About the Owner
We purchased this property in 2003 as an interim destination until, and while, we built our waterfront dream cabin in 2013 nearby. We loved every minute of our stay in this little rustic cabin. We purchased waterfront in 1994 with the dream of building on it, but until that was possible, we enjoyed this little cabin. We have developed a love for the beauty and rustic feel of the UP. This little cabin has the feel of waterfront, the smell of waterfront, the sound of waterfront, and a partial view like waterfront....but just a short walk across the street to the public access. It's our joy to offer a stay for your relaxation and break from the media saturated world around you and retreat to a slower pace, with campfires, beach walks, hiking, swimming and many fun filled day trips.

Cozy up north retreat
We enjoyed the cozy retreat of the cottage nightly. We walked along the shoreline across the street from the cottage and enjoyed breath taking views of the morning sun and water. We did not have a fire in the fire pit. We had all the comforts of home at the cottage.
A Great Escape
This Charming Rustic Cabin with a Lake Superior Lake View was just what the doctor ordered! My girlfriend and I wanted to get away for Labor Day weekend, we were looking for something where we could relax and get away from everyday life. This was the perfect spot for us! The cabin was very clean and had a vintage style to it! The Cabin offered everything that we needed for everyday use. All that we did was pack our personal belongings and enjoy the ride up from the metro Detroit area. It was about 40 minutes away from Tahquamenon Falls (which was beautiful) and it was about one hour and forty minutes from Pictured Rocks (which was absolutely gorgeous). We are already talking about coming back next year for another getaway! This is not only the perfect spot for vacation or a weekend getaway, but also the perfect spot to fall in love with someone! I am absolutely 100% in love with the woman of my dreams and I realized it even more on our trip together! We will never ever forget our time at the Charming Rustic Cabin with a Lake Superior Lake View!!
great cabin for a rustic UP experience
This cabin was perfect for us, it was nice to be able to unplug for the week and the location was great - not too far from Saulte Ste Marie, Tahquamenon Falls, Pictured Rocks etc. and the owners were lovely, they keep the place clean and well stocked with everything you need. Loses 1 star because of 2 things - when we first arrived we needed to clean out the shower head and kitchen sink filter to improve the water pressure, and we did remove 3 shrews from the house(this really didn't bother us but if you aren't handy or your kids are scaredy cats this might not work for you) honestly if you're looking for a luxurious stay at the Ritz then don't go to the UP... but if you want to enjoy the great outdoors this is the perfect home base to crash after a long day of activities!
Cabin was Rustic as described. My sons enjoyed the Water the best. We enjoyed ourselves.Loved it!
The sound of the waves was great. The hill behind was good exercise. All the comforts of home. Full bed was kind of springy. Overall we would go again! The Sexton Family.
Kindness and cozy
We loved our stay. Very cozy cabin life. The beach is breathtaking. The owner is very accommodating and kind. I felt exactly as if I were at camp... With a very cute bathroom! Perfect distance from the soo, whitefish pt, and not a bad drive to pictured rocks. We will be staying again at some point! A must rent!
Great little, rustic cabin!
This was a grate place to stay. I loved the very cabiny feel of this place, very up north! The cabin had almost everything you would need. Just pack your clothes and food. The beach was just a few steps away. The kids swam, played in the sand, collected rocks, got great pictures and watched the freighters float by. We loved that we were very close to the Point Iriquois Light House, Monocal Lake, Pendills creek hatchery, the BMCC Library (for internet) and the Dancing Crane. The Soo is only about 15-20 minutes away. Whitefish Point was maybe 40 minutes drive. The owner was very easy to work with. No tv stations, but a vcr with tapes provided and no wifi at the cabin, but we survived and spent more time together as a family. I would recommend this cabin to all of my family and friends.
From the Owner
“This property is a break from the fast pace media saturated world. No in house internet access, but locally available, no cable TV, limited local stations with a VHS video player, totally "old school" complete with a selection of movies. It's our hope that our guests will be so busy enjoying the outdoor beauty, day trips and playing games with family that media won't be necessary except for a nice cup of coffee at the Dancing Crane Coffee Shop to "check up" on your Facebook or emails with their free WiFi access just 3 miles down Lakeshore Dr. The smell of real firewood burning in the woodstove touches off the rustic ambiance of those cool UP evenings or a campfire with marshmellows roasting or hot dogs lightly charred!”

“Watching freighters passing on their way through to the Soo Locks and on to the St.Lawrence Seaway. Breathtaking sunsets and beautiful "public" beach that only the locals know about right across the street, long walks on the beach and the beautiful vintage Point Iroquois Lighthouse just a short walk down the beach is a destination in itself.”
