About Julia Morris
I have Lived in Tampa since 1998 and just LOVE Central Florida. We have 6 guesthouses in Tampa and we enjoy sharing the area's wonderful variety of outdoor and indoor activities with guests form all over. We have been renting our houses for over 10 years now and are looking forward to hosting you too.
Julia Morris purchased this House in 2004
Why Julia Morris chose Tampa
This property was originally built as a 3 bedroom but previous owners converted 2 of the bedrooms into 1 large master bedroom. It's just perfect for a traveling couple with ample closet space for everyone and just a really pleasant vibe throughout.
What makes this House unique
there is an ample back yard for either the 2-legged or the 4-legged friends to run around. The kitchen is fully applianced and has an updated feel with quality appliances and nice dishware.
100% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
Not what we expected
I spent the first day cleaning the kitchen....bugs and dirt and other things in drawers
Landlord shows up unannounced in evening
Neighborhood very noisy with bedroom facing busy highway
Did not feel safe in this area
Great vacation retreat.
Had no problems finding this home. It was very clean and comfortable. My husband especially enjoyed the hot tub. The home was close to restaurants, grocery stores and pharmacies so we were good to go. Had a bit of trouble negotiating the inability to make a left turn mostly everywhere, but soon became use to where that could happen. Also was not far from the Amalie Arena, which was where we needed to be. It was a very nice trip, and we were very comfortable in this home. Nice quiet neighborhood also. Thanks, Alex and Julia.
Comfortable and spacious.
The indoor space was great for what we needed for a week's stay and the location very good. The outdoor space could use some cleaning up.
Lovely clean home
This home is very clean and beautifully decorated. It had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable.
Thank you and we hope to see you again soon.
Nothing "tranquil, zen, and peaceful like" at all! Located on Memorial Highway that was constant traffic with loud music and mufflers right outside the broken privacy fence 24/7. All day long there is foot traffic on that road not 2 feet from the lot traveling to the bus stops down the street. The outdoor pictures do not show how over grown the yard is. It's more like a jungle than a yard. 3 of the 4 exterior doors are hung with the hinges to the outside. The all glass front door's latch is visible from the outside as if it was broken into and wood was never repaired. I had to work through homeaway to get a refund for 1/2 of my stay. They agreed to put me up in a different home then they decided I wouldn't be happy in any of their homes and told me to leave with refund. Julia would never respond to text messages which is how homeaway wanted me to communicate so there would be documentation. Worst house and people to work with I've ever encountered!
Although I realize that not every house suits every person I feel it is important to respond to Brenda’s mischaracterizations in her review.
Brenda implies in her review that the house is next to a high-speed multi-lane highway. Nothing could be further from the truth. The house is located on the corner of an 11 house cul-de-sac and a regular 2 lane residential surface street. The name of the street is “Old Memorial Highway” as it was the first and only road from downtown Tampa to the Gulf of Mexico when it was built over 100 years ago. Originally a rural camel-back sand road it is now a suburban street with a sidewalk and a 30 mph speed limit. I believe the buses that she referred to are school buses which are not uncommon at certain times of the day given the residential nature of the neighborhood.
And while the lot is shady with several large sheltering Oak trees and a couple of pines, her characterization of the yard as a jungle is not true.
Brenda had reserved the property for 2 months during the “high season” after 2 weeks she let us know that she did not like the house and demanded a full refund of her 2nd month’s rent which she wanted 5 days before the end of her first month
He had offered her an alternative house – one twice as large and twice the cost offered to her at the same price in order to try to make a client happy. But it became clear that her demands vis-à-vis this other house and its requirements of weekly pool servicing in addition to the yard work would still be unacceptably disturbing to her. She was very specific in her email: “I'm not at all interested in having my vacation interrupted further by maintenance and yard work.” Realistically, tho’ we try to be discreet, regular yard and pool maintenance is necessary to keep the houses in good order.
So we acceded to her original request for a termination and refund.
I read the negative review she left for a property she rented last year. She mentioned issues in getting a timely refund. Knowing that, I hand delivered her refund – in full- by cashier’s check on the day that she specified.
She then seemed surprised that we relisted the house for the month that she had given-up.
The neighborhood is quite safe, this house has never been broken into in the 14 years we have owned it. Nor have we had any criminal issues in the 20 years we have lived on the next block.
Great backyard, close to the airport and clean!
We felt so fortunate to have found a clean, well decorated home that is dog friendly. The backyard is a great place to hang out, get some sun, play fetch and relax. The home is well stocked and very comfortable. I did not give it five stars because the adjacent road is very busy and can be noisy at times, but it is only a 10 minute drive to the airport.
