cafes and shops of the area was terrific, and at the end of a busy day it was great knowing that you were returning to a peaceful and tranquil place where you could recharge the batteries ready to head out the next day. As an Artist and Photographer it was wonderful watching the changing light reflecting on the distant buildings from the roof terrace each evening (try doing that from a regular maximum security concrete hotel.)

Sure the hills in the area are steep but my wife is in her mid 60's and i am late 60's and we managed ok perhaps we are fitter that others of our age but do not let this put you off from staying at this Wonderful location you will not regret it. Would we stay here again? 100% yes The worse thing was having to leave and return to our Winter in Oz! We left our hearts in San Francisco

Best Location in North Beach

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I enjoyed 4 fantastic days in this wonderful clean beautiful apartment that had everything one could need including one of the best views of San Francisco from the large outdoor patio which we used every day and night. The neighborhood is very upscale and quiet which was perfect for us. You are only a 10 minute walk to pier 39 and there are so many great restaurants and bars within 5 minute walking. You do not need a car as Uber was great to use and walking anywhere was easy even with the big hill. You are literally right below the Coit Tower which is great to visit for more spectacular views. The apartment was well furnished and clean. Yes hot water in shower takes a few minutes but does get very hot so no issues there. Owner and their representative was easy to work with and instructions were easy in finding and accessing unit. Garbage access was a little more of a challenge in finding but we managed. We will certainly rebook at this property when we return to San Francisco

Thanks Ed and Laura

Cute SF Escape

  • 5 of 5

Apartment was perfect for a long weekend. Had all the amenities and the fireplace was needed over the wet and chilly weekend we spent in SF. Unfortunately, that meant we didn't get to use the roof deck which looked a a nice place for breakfasts and cocktails. Everything was clean, well-maintained and as described.

The Perfect Perch in Telegraph Hill

  • 5 of 5

I loved staying here! It is even nicer than the photos suggest -- chic, comfortable, and filled with light. But it's the patio that sends this place over the top - it's truly spectacular, and it's the perfect spot for wine and some take-out from one of the North Beach trattorias, just steps down the hill on Columbus.

This apartment is in a great neighborhood. The shops on Grant Street start just a minute's walk away, with the legendary City Lights bookstore at the other end of it. It's easy to walk from here to just about anywhere on the north side of town - the Marina, Russian Hill, Embarcadero - and even to downtown.

My take on some of the other comments in the reviews: the parking space is small, but it's a huge bonus to have a dedicated spot on Telegraph Hill. I had no problems parking a 4-dr Audi sedan comfortably. Some have commented on the shower - it takes a good minute or two until the water runs hot but once it does it's fine.

A fantastic spot for your next San Francisco sojourn - I hope to stay there again!

Lovely stay in North Beach

  • 5 of 5

The condo is very nice, and in a great neighborhood.

The heat from the fireplaces (one in the living/family room, and one in the bedroom) makes for a very relaxing atmosphere.

I would stay here again.

From the Owner

San Francisco is home to a great deal of diversity and culture and North Beach is the heart of that culture. Also, because Mark is a designer, he insisted upon finding a location with good weather and proximity to the quaint, classic areas of the city. We love this location due to the ability to walk everywhere and the feeling of being in a large city, but not being overwhelmed. North Beach is the epitome of a comfortable, inviting neighborhood with all the positive features of a large city.

From the Owner

The outdoor patio is a beautiful respite after a day spent exploring the city. The patio is quiet and has spectacular views that can be appreciated at any time of day, whether you have just woken up or are coming home after a long night out. Another favorite feature is that the surrounding areas can easily be visited on foot, and public transportation or cab travel can get you everywhere else. We love that a car is not a necessity. On a normal day, we wake up and walk to a café and relax before heading out on our explorations. The truth is, North Beach has a feel that is very much like that of a classic European city with cafés, good restaurants and classic architecture.
