Overview

About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 6

Lovingly renovated historic school house, Little Red is a great location for a base to explore Isle au Haut. A new enclosed porch addition has greatly improved the relaxation area and sleeping space to the building. Additional improvements to be completed by Spring 2018 including a new kitchen, shower, bike storage building.

We are also adding two bunk beds for the 2018 season.

Turner Cove is a beautifully maintained property on the east side of the island, and shore access is a few hundred feet away from the cottage. Though simple, we've endeavored to provide all the comforts of home so that your stay will be memorable. Every year we reinvest to make your visit a great experience.

The island itself is a stunningly beautiful island with an abundance of hiking trails, wildlife, and peace away from our busy world.

About Owner/ Property Manager

I currently reside in Damariscotta, ME . I'm a builder and I restore recreational boats for a living. I'm a former professional ski racer, and I have traveled all over the world. I love sharing my love for Isle Au Haut with my guests.

I'll do anything I can to help make your trip wonderful.

Owner/ Property Manager purchased this cottage in 1980

Why Owner/ Property Manager chose Isle au Haut

My parents started visiting the island in the early 1970's. Then when the opportunity arose to purchase Turner Cove in the early '80's they made it happen. Through sacrifice and hard work they restored and improved all the structurnes on the 11 acre property.

In 2007 my sister Sue Foelix and her husband Stew, purchased the property from my parents, and I took over Little Red at that time.

What makes this cottage unique

It's a great location for a base camp to explore the island. Little Red has had many nice improvements over recent years including a new bath, bike shed and porch, and upgraded kitchen for 2018. A short private path leads you to the ocean close by from Little Red.

Beautiful spot for nature lovers

  • 5 of 5

"Little Red" has everything you need to set up house and explore the beautiful surroundings. The kitchen is fully equipped - even including a large lobster pot. We recommend picking up a fresh live lobster or two! The Turner family provided bikes, kayaks, pick-up and drop-off, a trip to get live lobsters, and they graciously answered all questions we had about gorgeous Isle Au Haut. This is a perfect spot for those who want to unplug and tune in to nature. A short bike ride from the house takes you to many hiking trails, a pond to swim in, rocky beaches, or in to "town" for an ice cream at the general store. A perfect getaway for those seeking a peaceful commune with nature.

Car: not necessary

It's located on the East side of Isle Au Haut approximately 2 miles from town, which is hardly a town. The biking, and hiking on the trails is wonderful. There are many scenic vistas

and a few small mountain peaks to ascend.

The fact Isle Au Haut is home to a large portion of Acadia National Park, speaks for itself.
