Honeymooners Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Let me first say that the pictures cannot even begin to do justice the view that you have at the Keyhouse. You are literally on the ocean -- one of, if not the best, porch/deck on the entire island. It is genuinely divine; you get to sit over the ocean every morning while enjoying your cup of coffee, breakfast, etc. and soak up the sun.

To give you context, we were two honeymooners that came from Chicago to have a honeymoon escape and it couldn't have been better for us. Being in our mid-20s, we are perhaps a bit more adventurous than most but the main ingredients for our selection were privacy (you have plenty of that), sunshine (again, it has that in spades) and close to the ocean (and we were blown away with how were literally over the water).

When you first arrive to St. Kitts, and if you take a taxi like we did, don't waste time getting car the next day. We got our car the next day and it is by far the best investment if you truly want to experience the island. My wife and I can say without a doubt that we explored every inch of the island and each day could return back to our private Oasis in Dieppe Bay.

We strongly recommend, in addition to renting a car, taking up Cena's offer to cook dinner for you one night. Not only is she such a delight (and luxury to have come by to clean the houses/linens), she is an unbelievable cook.

The Keyhouse is the ultimate experience for those that want a piece of paradise and have an appetite to explore. You'll be able to truly experience the island in its fullest in Dieppe Bay; Suzanne is extremely responsive and this is coming from someone who has rented multiple, multiple times through Homeaway. Whether it was for Spring Break, reunions, etc. -- I have used Homeaway, VRBO etc for a variety of trips and Suzanne has been the best owner of a property I have rented by far.

If you have any hesitation, don't. It's a great investment, beautiful scenery, and serene environment. Thanks Suzanne, Cena and Michael for making this an unforgettable honeymoon.

Owner's Response: Blake and Emily, We are so happy that you chose "Keyhouse" for your honeymoon! You are the second honeymooners that we have had stay with us! Knowing first hand how special an event this is, it was so important to us to have all the special surprises waiting for you! Our little slice of heaven never ceases to amaze my husband and I as well! Listening to the waves crash across the coral reef and under our deck is mother natures ever changing symphony! Cina's cooking is so scrumptious! We're glad that you had her cook your Kittitian Thanksgiving dinner! St Kitts has so many different places to explore! It sounds like you and Emily tried to find them all! Once again we all thank you for choosing "Keyhouse"! We look forward to your return!

My friends and I recently stayed at the Key House.

  • 5 of 5

This was a beautiful villa with the waves crashing under the deck! I would go back in a heartbeat with my hubby, but not with 4 other women! Conch shells are on the beach for souvenirs and Arthur''s Beach Bar is right down the Beach. If you're looking for quiet private time, this place is perfect!! If you're looking for the "resort" side of St. Kitts, this is not for you. The native people are friendly and always willing to help. We had monkeys visit us and birds that ate out of our hand! Awesome! Ziplining was only about 20 minutes away and we swam with dolphins! The villa also has a washing machine and clothesline! The pool was a wonderful way to cool down! I loved staying at the Key House and would recommend it to anyone who's looking to get away from it all!

Beautiful place to stay for a quiet, romantic vacation on St. Kitts

  • 5 of 5

The VRBO is located in a quiet fishing village on the northwest end of St. Kitts. It's a beautiful apartment and very relaxing! The apt is beautifully furnished and contained everything we needed for our stay. It is true that Dieppe Bay is a bit of a drive from Bassetierre and big grocery stores, but we were looking for a more remote place so were happy for the quiet. We are especially happy that we could bring our dog who loved sitting on the outside deck and watching the waves and the fisherman! Suzanne is a great hostess and Cheff is a friendly helpful housekeeper who gave us great advice on finding things locally and what to do. We will definitely come back!

Owner's Response: Dear Katie, Todd and Hugo! It was a pleasure having you all stay at KeyHouse! We are so blessed with such a unique property! It truly is a romantic spot! Luckily St Kitts is only 34 miles long so everything is relatively close including some local grocery stores! We look forward to having you back! Hugo is such a good boy! Warm regards, Suzanne, John and Chef

The Keyhouse was a piece of heaven and paridice!!

