This apartment was super clean and very nice!

The owner was super easy to work with. Answered all of our questions in a timely fashion and allowed us to get our beach passes and parking passes early on check in day. The apartment was updated and very clean. A very pleasant place to stay!

Family time

Rented this place to stay for a week with my family, we had two senior citizens, one infant and a toddler with us. To start off, I want to advise everyone that the bathroom situation is very interesting. There are two facilities, one contains a sink and toilet and the other two showers and a sink. Meaning, there is only one toilet in the whole place. As we had 5 adults and two kids, we were quite worried that this would not work out and almost booked an additional motel room nearby. But since the toilet was separate from the showers, it turned out only to be a minor nuisance. The place is situated very well, only half a block from the board walk and beach and a block from Casino Pier, rides, etc. Only a block from Breakwater beach water park, which was super fun and clean. And since you are a block away, you save on parking and can come home for lunch and go back out. John was a good host, he was there when we got there and gave us beach badges and parking passes. He did get slightly frustrated with us that first day but then was a fine host. Very responsive when we had issues, like the Roku didn't work for half the week. It didn't get fixed, but no big deal. A good thing about this place was that he provides linens, which was really nice since our car was full. But no pillows.

Other interesting issues was there was a large hole in the wall by the front door. He only told us he knew about it and we were not responsible for it. And we tried to open the window by the front door and it fell down on us. But otherwise the kitchen and bathrooms seem pretty newly renovated. There was a slight urine odor from the shower bathroom, not sure why. Warning the bedrooms are very small, they basically fit a bed and not much else. But the common areas were adequate for hanging out. In the living room is a large L shaped sofa that was quite comfy that could become a sofabed, although we didn't try it. There was also a sunroom just outside the living room. There is also a narrow balcony you can sit on and watch the water park. There are several adirondack chairs provided. The stairs going down from the wood balcony are narrow, so if you have people with disabilities, this would pose an issue. Also the roof kept leaking water onto the bottom of the stairs and was quite uncomfortable as you were showered with water every time you left the place and also the bottom steps were slippery. Not sure how that issue will be addressed.

Owner's Response: It is very interesting when you see your guest most every day and ask them how is everything and they say great and wonderful and then you read a review and discover things that should of been address during their stay. Our bathroom facilities was communicated to them prior to their stay, there should've been no surprises. Our three bedroom was designed with the concept of catering to weekly guest. there are two separate rooms, so individuals can shower in one room (with two indoor shower) and use the toilet in another room while having a sink in both rooms, a very efficient way of solving the problem of coming in from the beach and getting ready for dinner or the night life in Seaside. We like to meet all our guest upon their arrival and review with them some of the basic items so they can easily start their vacation without many worries. We demonstrated the use of the roku stick which gives them Netflix and Pandora and a host of other apps (that we paid for). A few days later they stated it was not working, upon inspection we notice that someone remove it several times to plug in one of their own device and broke the connection on the stick. We actually shown them the bend connector and decided not to charge them for that damage and simply order a new stick. Regarding our stairs going down from the balcony, they are 36 inch wide, do not understand how that is defined to be to narrow. The window is another issue, always work fine, we can only assume that when they tried to raise it, it somehow came off its' track.

Good Prom Weekend

Rented for my daughter and friends for prom weekend. Property had just been renovated and was clean and ready to go. Close to boardwalk and beach. Checked in with no problems and received keys, parking permits and beach passes. Overall a good experience in communications and renting.

Awful Fourth of July because of the property owner and VRBO

Full disclosure: I never stayed in this house because of the property owner's inability to follow directions and his inability to clean the house of a fruit fly infestation. My story is below:

I truly believe Mr Anthony was less then truthful from the beginning. I booked this property in early March and was told over the phone and on the the property listing there would be 2 queen sized beds and at least a full size bed. After sending Mr Anthony the final payment in mid-June, he informed me that the house would have 2 queen bed and 2 twin sized beds and didn't even know what a full size bed was. I followed up with Mr Anthony asking him how we could handle this. After asking him if he would forgo the fee for an extra parking pass; he told me I was more of a headache then I was worth and could make more money if he cancelled our reservation. After not hearing from him for two more days he emailed and agreed that we could push the beds together and he would waive the parking fee.

I received an email from him on the evening of June 29 (3 days before I was supposed to begin my stay at his property) stating that the previous tenants had left the property with a major fruit fly infestation and he did not feel that he would be able to remove the flies prior to my arrival and would have to cancel my reservation. I called VRBO that evening and was told that he had not filed a cancellation with them at that time. Customer service called and left the property owner a voicemail instructing him to cancel the reservation. I followed up with him as well by sending an email asking for him to do the same.

On June 30, I received an email from the property owner stating that he had canceled the reservation but when I called VRBO they did not have any record of it. VRBO was able to track the owner down and instruct him how to correctly issue a refund.

Considering the above mentioned, it is my opinion the property owner was not being entirely truthful about this property and most likely double booked it in an attempt to receive more money from another group. This was my first time using VRBO for booking and I would never recommend them or this property owner.

Owner's Response: It is always an awful thing to have your vacation disrupted. You spend time and effort in putting the deal together with anticipation of having a great time. . I feel bad for Joe and would feel the same way if it happen to me. We do try hard to operate a first class environment. As any prior owner knows all we want is our guest to come have an excellent time, leave and hopefully come back the follow year. We truly had a problem with these small flies, that we discover were sewer flies (the sewer line crack). If would not of been right for us to accept Joe. Both he and his family would not of been happy during the stay. We truly regret the situation.
