Great base camp

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect to come back to after hiking all day in the park. Rebecca the caretaker/housekeeper was very responsive to any requests we had. The house is nice, clean and well stocked with spices, paper goods and basic toiletries.

Great location, close to everything in Yosemite, very comfortable home with everything you need! Thx

  • 5 of 5

Home was great! Very clean upon arrival, kitchen had every small appliance imaginable to cook wonderful meals after a long day of hiking and sightseeing. Bedrooms are spacious, bathrooms are huge. The informational binders were invaluable, we found everything we needed and more! Highly recommend staying here for your Yosemite adventures. Thank you very much!

Pretty nice house. No wifi or cell service ouch

  • 3 of 5

House was nice. Wifi should be provided since phones don't work. Paper towels and napkins would have been standard. We had to wipe grossness with bath towels. Small single tv should be improved

Owner's Response: I agree paper towels and napkins should have been standard. I will check with my cleaner on this. I just got wifi installed. before with all the trees I had the satellite people tell me I could not have wifi. Now that the trees have been cut down - due to the bark beetle I was able to get wifi. I will be getting a larger TV in the near future.

Mary Ann Murphy House - 09/14/17 thru 09/17/17

  • 4 of 5

The house was very clean and kept up. Despite being in a mountainous location her detailed directions made it easy to find. Excellent location inside Yosemite National Park! She was prompt in returning our security deposit in full. Easy check-out procedure. Plenty of information was available at the house on activities in the area and location of amenities such as gas, groceries, restaurants, etc. It was an excellent vacation experience! However, the picture exposing the front of the house on the website should be updated since many of the trees surrounding it have been logged out.

Owner's Response: The trees were just cut down last month and I am looking for someone to "clean up" (remove the down trees) yard before I have more pictures taken. I understand the disappointment

Nice cabin at Yosemite

  • 4 of 5

Our family had a very pleasant stay at Yosemite. The cabin is spacious and great for families. Yosemite West is a quiet residential community with beautiful views of the mountains and a pleasant drive to the valley floor. Close to Glacier Point for fantastic views and hikes. Wifi is not available and garbage removal is not convenient due to bear problems, but overall a very nice stay.

Car: necessary

My vacation home is located inside Yosemite park eliminating the need to wait in line for re-entry. It is among the closest accommodations to the major attractions such as Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point, Wawona Golf Course, the Mariposa Grove (which is closed for Restoration till July 2017) and various trail heads. I allow 30 minutes to get down to the Valley a little longer to get to the Golf Course, When I go to the Mariposa Grove I'll park my car at the Wawona store and take the shuttle bus.

I would advise anyone staying in Yosemite West and preparing their own meals, to do their grocery shopping before they enter the park. There are grocery stores in the Valley and at the Wawona store but most of the prices are higher.

Then there are restaurants, from the dining room at the Ahwahnee to the pizza deck in Curry Village

IF at all possible I would recommend one stays at least a week because there is so much to do. In the Valley I would recommend parking your car in the Day Use Parking then taking the free shuttle bus around.

A popular place is the Ahwahnee, a 4 diamond hotel which was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987. Dinning used to require a jacket for men but has eased up on that tradition and now collard shirts for men and woman may wear dress or slacks and blouse. Historic Ahwahnee Tours are also available.

The visitor center is a must stop. The staff is always helpful with how to plan your stay in Yosemite. They can also tell you about the ranger's program and Interpretive walks

There's a bookstore and museum near by.

There's the Ansel Adams Gallery which offers photography workshops and a camera walk (class size & availability are limited).

You are in Bear country which means food may only be inside your car (out of sight, widows completely closed) during daylight hours. Remember to clear your car of food wrappers, crumbs in baby seats, and baby wipes. Even canned food and drinks must be removed from your car.
