My wife went to college in nearby Banner Elk. We love this area and have visited often.
Pool, Whirlpool, Sauna, and Steam room are features found only in expensive hotels and motels.
Amazing location. Owners are amazing to work with. The condo is super spacious. Close to Sugar Mountain, Grandfather Mountain, and Beech Mountain. Also close to gem mining and within 25 min to Linville caverns. Like I said before a great location to do many different things. I stayed 8 days with no issues! The balcony is a perfect place to sit and watch the fireworks on New Years Eve!
We rented this property for a 2-day reunion with a friend from the west coast. It suited our needs perfectly.
The condo is very convenient to Sugar Mountain, Boone, Banner Elk, the Blue Ridge Parkway and Blowing Rock. We spent daylight hours exploring those areas and hiking trails branching from the Parkway.
The owner alerted the guard house to our rental. We had no trouble accessing the main building, unloaded and parked our cars in a remote lot 2 minutes down the mountain from the complex's front door. We never had to wait for a ride to the lot or from the lot to the main building. The shuttle drivers were very pleasant and accommodating.
This is a 2nd floor unit that is close to the elevator for the high rise but we did not notice any noise from being close to the point of access for other guests. The 2 bedrooms are on opposite sides of the condo, separated by the living room/dining room/kitchen. Each bedroom had its own full bath, which was quite convenient. The beds were very comfortable. Towels and linens were included. We cooked our own meals and found the kitchen adequately supplied. It was nice to have a washer-dryer available.
We worried about being comfortable, as the condo has no air conditioning. August is one of the hottest months in NC but the owner was absolutely correct - we did not need A/C. At its altitude and location on top of Sugar Mountain, the condo stayed comfortably cool. We actually closed the windows and patio sliding glass door so we could warm up! (We did not turn on the heat.) We awoke to find ourselves in the clouds each morning and watched them dissipate as the sun came out. Views of the night sky were magical.
WiFi was adequate for our needs. It worked well and connected easily. We used it to search for things to do in the Boone area and to get/send emails.
We did not use any of the condo's public amenities - like the pool or exercise room. We did not watch TV.
The owner was pleasant to deal with, responsive and very helpful. We would definitely return and we recommend this condo for anyone spending time in the Boone/Banner Elk area of NC.
We had a great time staying at this place. The skiing was great, just a short trip down the mountain. We did some trout fishing and had a blast at a local winery. Great little town! Don and Kay were a pleasure to do business with.
