Charming Cottage Set Among Beautifully Landscaped Gardens And Close To the UO

Charming mother-in-law cottage in the historic Whiteaker neighborhood. Nestled in a lovely private flower garden, the Cottage provides a serene retreat and is centrally located among the best restaurants, breweries and wineries in Eugene.

My goal is to make your visit to Eugene an enjoyable one, providing you with a restful, serene and secure home away from home. Nestled in a lush and colorful garden, the cottage provides a private and quiet retreat. Tall ceilings and windows in every room fill this 450 sq foot charming cottage with light and a sense of spaciousness.

The bedroom features a mahogany queen size sleigh bed with a pillow top mattress, luxury linens and a down comforter. The view from the bedroom sofa seat looks out onto the flower garden and private fenced yard.

There is a living area with a cozy sofa for two, suede sitting bench, and a HDTV with established ROKU and Netflix accounts for streaming TV and movies. Additionally there is a HDMI cord for guests to stream movies or shows from a laptop. Relax and unwind in this quaint setting that includes a writer's desk and a fully-stocked kitchen. Everything you need to create a gourmet meal can be found in the kitchen.

Garden settings and nooks surround the cottage, provide a tranquil and beautiful outdoor space to enjoy. There is a Craftsman rental home on the property, and there is substantial privacy between the home and cottage. If you are looking to host family or friends for a special event or holiday, both the house and cottage may be rented together. Together, the house and cottage are comfortable for up to 7 people.

The house and cottage are located behind a tall fence with mature trees and vegetation, creating a sense of privacy from an active neighborhood. The cottage is located behind the main property. Walking around the right of the main house, you'll arrive at the cottage.

The property is centrally located in the heart of the historic Whiteaker neighborhood, providing easy access to the best restaurants, breweries, wineries and music venues. The thriving urban Whiteaker neighborhood, Willamette River and upscale 5th Street Market are within a 2-10 minute walk from the cottage.

Named for Oregon's first Governor, the historic Whiteaker is considered Eugene's most eclectic neighborhood. Entrepreneurs have established popular venues in this neighborhood to share their culinary, musical, brewing and wine making talents. Most recently, the Whiteaker has become identified as Eugene's brewery district. Several craft breweries, including Ninkasi, Hop Valley, Oakshire and Falling Sky are located within a few blocks of one another. Recently earning accolades from Esquire magazine as one of America's best bars, Sam Bond's Garage is an iconic night spot showcasing regional musicians on an almost-nightly basis.

A mix of commercial and residential structures, enjoy the serenity of the cottage or walk in any direction from the cottage to enjoy this up and coming eccentric historic district of Eugene!

The gorgeous Willamette River is only a few blocks away and easily accessed by walking 10 minutes north of the cottage. Enjoy an evening stroll along the Willamette River or go for a run, bicycle ride or walk along this gorgeous river that runs through the town of Eugene.

About the Owner

Engaging, friendly host interested in people and creative endeavors. I spend my time running a local non-profit organization that protects and enhances land and water through collaborative processes, research, design and habitat restoration efforts. I also have a business in interior design, creating beautiful and comfortable living spaces for myself and others.

I enjoy meeting new people and sharing the points of interest around town and I am very respectful of privacy. I like to provide an experience that complements the guest' interest for their time here, so I am happy to interact as it suits the guests.

I am usually available by email, phone or text when I am out of town and not present on the property to meet guests.

Lovely charming cottage! We appreciated the enclosed gate entrance, and we lacked nothing for our stay. Altogether cozy. Thank you, Eve!

Great neighborhood and great cottage

  • 5 of 5

In an eclectic neighborhood with great walking routes and wonderful restaurant options. Part of my week involved nursing a bad cold, but this allowed for watching comedy on Netflix, eating sauted kale from the raised gardens, and sleeping on a bed with luxurious linens. I cooked great meals in the fully stocked kitchen, ate take out from some of the in walking distance bakeries and other restaurants, took long walks and just enjoyed my time. In summary, great place to stay if you want rest, entertainment, wonderful food and walking.

Nice Stay

  • 4 of 5

Eve was wonderful and the small, peacefull space she's created on her property has the laid-back comfort you'd need for a short stay. The bathroom is a bit small and outdated but manageable for 1 person. The kitchen area had everything I needed and the bedroom was comfy although the bed was a bit soft and lumpy for me. I'm a light sleeper so I had to be creative with the window treatments for light blackout. Neighborhood noise seemed to settle by midnight and morning commuter traffic noise started up by 7:30am or so. As mentioned by another traveler, the home is located in a mixed area of established artists as well as people in transit (a housing co-op next door) which did provide an evening of some turbulence one night. That being said, the neighborhood is eclectic with unique restaurants and not far at all from the center of Eugene. When it's not raining, I'm sure the backyard where the cottage is located is just heavenly - it sure looked it!

Owner's Response: Thank you for sharing your personal experience of the Cottage. I appreciate the review. I am confused about the reference to co-op housing next door. To clarify, Co-op housing is not housing for transients, but a cooperative where renters can have ownership in the co-op. Co-op's are also focused on community-based living.

Nice clean and convenient

  • 4 of 5

We were visiting our son at U of Oregon and wanted to try something other than a hotel. The location is only about 2 miles from campus...has a comfortable bed...nice kitchen...and good parking. We

hope to stay there again on our next trip next year.

Wonderful place to stay! Would stay here again for sure!

  • 5 of 5

Clean, thoughtful and charming. It was a little hard to find since we arrived after dark, but Eve provided thorough instructions that were super helpful. The cottage had everything we needed, complete with coffee, tea, sparkling water, fig bars and fruit leathers. Such a nice welcoming touch. Check in/out was very easy and timing was flexible. We will definitely stay here again! :)
