This home has turn of the century charm and is perfect for work/play/retreat/life/transitioning guests. Now surrounded by a truly magical garden it's a one bedroom with a King size bed, and although small it has its own private front garden space and eating area that helps it feel expansive for its size. It's a stunning garden property with rural personality situated just blocks from downtown Santa Monica, central to markets, restaurants, theaters, yoga studios, and again just blocks from the beach! And a coveted and dedicated parking spot for a compact car! Considered a Walker's Paradise location by third party raters. One guest called it "like living in a magazine." This address is a well-located, well-nurtured, historic and romantic property; with wifi, HBO and cable it is a perfect space for writers, snow-birds, corporate and other folks who know how to bide their time. Popular with return visitors since 1999 it's reputation as a wonderful home away from home is well established.

This cottage is freestanding in a central and beautiful garden and also has a private garden of its own. The location is perfect for fit guests who enjoy walking only 4-12 blocks to anything one has come to Santa Monica to enjoy. Sunshine, beach, shopping, great restaurants, markets, farmer markets, the main library, yoga studios, etc. It's a fabulous launching pad to all places in Southern California, the Getty Museums, the Pacific Ocean, Venice Beach, Malibu, Marina Del Rey, the Santa Monica Freeway, Beverly Hills, Disneyland, Hollywood, the Valley, etc. While not a Patrician address it is a super clean, uncluttered, simple, charming living space in a magical garden that presents tranquility, safety and peace.

I am a discreet presence on the property, occasionally working in the garden, or fussing with this or that. You won't even know I live there. ; )

Everything is here, or super close to here. In spite of its proximity to the city center this property is a quiet oasis with an enchanting vibe. Your time in Santa Monica can shape up however you want it to; after work or play, plenty to do here or with side trips via car to all kinds of places, even a quick trip Vegas or San Francisco.

Please be aware that for monthly stays utilities over $20 for each utility (gas and electric) are the responsibility of the guest. (mostly to encourage conservation.) Additional information may be requested as well as other agreements signed.

I have lived in Santa Monica for several decades and certainly consider it home. It's a wonderful place to live, close by the sea and in one of the least densely populated areas of Southern California and a much cooler place to live in the summer than our inland neighbors. I have become a passionate advocate for vacation rentals and think it's a shame that hotel lobbies have partnered with affordable housing folks and housekeeping unions (strange bed-partners) to create an all-out assault on a process that has been embraced by millions and millions of folks around the world. Our taxes should be put toward affordable housing and homelessness and responsible and considerate management of our own vacation rentals should be key. Please Speak up and Stand up for Vacation Rental Rights whenever you can!

Our property is a few short blocks from downtown Santa Monica; close to a great health food store, (the Co-op), two Whole Food Market's, two Vons, Tiffany's (!) and Santa Monica place, yoga studios, restaurants, markets, the library and great coffee shops. In a few years the new metro will be a ten minute or so walk from where we are and over all it's a place one can find happiness and tranquility. Walking, bike riding, rollerblading; all options for getting around and all in an area that has so much to offer so close by! A designer at heart, I have also made baby steps in real estate investment and especially love Santa Monica. Inspired by my travels to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and Europe, we created our beautiful garden to reflect a place of beauty and peace and are excited to share it with travelers. I am reluctant to tell you about this place, because I want it all to myself. But, because Cara is so nice, I will. How does "Perfection" sound? Gorgeous and tasteful decor, every inch. Bright. Fabulous garden. Relatively quiet especially in the evening for such a good location. So many thoughtful details, like proper, sharp kitchen knives, soft TP...just overall delightful.

The cottage and the host, Cara, were absolutely perfect. The cottage itself is cute, well-decorated and peaceful; it is in a perfect location to access Beverly Hills and Culver City (as I had to for work), and it is also an easy stroll or bike ride down to the boardwalk. Cara went out of her way to make sure I was taken care of. She ran out to purchase a hairdryer for me after the one for the cottage went missing. After I left, she sent me a skirt I had left behind... and she even refused my offer to cover the shipping. A++. Thank you so much!
