Charming Quarterman Cottage is an 800 square foot house with 2 queen bedrooms and 1 bathroom that is located on historic Bernard Street in downtown St. Augustine. Built in 1903 and recently updated, this cottage offers the perfect St. Augustine experience for any visitor of any age. Wonderful screened porch on the rear of the house that looks out into the private backyard is a great place to enjoy the temperate northern Florida weather with dinner, drinks, and friends.
You will find that you are perfectly positioned to enjoy all that the Old City has to offer without ever getting into your car. The closest major attraction is the Mission of Nombre De Dios & La Leche Shrine that is at the east end of Bernard Street. You will find many locals walking their dogs, drinking coffee, and watching the sunrise there in the mornings, as we love to enjoy our own city as much as you will enjoy it. Even some of the furthest downtown attractions, like the Dow Museum of Historic Homes, is only a 20 minute walk from Quarterman Cottage. Quarterman Cottage is perfectly positioned in Uptown between historic Downtown and North City. If you walk east to San Marco from Quarterman Cottage, you will see Mission of Nombre De Dios & La Leche Shrine directly in front of you. If you turn right (south) on San Marco, you will walk through the antique uptown district and back in time to historic downtown St. Augustine. If you turn left (north), you will find the original Fountain of Youth, the Old Jail, and other beautiful, traditional historic Florida monuments.
Nice 2 bedroom in the heart of downtown and within walking distance to everything we wished to see/do. Great restaurants in the area too. Andrea was always quick to respond to any questions we had!
We like to be "by ourselves" instead of a hotel. We enjoyed our 3 day stay.
We felt at home the moment we arrived. The cottage is well appointed with everything we needed to enjoy our stay in St Augustine. The location was perfect for seeing the sites, walking and just relaxing.
Our only regret, is that the cottage wasn't available for a longer stay.
Interior of house was clean. Home was charming and had everything we needed. Close enough to walk downtown (15-20 min). Mcdonald's and Zaxby's close by for cheap eats if needed. Everything else a short drive. Owner super responsive and helpful. Would definitely stay again !
Don't miss the area further south beyond Cathedral Square- beautiful old area, quiet and less touristy. Be sure to visit Anastasia State Park, gorgeous beach with no crowds. The Shrine of Nombre de Dios is still closed due to last years damage from Hurricane Matthew, but the museum and new church are both open. The cottage was very comfortable, and the screened back porch was very private. Friendly neighbors.
The place is good for small stay...it's right down in the thick of all the shops. The only down side is parking. There is only one parking spot available. We had two vehicles in this specific occasion....the first night we were worried that our car would get towed. After talking with the neighbors the next morning and finding out you can park half on the sidewalk & road all along the street. Everything was perfect.
