About the property

Spacious, one bedroom, one bath, and den with full kitchen sleeps 4

Hibiscus:

This spacious cottage has one-bedroom (with queen size bed), one-bathroom, and den with an open floor plan for your enjoyment. The large kitchen is well equipped to handle a family holiday gathering (the dishwasher makes the cleaning up easier), or an intimate late night snack for two. The unit opens directly to its own private patio, making it easy to hang out and watch the beach community pass by (and appreciate the local music from Finn’s drifting in on the weekends). The den (with a queen size sofa bed) can be partitioned off for guest’s privacy. The unit has its own designated parking space by the front door that is long enough to handle a boat or motor bike trailer. As with all Casas de la Playa properties, the unit is fully equipped from pots and pans to linens and towels. Only a short block from the beach make this a perfect home away from home while on vacation. Make Hibiscus your destination on your next visit to Flagler Beach.

Hibiscus Cottage, as well as all of the units at Casas de la Playa Village, is in the heart of Flagler Beach, one block from the beach, and within walking distance of restaurants, bars, shops, and galleries. Take advantage of all the many activities of this small beach community by staying downtown.

About Andres Nazario

My partner and I fell in love with Flagler Beach over 35 years ago, and bought this property in 2003 while we were both teaching in Gainesville, FL. We have been remodeling this five cottage complex over the past several year and have all five units ready for vacation rental now. We have two additional units elsewhere in Flagler Beach. We have been offering vacation rentals in Flagler Beach since 2001. We now live in Miami Springs, and plan to retire in Flagler Beach in the future. I welcome your inquiries through this website, or by phone, or e-mail. I will respond quickly. Although we no longer live close to Flagler Beach, we visit often, and we have a local caretaker who attends to maintenance of the property and to the needs of our guests.

Andres Nazario purchased this cottage in 2003

Why Andres Nazario chose Flagler Beach

This cottage is one of five in a village of a duplex and a triplex. It is centrally located with the beach a short half block away; and most restaurants, bars, and shops within walking distance. This unit is one block from Moody Blvd, the main street in Flagler Beach, and two blocks to the famous Flagler Beach Pier.

What makes this cottage unique

The most attractive aspect of Flagler Beach is its peacefulness and small beach community charm. There are no franchises on the beach, nor high rises. There are several small local restaurants and cafes with excellent food, a couple of galleries, some nice bars, and a friendly community.

Marineland is 10 minutes north, and Daytona Beach is 20 minutes south. Historic St. Augustine is a half-hour drive away, and Orlando and Disney are within an hour's drive. Major airports are within an hour and a half drive.

The sunrises are fabulous at this time of the year. The beach is less that a block away. The ocean water temperature is cool this time of the year, and the sun is bright and warm. At night sit and contemplate the constellations and the planets from anywhere, the patio, the beach, or walking around the town! This is an ideal place for moon lovers, and star gazers. Fish from the beach, or from the nearby pier. Bring your own bicycle and enjoy riding around this small community! During the winter months Right Whales may show up at the beach, and dolphins are visible year round. If you are planning a family reunion, a wedding, or any type of small group activity, this location could be ideal reserving the whole compound of four cottages and one studio.

Guestbook comments from the manager

“My husband and I (and our golden retriever, Arlo) had a wonderful month-long stay at Hibiscus Cottage! It was just as advertised--comfortable and spacious and close to all the "action" in downtown Flagler Beach. We walked everywhere from our "home away from home." We had all that we needed at the cottage--including kitchen accessories (I actually did some cooking while we were there!), linens and even beach chairs and a cooler! Our daughter came to visit for a few days and there was plenty of room for her too, which was nice. She slept on the pull-out bed in the den. Worked perfectly! It was a real treat to meet Andres on a couple of occasions too--and he is as warm and friendly as he looks in his picture. Thanks, Andres, for your hospitality and for making such a good time possible for us at your place!”

What Cheryl loved about your listing:

“We loved the comfort of Hibiscus Cottage, and the amount of space we had. We also REALLY appreciated having such a nice place available which allowed our dog to be with us. He's well-behaved and except for some hair that, no doubt, needed vacuuming up, I don't think anyone would know he'd been there. Also, the location of the Cottage is so incredibly convenient. So close to the center of Flagler Beach. That was great. It was also nice to have a parking spot off the street.”

What Cheryl thinks you can improve:

“We know Andres is already planning several improvements, like an outdoor shower and another patio area. Both would be great. He seems to always be thinking about ways to improve the property. He's a very responsible and caring host who wants his guests to have the best possible experience. What more can we ask for? Thanks again, Andres!”

Great little place in a fantastic location

  • 4 of 5

Hibiscus is a well decorated cottage right in the center of Flagler Beach. Easy walking distance to beach and restaurants, shops. Lots to do within a few blocks - farmer's market, First Friday events, etc. Importantly for pet owners, there's an empty grass parking lot next door. Parking off the street at the door is also important because Flagler can get crowdd on weekends. Several good local/small restaurants nearby.

The cottage has a nice 50's ambiance, a cut above what we are used to at this price. Comfy bed, nice towels. Cute. Two closets in bedroom is a bonus. It has everything you need for an extended stay except for a washer/dryer, but there is a laundry about five blocks away. The furniture is more stylish than comfortable.

Andres is a responsive and helpful host. Got back to me within 15 minutes every time I had a question. Really enjoyed the place and Flagler - we would highly recommend both.

100 yards to paradise

  • 5 of 5

Literally still on-site, as we check out at 11, we loved our stay in the lil Hibiscus Cottage. It was night, cold and a wintry mix of of rain and fog when we got here for our visit but the nice bottle of wine was a good start to the NYE weekend. The heater worked better than the lack of curtains, and the walls are thin enough to require a YouTube white noise machine, so have a good, long sound clip on standby for a comfy night sleep for light sleepers. As I mentioned it was winter so we never needed to run AC or ceiling fans but the patio and always amazing restaurants and walks on the beach warmed you up perfectly!! The cottage was clean, well laid out and provided a great experience that we would suggest and come back to. Thanks, Cheers & Happy New Years!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Hibiscus house at Casas del la Playa and Andres was a wonderful host! Everything we needed was right there ... full kitchen stocked with every convenience, plenty of colorful towels and sheets, and a beautiful welcome gift. And so close to all that Flagler Beach has to offer! Shops, night life, causal and fine dinning ... Can't ask for more! Would recommend Casas del la Playa to friends and family alike! Thank you Andres :)

Hibiscus Cottage Flagler Beach

  • 4 of 5

Stayed at the Hibiscus cottage 3 1/2 months. Owners were very accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Caretaker Doug couldn't do enough for us, always there to help. Loved Flagler Beach, everything was in walking distance. Farmers market was amazing, fresh seafood, fruit & vegetables, loved it. Walk on the beach very morning, fishing & crabbing on the inter coastal, wonderful.
