About Peg Konkol

Dave and I live in Holmen, WI where Dave is the Executive Pastor at First Free Church in Onalaska. We are both from Black River Falls but have lived throughout the US and England. My dad gave me the cabin property 38 years ago. We used the cabin as our main residence for 2 6-month stretches in the past couple years until we found a house to buy. I actually loved living there. It slows you down. Something really needed in today's world.

Peg Konkol purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Peg Konkol chose Southern Wisconsin

My dad purchased the property about 50 years ago. He had a Christmas tree farm nearby and built a beautiful home that you see pictured in the cabin. We hope to keep the property in our family as we all love vacationing there because it is so private.

What makes this cabin unique

Privacy! Comfort and quiet with a tiny sense of roughing it as the nearest convenience store is still a 4-mile drive. The pond is this great big natural swimming pool that cools you off and is always fun to watch as you rest or eat on the front porch. The night skies, because there are no city lights or other residences nearby, are fantastic.

Perfect Family Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 (2 boys 9&11) stayed over the 4th of July holiday. This place is PERFECT! The pond is clean, swimming & fishing was fun (baby bluegill), frog catching galore and I think we saw 2 mosquitos the whole time! Had a bonfire every night - wood provided. Super clean and comfortable cabin. A/C in the main bedroom was great for naps during the day. Everything you need is here, minus food and clothes - the place is so secluded that clothing could be optional ;) The Cataract Mart is only a few minutes away and has anything you may have forgotten. In the cabin there are photos of when the cabin was built. It was neat to see the history. My kids learned how to play poker and chess during the rainstorm on the screen porch. Peg & Dave are great. They left very clear instructions on what is what and where everything is. It was really nice to meet them in person. We cannot wait to come back! Maybe next time just the husband & myself ;)

Owner's Response: Thank you for your glowing review! It is our pleasure to have families use our cabin and make memories. Of course we would love to have you back as just a couple too : ). Wish I could hire you to be my cleaner, too, considering how you left the cabin.

So beautiful and relaxing.

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved this this place so much . My kids (15, 12, 9) had so much fun in the pond. They swam for hours on end. My son had great time fishing and catching the little bluegills in the pond. My daughter enjoyed catching the frogs also.

It's so beautiful and peaceful at their cabin. There is no one around and it's so quiet at night. My wife and I loved the screen in porch for meal or seating out their early mornings and seeing the deer. I enjoyed being able to reconnect as a family with no internet or tv.

The cabin is so charming inside and you can tell they take a lot of pride in it. They have easy to follow directions and everything is right their for you.

We traveled into Sparta which isn't that far and stopped in a couple really neat stores. We also bought some really good sweet corn.

Thanks again for your everything.

The Boeck family.

Owner's Response: Hi Daniel, Thanks for the lovely review! It makes us so happy to think our little cabin can help families reconnect, especially people like you with the heavy responsibilities you have with your job. We especially like the fact that you could enjoy the pond. When we are there with our kids and grand kids, we too swim on end.

Cozy, welcoming, secluded getaway

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a trip off of the grid, this is it. The cabin is clean, cozy, charming, and welcoming. We swam in the pond, which is well maintained, ate dinner on the screened-in porch, played games in the kitchen, and talked in the family room. If you are going in the summer, bring your bug spray, take the time to see the stars, take in the fresh air, and enjoy the privacy that the land and the cabin provide. We had a fantastic time!

Such a great experience

  • 5 of 5

We just left the cabin today. It was an amazing week. The cabin is very well maintained and the swimming (which was our focus) was perfect for the kids. Much of the pond seemed to be free of weeds and there were a number of floatees available. The cabin is well stocked and comfortable. Towels are provided along with a washer and clothes lines. We have at&t as our cell carrier, which did not work there. It was actually nice to have my son not have access😉? I would say this is a perfect place for people seeking somewhere truly remote. My husband and I along with our three kids were very comfortable.

Peaceful Solitude

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I along with another couple loved the peaceful seclusion that Two Camps offered. The property was very clean and comfortable. I personally enjoyed a quick refreshing swim in the pond after a hot day of biking the Sparta-Elroy trail. We enjoyed a relaxing, tasty dinner at the recommended Evergreen Super Club, touched off with a very tasty Grasshopper ice cream drink.

You can tell that the owners take great pride in their property. We enjoyed viewing the photo album depicting the building of the cabin. They definitely put a lot of effort and attention to detail in the property. Thank you Peg and Dave for the use of your beautiful place. Our only regret was that our stay was too short.