  • 5 of 5

When we first arrived, Suzanne was right there to greet us and provided us with amazingly useful information. As the day progressed we had the pleasure of meeting her amazing husband, who ROCKS! The house sits on top of the ocean, with the most beautiful views of the volcano, and where the ocean meets with the sea, truelly amazing! When I say Suzanne is the Hostess with the mostest, I am not exaggerating. She was so helpful with all of our endless questions. I was so thoroughly relaxed there. The house was clean, colorful, and comfortable. If you really want to see and experience a piece of heaven, I recommend you contact her and make your reservations before it's too late. I cannot wait to go back there again, a week was way to short a time to see all there is to offer. When you do go, be sure to walk on up the black sand beach to Authors for their delicious rum punch! Thank you Suzanne and John for such a fun, relaxing vacation!! P.s. Tell Chef hi and give mama dog a pet for me!

LOVER'S PARADISE

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a romantic, private, relaxing getaway in the Caribbean then look no further. My husband and I spent our honeymoon on the lovely island of Saint Kitts and were we ever so glad we did! We chose the Keyhouse primarily because of its fantastic location. This gorgeous beach-house is literally right beside the ocean (the gentle sound of ocean waves is heard constantly)!

Dieppe Bay is a more rural town on the opposite end of Saint Kitts so it suited us extremely well as we prefer the freedom to design our own schedule and wanted to stay apart from the main cities and port. The cozy Keyhouse offers a private pool, very comfortable bed, grill, deck, fully operational kitchen, and WiFi too! We spent our days basking in the warm sun, snorkeling, fishing, swimming, and our favorite memory of all-relishing our home cooked dinners while sitting on the deck watching the breathtaking palette of colors the sun created as it sank out of sight over the ocean. Both of us are rather adventurous and we not only enjoyed exploring the area on our own, but also bought a fish from a local fisherman and grilled it one evening to perfection!

On Saturday we decided to climb Mount Liamuiga which was an AWESOME hike with such a rewarding view!!! The climb is an intense one, so be sure you're in good shape before attempting this venture. Suzanne gave us great directions and we chose to go without a tour guide which turned out fine for us (saved us some cash).

Another tip to help save on expenses is to just ride the local busses rather than paying pricey taxes and car rentals. The busses are supper cheap and fast!

We could not have been more pleased by our stay at the Keyhouse. The amazing service (thank you Suzanne, John, and Chef),the outstanding accommodations, and the overall island experience was truly one we shall never forget. We hope to return for our 25th wedding anniversary!

Oh, and one more detail we can't overlook...some special guest (two tiny birds) came every morning to beg for treats. We fed them cereal and rice which they LOVED! If they happen to show up during your time at the Keyhouse, please give them a little something to eat and we would very much appreciate it. We are sure they will too!

Location, location, location

  • 5 of 5

You know the 3 words for excellent real estate are location, location, location. Well, this place has all that and more nailed down!!!

Ocean front - truly ocean front, not ocean view or near, but OCEAN FRONT with the deck cantilevered over the ocean!! Also ocean front worldwide is 95% rocky coast line - not here - ocean front with sandy horse shoe barrier swimable beach!! With easy access to a living reef!!!

Backgrounded by a volcanic mountain rainforest, surrounding palm trees and lush vegetation!!! Access to a fresh water plunge pool is one step off the living room or deck!!!

FUN FUN FUN!!! Very rare to have Oceanside, mountains and fresh water all together in one location, location, location!!! Truly lifestyles of the rich and famous...did I mention classy accommodations (open air) and great weather and last but not least - great people!!! Suzanne, John and Chef took exquisite care of us as we wined and dined on the local cuisine. Thanks to one and all for this glorious holiday week.

Amenities

From the Owner

Our property is unique in that we have the benefits of the Atlantic Ocean to our right as well as the Caribbean Sea to our left! Our deck has the vantage point of canterlevering over the ocean where you can cast the fishing pole we have supplied and catch some Mahi-Mahi, Red Snapper or Gar. The local fisherman can help with that if you don't catch anything! Maybe some fresh Rock Lobster sounds good! They're right there in the reef! The dormant volcano is directly behind us and is a great days hike into the rain forest! We overlook the live reef with waves crashing over them in many different directions just a short short swim off our deck! There are 4 sets of snorkel gear , 3 boogie board and a fishing pole , walking sticks to hike the volcano, 2 portable beach sand chairs, 2 lounge chairs, 2 beach blankets, and a cooler for your use while staying with us! We have been in American Way, American Airlines magazine, Vogue and Town and Country Magazines! Enjoy our little slice of paradise! We have plantation shutter doors. The kitchen and dining are open air. Just doing dishes while looking at the reef feels luxurious! We supply containers and refrigerator for your food items. The bedroom is Air Conditioned for your comfort although the temperature on St Kitts doesn't fluctuate too much, 80s to low 90s year round with an average of 84.
