About this property

Historical Mansion Beside 174 Acre Park

This 7,000-square-foot historic mansion available for 30 guests was built by George Braun of Anheuser-Busch in 1882, is perfect for your next large gathering or celebration. Enjoy the open, luxurious living space with six bedrooms, four baths, and unique features like a Great Hall, a home gym, a large wrap-around porch, waterfalls, and a private pond. Enjoy our outdoor yard games, a swimming pool, a pond with catch-and-release fishing, an extensive library, and beautiful gardens.

The property has a fascinating history. The home belonged to the George Braun family until 1919 and was then used as a boarding home for several Denison families. As nearly every old house has a ghost story, the Braun Manor is said to have a few spirits that still linger in the home. While we can’t confirm or deny their presence... we believe most of the sounds guests hear are just sounds of an old creaking house.

Plus, enjoy Munson Park, a stunning park that sits outside the gates of The Braun Manor. With a 174-acre disc golf course, basketball court, and baseball and soccer fields, guests of all ages will have a ton to explore at the park, then return home to relax on your covered patio or by the fire pit!

An ample driveway with 1,400 feet of blacktop for parking space offers easy commutes, while a beautiful, landscaped yard, covered patio, and fire pit invite family fun during leisure hours outside.

The open-concept home boasts custom wood accents built in 1882 by German carpenters and Bavarian woodcarvers under the famous architectural direction of John McDougall. Guests will find that this historic Italianate-style home showcases a luxury of times past, from the Great Hall to the hand-carved fireplaces, pocket doors, and dual arched staircases.

You'll have ample counter space with the extended island counter, stainless steel appliances, a built-in gas stovetop, two large ovens, and all the essential kitchenware for your home cooking needs. There's a place for everyone at the massive dining table in the kitchen, island, and table located in the Great Hall.

~ ESCAPE TO NATURE AT LAKE TEXOMA (4 miles): One of the top attractions in Denison is Lake Texoma, the aptly named reservoir that straddles the Texas-Oklahoma border. The lake, which the Red River and Washita River feed into, covers 89,000 acres of territory, making it one of the largest reservoirs in the United States. That's a lot of water to explore, and the good news is there are many ways to do it. First, start at the Eisenhower State Park (4.5 miles from The Braun Manor). Here you'll find a soft sandy beach, clear blue water ideal for swimming, and numerous scenic hiking and biking trails that follow the lake shore.

Lake Texoma is rich in largemouth, smallmouth spotted, white, and striped bass, so fishing is one of the most popular activities here. There are many fishing spots on the Texas side of the border, including in Eisenhower State Park, as well as numerous guided fishing tours in Lake Texoma that you can sign up for. In addition, since the lake is so large, it's the perfect place to go out for a day on a boat, paddleboard, or kayak.
