Unexpected Surprises! (not is a good way either!)

  • 2 of 5

Upon arrival, we were shocked to have found animal feces in one of the bedrooms. There was also large cracks on the mirrored closet doors (very unsafe) and then one of our guests unfortunately cut her foot from broken glass that was left in the kitchen rug. Thankfully, it did not cut too deep. To top it off, there was no power to one of the bedrooms for a day. It resolved itself that evening but clearly this place is old. After speaking with the property manager, she was apologetic and credited back the cleaning fee. Obviously, the place was not properly cleaned. The location is nice, right outside the park and visiting Yosemite is always beautiful! Just wished this place lived up to the reviews I read prior to booking!

Comfortable and a great location near Yosemite

  • 5 of 5

We came to Yosemite for a girls weekend of hiking and relaxation! The house is about 20-30 minutes from the valley of Yosemite. It had plenty of room and comfy beds. It was well equipped and the owner was responsive in communication. Lots of stairs on the outside and inside but I think that’s the norm with houses in this area. Great house, great visit!

Very comfy cabin in West Yosemite

  • 5 of 5

We were three adults and a teenager, and we absolutely loved staying in this cabin. The beds are super comfy and the kitchen is well equipped. We loved the binder with tons of information about the house and appliances and the best part was all the great hike descriptions. The location is great with super easy access to Glacier Point (when it is open), Mariposa Grove (when it is open) and the Valley. We would come back to this cabin in a heartbeat! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Great Rental

  • 5 of 5

My family recently stayed at the Tree House and it was fantastic. We had travelled from the East Coast so last thing we wanted when we arrived were any problems and there were none. Everything worked well in the house. The beds were very comfortable which allowed us to sleep great and have really active days. I'd definitely stay here again.

Great base camp

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect to come back to after hiking all day in the park. Rebecca the caretaker/housekeeper was very responsive to any requests we had. The house is nice, clean and well stocked with spices, paper goods and basic toiletries.

Car: necessary

My vacation home is located inside Yosemite park eliminating the need to wait in line for re-entry. It is among the closest accommodations to the major attractions such as Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point, Wawona Golf Course, the Mariposa Grove (which is closed for Restoration till July 2017) and various trail heads. I allow 30 minutes to get down to the Valley a little longer to get to the Golf Course, When I go to the Mariposa Grove I'll park my car at the Wawona store and take the shuttle bus.

I would advise anyone staying in Yosemite West and preparing their own meals, to do their grocery shopping before they enter the park. There are grocery stores in the Valley and at the Wawona store but most of the prices are higher.

Then there are restaurants, from the dining room at the Ahwahnee to the pizza deck in Curry Village

IF at all possible I would recommend one stays at least a week because there is so much to do. In the Valley I would recommend parking your car in the Day Use Parking then taking the free shuttle bus around.

A popular place is the Ahwahnee, a 4 diamond hotel which was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987. Dinning used to require a jacket for men but has eased up on that tradition and now collard shirts for men and woman may wear dress or slacks and blouse. Historic Ahwahnee Tours are also available.

The visitor center is a must stop. The staff is always helpful with how to plan your stay in Yosemite. They can also tell you about the ranger's program and Interpretive walks

There's a bookstore and museum near by.

There's the Ansel Adams Gallery which offers photography workshops and a camera walk (class size & availability are limited).

You are in Bear country which means food may only be inside your car (out of sight, widows completely closed) during daylight hours. Remember to clear your car of food wrappers, crumbs in baby seats, and baby wipes. Even canned food and drinks must be removed from your car.
