5BR-Sun Salutations: Breathtaking Oceanfront Luxury Villa in Cayman Kai

Overview

Property Details

Updated: Sep 29, 2016
5 Bedrooms, 6 Baths, Sleeps 14

5BR/6BA Ultra Luxury Sun Salutations is a popular premier villa in Cayman Kai. The villa is directly oceanfront in Cayman Kai (within Rum Point) on the north coast. With stunning views, impressive architecture, and clean, modern decor, Sun Salutations offers a combination of luxury and “livability” that is unique among its neighbors. Oceanfront windows and sliding doors immerse you in the beauty of panoramic ocean views whether you’re inside or out; a private, white sand barefoot beach is just steps from the tiled back deck, oceanfront pool, and outdoor living and dining areas.

5BR Sun Salutations is just a short, barefoot walk from the popular Rum Point Club, so you can drop by anytime for watersports, drinks, lunch or dinner. During the high season, if you're looking to be near nightlife, this villa offers the fun of being close to the action and the chance to socialize with the neighbors, without compromising the privacy of your vacation home. After dinner, the area quiets down again, so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the wonderful sunsets.

The interiors of Sun Salutations have been painstakingly decorated to create a sensation of “liveable luxury,” and to highlight the minimal, spacious architecture. 36 feet of over-sized sliding glass doors provide stunning vistas all day long, and allow a cross-breeze in winter to cool the house when the Central A/C is not necessary. Fully modern kitchen with all the expected amenities (refrigerator, dishwasher, stove); dishware, cookware, and cutlery are also provided.

(2) Oceanfront King Master Suites; (1) Oceanview King Master Suite; (1) Oceanview King Bedroom and Twin Bunkroom share a larger bathroom. The bunkroom has two sets of bunks as well as a twin trundle under each bottom bunk (can sleep 6 children or 2 adults). TVs in each Bedroom as well as a larger TV in the media room downstairs.

The outdoor dining area, underneath the south pavilion, features a propane BBQ center. Across the oceanfront infinity pool, the north pavilion offers sofas and chaises for lounging at cocktail hour, or just curling up with a good novel. The side yard features a zen garden for quiet reflection.

Sun Salutations accommodates up to 14 people (10 adults max.); Excellent large family villa as well as a 4-5 "couples villa". Central A/C, WiFi Internet, linens, towels, and beach towels are included. Plasma TV in media room and whole-house (inside only) stereo with IPod docking system. Dual laundry machines. Circular driveway with parking space out front.

This was absolutely one of the nicest vacations for us. We brought our 4 daughters, 2 son-in-laws, and 2 granddaughters. It is conveniently located near Rum Point, and yet quiet and peaceful for a nice getaway vacation. There was plenty of room so that we were not on top of each other. The kitchen was large enough that we were not tripping over each other when cooking or just hanging around the kitchen as many people do. Diving was about 20-25 minutes away at Ocean Frontiers, a very good dive operation we have used for years. We used a private charter, Captain Kirk, to do some fishing, snorkeling, and just a day on the water, and he was able to pick us up at Rum Point. There are plenty of games and pool items for use so we didn’t have to go purchase a lot of things once we arrived. The staff we dealt with, via phone or in person, were always very helpful an easy to contact if needed.

There was, however, construction, next-door, but it really was not that much of an inconvenience. The grocery store was a bit far, but we did our major shopping before we got there, and were able to get anything else at nearby smaller stores. These are the only downsides we could find — pretty darn good, considering the construction is temporary and we were able to work out the grocery situation.

Everyone had a wonderful time and keeps asking me when we are doing it again. I still smile every time I think about it.

This review does not do the vacation justice. It could not have been any nicer. On a 5-star rating, it was a 5+.

Thank you,

D. O.

Great family vacation

  • 5 of 5

The location and layout at Sun Salutations was perfect for us, three adult couples and three small children. The pool and closeness to the beach were amazing. Although we ate in many nights, the restaurant at Rum Point and the Lighthouse were both excellent. We took advantage of a half day boat with captain and mate that took us across to go to the Turtle farm, have lunch and then out to swim with the stingrays. $950 but well worth it. Disruption of a new home being built next door was minimal. there were no problems the week we were there and we never had to contact the local manager. We used Empty Suitcases for a crib and play jumper for the 6 month old and they were also excellent. all in all, it was a blast. Seven days of sun and mid eighties didn't hurt either.

best spot on the island!

