This spectacular oceanfront villa/house sits practically on the ocean at the world famous K38 surf spot, with perfectly peeling waves right outside your door. You are literally steps from the water. This 2 bedroom/2 bathroom home is located in a secure gated neighborhood and includes breathtaking ocean views from the living room and kitchen as well as the giant rooftop deck. The gigantic rooftop patio area comes complete with jacuzzi/hot tub, roof, hammock, 2-piece sofa, firepit, and BBQ for you to relax and enjoy majestic ocean views for miles and miles. There's nothing quite like watching dolphins play in the surf as the sun sets on the beautiful Baja coastline! At night, enjoy a blazing fire with a glass of wine while admiring the stars above. Kids will love exploring the tide pools right outside the front door (in fact, we found a baby octopus right in front of the house in the tide pools- see the pictures above).

The house is located in a secure gated community just north of Club Marena condominiums. This is an extremely safe area and the house has no history of theft or break-ins. The house includes gated parking space for 2 cars. There are also additional parking spots just outside of the house.

Please keep in mind that the house is located in a peaceful and quiet neighborhood- not an environment for wild parties. This is a great neighborhood with really cool and interesting people who enjoy a peaceful environment and a good night's sleep. The houses are located close together so loud noise affects everyone in the community. Outside noise should be kept to a respectful level after 10pm and definitely no loud music after 10pm. No fireworks are allowed in the community as well.

We can arrange for a well trained masseuse to come to the house for a deep tissue massage! $30 per hour, $45 for 90 mins. Couples massage $60 for 2 hours.

I am an avid surfer that came for the waves and stayed for the beauty. This house is a surfer's dream. This is one of the top surf spots in all of Baja California that works for beginners as well as advanced surfers. You have three surf spots right outside your door. To your left is K38, one of the most consistent and longest right handers on the Baja coast. In front of you is Maria's (rocky reef break), one of my favorite spots. With the right conditions, you can get barrels! To the right, is Theresa's, another ultra-consistent rocky-reef break. This is one of the most consistent locations in all of Baja california, and will pick up south, southwest, west, and northwest swells and works with all different types of tides. In addition, my friend David Biner runs K38 Surf House 3 doors down if you need lessons or pointers.

We have a full complete kitchen with a new stove/oven. The kitchen has everything you need if you choose to cook at home, although we also recommend eating out as much as possible in the incredible restaurants of Rosarito, Puerto Nuevo, and Ensenada.

The master bedroom contains a luxurious California King size bed with high quality Mezzati-brand 1800 thread count luxurous hypoallergenic sheets with hypoallergenic down alternative comforter (not pictured), the perfect way to end a long day of surfing, kayaking, wine tasting, ATV-ing, horse-riding, or any of the millions of things to do in beautiful Baja california. Also included is a second 42' TV in the master bedroom. The second bedroom contains a full size bed, large enough for 1-2 adults. In addition, we have a full size inflatable mattress that is just as comfortable.

The living room contains an incredibly comfortable sectional sofa and 48' flat screen TV. The 48' TV comes included with a chromebox, which will allow you to play netflix, hulu, amazon prime, HBO GO, youtube, and pretty much anything you can find on the internet. There is a second 42' tv on the master bedroom equipped with chromecast. Also included is fast Wifi internet.

You can walk to everything from this comunity! The K38 community has a surf shop, taco stands, restaurant, general store/liquor store, pharmacy, and Las Rocas Resort & Spa for nightlife. Within a short drive are the incredible lobster restaurants of Puerto Nuevo, excellent vineyards for romantic wine tasting tours, adrenaline pumping ATV rentals where you can ride ATVs on beach sand dunes, and beautiful golf courses for the golf-lover. Also check out the nearby Fox studios where Titanic was filmed. Rosarito and Ensenada are a short stone's throw away, where you can watch whales and dolphins, check out the world famous 'La Bufadora' (or Blowhole),

Also, I am available by email/phone/texts 24/7 (everything goes straight to my cell phone), and I usually respond within a few minutes.

Great location on the water. Perfect for surfing. Neighborhood is a little intimidating, especially at night. But your walking distance to some great restaurants. Overall excellent experience, loved the house.

Like camping on the beach.....

