About the property

Charming Cottage Set Among Beautifully Landscaped Gardens And Close To the UO

Charming mother-in-law cottage in the historic Whiteaker neighborhood. Nestled in a lovely private flower garden, the Cottage provides a serene retreat and is centrally located among the best restaurants, breweries and wineries in Eugene.

My goal is to make your visit to Eugene an enjoyable one, providing you with a restful, serene and secure home away from home. Nestled in a lush and colorful garden, the cottage provides a private and quiet retreat. Tall ceilings and windows in every room fill this 450 sq foot charming cottage with light and a sense of spaciousness.

The bedroom features a mahogany queen size sleigh bed with a pillow top mattress, luxury linens and a down comforter. The view from the bedroom sofa seat looks out onto the flower garden and private fenced yard.

There is a living area with a cozy sofa for two, suede sitting bench, and a HDTV with established ROKU and Netflix accounts for streaming TV and movies. Additionally there is a HDMI cord for guests to stream movies or shows from a laptop. Relax and unwind in this quaint setting that includes a writer's desk and a fully-stocked kitchen. Everything you need to create a gourmet meal can be found in the kitchen.

Garden settings and nooks surround the cottage, provide a tranquil and beautiful outdoor space to enjoy. There is a Craftsman rental home on the property, and there is substantial privacy between the home and cottage. If you are looking to host family or friends for a special event or holiday, both the house and cottage may be rented together. Together, the house and cottage are comfortable for up to 7 people.

The house and cottage are located behind a tall fence with mature trees and vegetation, creating a sense of privacy from an active neighborhood. The cottage is located behind the main property. Walking around the right of the main house, you'll arrive at the cottage.

The property is centrally located in the heart of the historic Whiteaker neighborhood, providing easy access to the best restaurants, breweries, wineries and music venues. The thriving urban Whiteaker neighborhood, Willamette River and upscale 5th Street Market are within a 2-10 minute walk from the cottage.

Named for Oregon's first Governor, the historic Whiteaker is considered Eugene's most eclectic neighborhood. Entrepreneurs have established popular venues in this neighborhood to share their culinary, musical, brewing and wine making talents. Most recently, the Whiteaker has become identified as Eugene's brewery district. Several craft breweries, including Ninkasi, Hop Valley, Oakshire and Falling Sky are located within a few blocks of one another. Recently earning accolades from Esquire magazine as one of America's best bars, Sam Bond's Garage is an iconic night spot showcasing regional musicians on an almost-nightly basis.

A mix of commercial and residential structures, enjoy the serenity of the cottage or walk in any direction from the cottage to enjoy this up and coming eccentric historic district of Eugene!

The gorgeous Willamette River is only a few blocks away and easily accessed by walking 10 minutes north of the cottage. Enjoy an evening stroll along the Willamette River or go for a run, bicycle ride or walk along this gorgeous river that runs through the town of Eugene.

About Eve

Engaging, friendly host interested in people and creative endeavors. I spend my time running a local non-profit organization that protects and enhances land and water through collaborative processes, research, design and habitat restoration efforts. I also have a business in interior design, creating beautiful and comfortable living spaces for myself and others.

I enjoy meeting new people and sharing the points of interest around town and I am very respectful of privacy. I like to provide an experience that complements the guest' interest for their time here, so I am happy to interact as it suits the guests.

I am usually available by email, phone or text when I am out of town and not present on the property to meet guests.

Eve purchased this cottage in 2009

Why Eve chose Eugene

I love the architecture of the old homes in the Whiteaker neighborhood. There are a lot of trees that surround many of the homes in this area, creating a sense of nature among the architectural aesthetic I enjoy. The neighborhood is also lively with a mix of people from many facets of life, providing diversity and a sense of community.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage offers a private retreat set among beautiful landscaping and gardens. The cottage is set within the historic Whiteaker neighborhood, offering some of the best restaurants and music venues within only a block or two from the house.

Cozy and convenient

This cute little cottage has everything you need to enjoy your stay in a walkable neighborhood. Good food, coffee and beer are close by. The separation of rooms worked very well. We would definitely come back.

Cozy, Warm and Inviting

  • 5 of 5

We adored Eve's home, she was an incredible Hostess.

There was a mix up on our end about staying in the big house, but Eve was so gracious about us misunderstanding, that she allowed us to stay in the bigger Home.

Both houses are adorable, cozy and inviting, love the decore and all the special ammenities that she has. Bowls full of chocolate candies, fresh coffee beans, boutique style soaps, and Goose down comforters, and amazing big, fluffy cuddly robes....

Thank you Eve for sharing your little piece of heaven....

Nice stay, quiet location, everything you need!

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay here in the charming cottage. It was wonderful to be able to walk to different restaurants and coffee shops, not to mention the grocery store - which is a block away. We had everything we need for a week's stay. The bed was so comfortable and the neighborhood was so quiet that we had very restful sleep. The cottage is set up to have everything you need to be quite comfortable. I wouldn't change one thing about our stay!

Perfect hideaway for our trip!

  • 4 of 5

This was the perfect spot for our Eugene trip. Centrally located to just about everything we wanted to do and see. Even walking distance to what turned out to be my favorite restaurant during our stay (Tacovore), and several other dining and drinking establishments! Parking on the street was easy. Entry through the front gate to the cottage in the back of the property was easy. Plenty of space for two people. The bed, omg the bed. Seriously the most comfortable bed ever!!!!! We want one now for our apartment. The kitchen was spacious and great. We didn't do much cooking, but it had everything we needed for heating up food and making tea. The couch was cozy, perfect for two people to sit and watch movies which we did several nights after days full of adventuring. And the small bathroom had a tub/shower combo which I love. Between the several heaters in the cottage we were able to stay plenty warm during the cold rainy evenings. And the artsy neighborhood was full of friendly people. We would definitely stay here again!
