About Peg Konkol

Dave and I live in Holmen, WI where Dave is the Executive Pastor at First Free Church in Onalaska. We are both from Black River Falls but have lived throughout the US and England. My dad gave me the cabin property 38 years ago. We used the cabin as our main residence for 2 6-month stretches in the past couple years until we found a house to buy. I actually loved living there. It slows you down. Something really needed in today's world.

Peg Konkol purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Peg Konkol chose Sparta

My dad purchased the property about 50 years ago. He had a Christmas tree farm nearby and built a beautiful home that you see pictured in the cabin. We hope to keep the property in our family as we all love vacationing there because it is so private.

What makes this cabin unique

Privacy! Comfort and quiet with a tiny sense of roughing it as the nearest convenience store is still a 4-mile drive. The pond is this great big natural swimming pool that cools you off and is always fun to watch as you rest or eat on the front porch. The night skies, because there are no city lights or other residences nearby, are fantastic.

Wonderful cabin, ideal for a relaxing holiday

  • 5 of 5

This stay was just perfect. The clean and cozy cabin is equipped with everything you might need. The owners are the nicest people we met in Wisconsin and this means a lot because everybody was friendly during our stay there. Dave prepared wood to make campfires in the evening and Peg even put fresh flowers in the house when we came. We really felt welcome. There is quite a lot one could do in the region but we missed most of it because - living in a big city - we enjoyed so much being there and relaxing. The pond has clean water to swim and air mattresses were provided. Though there is no WLAN our teenage kids agreed that this was the best part of our stay in the States (maybe because there is no WLAN?). I would recommend this cabin to everyone who wishes to get away from it all for a while. And I really hope we will have the opportunity to come again one day.

Cozy, peaceful, and healing

  • 5 of 5

I rented this cabin for myself and my two dogs as a respite from a lot of stress in my life. It turned out to be the perfect place and location. I felt 100% safe and the hosts were amazing. I stayed on a rainy weekend and enjoyed the wood stove and many books and DVDs. I am very grateful for my time at this cabin and look forward to doing it again.

Relaxing oasis

  • 5 of 5

This cabin fits the description in every possible way: charming, comfortable, and secluded. It was exactly what we were looking for in a ladies weekend away. The kitchen was well stocked for our cooking needs, plenty of comfortable sleeping space, and a relaxing living room and porch. Sitting around the campfire each night and admiring the stars in the sky was icing on the cake! It was too cool for us to float in the pond but hope to do this on our next visit. Highly recommend this rental.

hidden oasis

  • 4 of 5

we arrived after driving on roads that were barely 2 lanes wide pulled into this driveway followed it back and it opened up to this cute cabin with a pond. Such a beautiful piece of property and secluded. we were having a girls shopping weekend at cranfest which was unseasonably warm ......95 degrees with humidity that felt 100+. The cabin is equipped with a small window AC unit which did not cool the entire cabin so the first night was kind of brutal. I did take a dip in the pond that evening just to try to cool down and that was a great experience. The second night was much better because it was cooler outside in the eve at least! The 2 things I would change about this cabin is the AC and Wifi as we did not have any service and no way to contact anyone from the cabin area. Even with these things we would go back to this hidden oasis!!!!!!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review. Yes it was unseasonably hot and humid. We do have several fans and use the small air conditioner in the bedroom just for sleeping. And like you we swim or float in the pond to stay cool. We find our Verizon carrier works at the cabin but not AT&T. Neverthless, you can call 911 and get through with whatever service you have. And first responders are fast! (had to call them once when Dave took one of my sleeping pills right before church instead of his antiobiotic, but we didn't figure that one out until a few days after the ER visit). I am happy you would want to visit Two Camps again!

Perfect!

Quiet, secluded, picturesque, and warmly rustic but all with the modern conveniences. Don't know how it could have been any better.

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful time at Dave and Peg's cabin. With family members coming from three different states, their cabin was a relatively centralized location for us, which was the initial draw. My 2.5 year old nephew absolutely loved the sandy beach. While it wasn't quite warm enough for us to go swimming, we did really enjoy the provided air mattresses to float around the pond. The fire pit was enjoyed by the adults every night. This is truly a "get away from it all" cabin; it's unbelievably peaceful (perhaps that's the downtown-Minneapolis-living girl in me coming out). The cabin itself was just what we needed. It's well equipped with everything you'll need. Plenty of bedding, towels, and kitchenware. As a new dog mom, I also really appreciated how welcomed my pup was at their cabin. We will definitely keep this cabin in mind for our future vacations - it was perfect!