  • 5 of 5

We would definitely return to this area of the island. We have always stayed on 7 Mile Beach and decided to rent a house for this trip at a different location. The house allowed us all to have our own space when it was needed. The view was outstanding and without the hustle and bustle of everyday life.....we all wound down quickly. Having groceries delivered allowed us to stay put and would highly recommend. The infinity pool overlooking the beach was fantastic. Cooking on the outdoor grill and dining outside was relaxing while the kids swam in the pool. Monday night Rum Point BBQ was fun for all. A private charter was also a great treat with the Captain showing us much about the ecosystem and then the usual stops to snorkel and feed the stingray. The week passed by far too quickly. Until we return again.....

A great escape

  • 5 of 5

Sun Salutations is the perfect escape from everyday life and stress. All you have to do is to walk through the front door and you immediately know you are in a special place. The view from the large downstairs living space is straight out to the infinity pool and ocean beyond. It's mesmerizing and beyond tranquil. The home is smartly designed with large beautiful bedroom suites upstairs (all have views!) and a giant, comfortable great room downstairs with open kitchen and dining areas. The location is perfect if you are looking to be in an area that is off the beaten path. The Rum Point club is close by for good food, recreational activities, and a small gift shop. But why leave Sun Salutations? You have everything you need right at your fingertips...gorgeous pool and lounging area, private beach and ocean access for snorkeling, paddleboarding, kayaking, and swimming. And if you just want to read a book or take a nap, you can always steal away to the hammock or one of the cabanas. I would highly recommend Sun Salutations for your next trip when you really want to spoil yourself and rejuvenate your soul.

Perfect Vacation Home!

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this beautiful home is designed with an eye toward relaxation, luxury and of course fun. We spent most of time simply enjoying the amenities at the home, the private beach, yoga, the pool and the ocean. I was there with a group of 14 friends and we had more than enough space. The home is laid out to allow for large group gatherings - with a fully equipped kitchen and plenty of space for the whole group to dine or lounge together. Yet there are also enough separate spaces for more intimate conversation, quiet time with a book or an afternoon nap in the sun. The Beach Bar, gift shop and jet ski or sunset cruise at Rum Point Beach Club are only a 5 minute walk from the house. I would highly recommend this beautiful home to friends or families looking for the perfect getaway.

Location

From the Owner

Good Weather, Cayman Kai and warm, calm, clear water

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Owen Roberts (GCM) at 23 Miles Nearest Barpub : Rum Point Wreck Bar at 200 Metres Nearest Restaurant : Rum Point Restaurant at 200 Metres Car: necessary

The entire island is only 22 miles wide from west to east; so you are never too far from anywhere on Grand Cayman. The homes on the sound front in Cayman Kai offer the best beaches as they don’t have as much marine and plant life trying to make a home in the shallows. The beaches usually are soft white sand. The homes facing west offer barefoot swimming and shallow calm water. The sunsets are also wonderful, but the big draw to this area is the proximity to the “Rum Point Club”; a public beach club that offers a fantastic barefoot beach…many watersports, a restaurant, bar, grill, gift shop and pick-up beach volleyball games. (www.rumpointclub.com)

It is from the Rum Point pier that the www.redsailcayman.com 65’ catamaran departs to stingray sandbar for snorkeling trips. Also near Rum Point is the Kaibo Yacht Club restaurant, bar and marina (www.kaibo.ky). Click the map on our homepage for exact locations. The homes facing south (Kai Rumba, Pools of the Kai, Kai Sound Studio) have great white sand beaches, but softer sea bottom. You will probably walk across the street to swim in sandier water) Lastly…about 20 minutes east we have (2) large resorts in the east end (www.morritts.com and www.thereef.com ) that offer manicured beaches as well as restaurants, a modern grocery store, liquor store, gift shops, SUBWAY sandwich shop (and even a coffee/pastry shop). These two resorts also offer scuba, snorkel trips, jet skis, windsurfers, kiteboarding, ocean front pools and bar service. www.tortugadivers.com and www.whitesandwatersports.com offer snorkeling tours, paddle boards, jet skis, etc.
