About Peg Konkol

Dave and I live in Holmen, WI where Dave is one of the pastors at First Free Church in Onalaska. We are both from Black River Falls but have lived throughout the US and England. My dad gave me the cabin property 40 years ago and the Amish built the cabin for us 13 years ago. We used the cabin as our main residence for 2 6-month stretches in the past until we found a house to buy. I actually loved living there. It slows you down. Something really needed in today's world.

Peg Konkol purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Peg Konkol chose Sparta

My dad purchased the property about 50 years ago. He had a Christmas tree farm nearby and built a beautiful home that you see pictured in the cabin. We hope to keep the property in our family as we all love vacationing there because it is so private and the swimming pond is spring fed and lovely on a hot day.

What makes this cabin unique

Privacy! Comfort and quiet with a tiny sense of roughing it as the nearest convenience store is still a 4-mile drive. The aerated pond is this great big natural swimming pool that cools you off and is always fun to watch as you rest or eat on the front porch. The night skies, because there are no city lights or other residences nearby, are fantastic.

Wonderful cabin, ideal for a relaxing holiday

  • 5 of 5

This stay was just perfect. The clean and cozy cabin is equipped with everything you might need. The owners are the nicest people we met in Wisconsin and this means a lot because everybody was friendly during our stay there. Dave prepared wood to make campfires in the evening and Peg even put fresh flowers in the house when we came. We really felt welcome. There is quite a lot one could do in the region but we missed most of it because - living in a big city - we enjoyed so much being there and relaxing. The pond has clean water to swim and air mattresses were provided. Though there is no WLAN our teenage kids agreed that this was the best part of our stay in the States (maybe because there is no WLAN?). I would recommend this cabin to everyone who wishes to get away from it all for a while. And I really hope we will have the opportunity to come again one day.

Relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Two Camps, it is a great place to unwind and get away from it all. Peggy and Dave greeted us and let us know what we needed to know and were on their way. The cabin was clean, well equipped and charming. We loved taking multiple walks a day around the pond, and the surrounding area. We both agreed it was the most relaxing get away ever!

Peace and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was just what the doctor ordered - total seclusion in a beautiful setting. The cabin was spotless and charming with everything we could have needed. We enjoyed hiking in the nearby county forest and our dogs loved the swimming pond! The owners were a pleasure to work with. We definitely will be back!

Cozy, peaceful, and healing

  • 5 of 5

I rented this cabin for myself and my two dogs as a respite from a lot of stress in my life. It turned out to be the perfect place and location. I felt 100% safe and the hosts were amazing. I stayed on a rainy weekend and enjoyed the wood stove and many books and DVDs. I am very grateful for my time at this cabin and look forward to doing it again.