  • 3 of 5

Property is situated as the picture illustrates, literally steps from the ocean. The view is spectacular. I think a previous reviewer indicated, this is not a property that is going to have any amenities with any kept grounds. It is pretty much a dirt 'compound' with a variety of different types of living structures clustered together. Like a camping ground. There are a lot of loose dogs that rush at you barking you every time you come or go (owner did mention this in advance, and tells you not to get out of car...but they never go away so you really have no choice but to get out). The videos the owner sends in advance are helpful to find the property and that was a nice touch. However, items that were shown in the video did not exist on the property so they were outdated or misleading. We had 4 people in our group. The pictures showed a really cool deck top with a hammock, chairs, great seating, etc. we thought it would be a great place to sit in the evening and have a glass of wine/beer and watch the surfers, sunset. Let's just say - that is not what we found. There were 2 plastic chairs. Had we known we would have brought our own. People just expect or plan for what they see. Ceiling fans do not work (just take them out, they hang broken and unusable), the door looks like it has been kicked in (we let the owner know). Look, if the only reason you are there is to surf. The none of this stuff matters, it is perfectly situated for surfing. But if you are not a surfer, not there to surf and you want to spend time on the beach, this is not the best place to stay. I would not recommend for children -- dogs and no place to play this is adult only) The place just simply is rough around the edges...with some TLC it could be so cool. The owner was timely and sent out lots of information in advance about the area and instructions. He really tries to make sure you have good info. there's a book of info in the place. nice touches. When we got there and couldn't get into the shed (thinking there were more chairs inside) he was quick and replied to our text messages. We did leave early though, it was a birthday trip and we were looking for different experience. It just was not our cup of tea. So we moved to a different place rather than be sour about a bad fit. I give it 3 for views and proximity to the ocean.

The Rental From Hell

  • 1 of 5

The picture on your website is not recent. The metal door is no longer there and the bench in the lower corner is rusted and unsafe. On our arrival the house had black mold in the shower and cobwebs in several locations. The dishes and utensils were not clean. The electricity did not work in half the house & the TV did not work. The front windows were not clean and were speckled with paint. When it began to rain the ceiling leaked in numerous locations; the kitchen window leaked so much that it was raining inside; the living room window leaked as well creating a flood on the floor; the front door not only leaked around the door frame, but came through the wood itself and ran down the inside of the door in addition it gushed under the door actually creating a stream that ran through the house. As a result we were forced to find alternate accommodations during which time the owner (Ron Tongbai) was no help. We rented and paid for this property from Jan 9, 2017 to Feb 6, 2017. After moving to a new location on Jan 20th we sent an email to Ron on Jan 23rd requesting a refund for the unused portion of our rental. He said he would have his manager (Dan) contact us in the "next few days." We waited until Jan 27th and then contacted his Dan ourselves. Dan told us he had no knowledge of our email and attached a Refund Request form for us to fill out and mail back. We have mailed the form along with a copy of the emails. I would not recommend this location unless the owner performs some much needed repairs and shows himself to be a more responsible landlord.

Owner's Response: I'm so sorry for your experience. We have fixed all the issues and will be issuing a refund shortly. Again, our complete apologies for the inconvenience!

A World Away in Our Own Backyard

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I live around 2 hours from the Mexican border and wanted to get away from the stress of the holidays. Rosarito seemed to be perfect for that, and the K38 rental made it even better.

You just cannot get the same experience for the price in the US. I have never stayed in a home closer to the ocean than this. The place was close to yummy food (most if not all take the US dollar). The owner was so accessible with a great guide that made for a very personalized stay. And the surrounding areas were wonderful. We also went horseback riding at Pretty Horses Rescue and received amazing individualized care too.

All in all, it was an exotic retreat in a far off land personalized for our own happiness just 2.5 hours away from home. I'm not sure you could do anything better for a weekend away.

Helpful feedback for those truly interested in book:

Everyone has their own particular tastes about staying somewhere. I myself prefer mid-upper luxury. The place itself was more mid-lower luxury (updates definitely need to be made in the home, but everything was fully functional and comfortable; albeit cold as we went in December). However, there is nothing more precious to me than having a raw experience with nature. Opening the door and having only the ocean in your view will take your breath away. Also, the kind of service Ron gives is so personalized and helpful that you feel really taken care of.

It was an unforgettable retreat away from the hustle and bustle of holiday life. I am sure that we will most definitely return. And honestly, part of me didn't even want to write this review because it was so lovely and I want to keep the place all to myself. But where's the fun in that! :)
