great location and nice house for family get away
The home was well equipped and perfect for a family trip. Kids enjoyed the games and everyone had fun playing pool after a day in the park. The decks were all great.....nice peaceful get away!
The pictures don't do it justice.
This was a great place to stay if you are looking for a spot close to Yosemite Valley. It only takes about 30 minutes to drive into the valley and the route is gorgeous!! The house is accommodating to say the least. It is in a beautiful neighborhood and is comfortable for a large group. Lots of refrigerator and freezer space. 2 king beds and 2 queen beds + 2 large couches. Full kitchen (my favorite part). And even though there are neighbors you still feel secluded. Book it!
Clean and convenient home near Yosemite Valley
This home is located only 30 minutes from Yosemite Valley. Kicking off an early morning hike is a dream from this location - great for beating the crowds into the park! The home decor was older, but spotless. The grill, satellite TV (for watching the Olympics!) was great and the beds were very comfortable. Mary was a communicative and friendly host and the kitchen was outfitted with basic cooking tools. Thanks for a great stay!
Great location for Yosemite vacation
This property is perfect for a family vacation. The rooms are large, including both bathrooms. The kitchen is very well stocked and conducive to cooking family meals.
When we arrived the house was very clean. The owner was very responsive when we had questions. As she indicates in her description of the property, the entrance to the house is up a flight of moderately steep steps which was not a problem for us.
The location is easy access to Glacier Point Road. I would recommend the property to families and groups of friends as it is spacious and the kitchen/eating area works well for a group.
Review of property # 3939734
This is a good but certainly not a great rental property. There are a number of outstanding features including 1) the location and access to Yosemite NP, 2) three spacious beds rooms, 3) two full baths, 4) a well equipped kitchen, 5) a comfortable "family room" and 6) a separate game room with a pool table.
On the negative side, 1) the only access to the house is up 33 stair steps, this was not an issue for us but for parties including very elderly or handicapped people it would be a deal breaker and 2) the house was not clean relative to the standards that we maintain in our own home.
Finally, we had a mix-up with respect to the pass code to gain access to the house. This was mostly my fault as it was provided in the documentation that we received (just not in an obvious place). However, when we encountered this problem there was no one available to provide assistance. We were given a contact number for local "care takers" but they were not available. With the help of some "good samaritans" we were able to resolve the issue (the access code had been set as the last 4 digits of my cell #). Please understand that the location is somewhat remote and there is no cell service, so we had to leave to find cell service to try to contact the "care takers", who did not answer their phone. Eventually the care takers did come by either very late in the evening or early the next morning, not sure which as they left a note providing the access code info and we never actually saw them. Very disconcerting situation, since our party had a small child and we had significant perishable food with us and absolutely no where else to go. So anyone who rents this property should and understand that if something goes wrong you may be on your own for quite a while.
I would rent this place again but it would probably not be my first choice given the weak support situation and less than perfect cleanliness of the property.
Perfectly cozy family retreat
We had an amazing stay at this property, which was simply perfect for our family of five. It was clean, stocked, and accurately described, if not better in person. The owners were communicative and made the place feel very homey. Thank you for all the thoughtful details! We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to others.
Activity and Interests
My vacation home is located inside Yosemite park eliminating the need to wait in line for re-entry. It is among the closest accommodations to the major attractions such as Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point, Wawona Golf Course, the Mariposa Grove (which is closed for Restoration till July 2017) and various trail heads. I allow 30 minutes to get down to the Valley a little longer to get to the Golf Course, When I go to the Mariposa Grove I'll park my car at the Wawona store and take the shuttle bus.
I would advise anyone staying in Yosemite West and preparing their own meals, to do their grocery shopping before they enter the park. There are grocery stores in the Valley and at the Wawona store but most of the prices are higher.
Then there are restaurants, from the dining room at the Ahwahnee to the pizza deck in Curry Village
IF at all possible I would recommend one stays at least a week because there is so much to do. In the Valley I would recommend parking your car in the Day Use Parking then taking the free shuttle bus around.
A popular place is the Ahwahnee, a 4 diamond hotel which was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987. Dinning used to require a jacket for men but has eased up on that tradition and now collard shirts for men and woman may wear dress or slacks and blouse. Historic Ahwahnee Tours are also available.
The visitor center is a must stop. The staff is always helpful with how to plan your stay in Yosemite. They can also tell you about the ranger's program and Interpretive walks
There's a bookstore and museum near by.
There's the Ansel Adams Gallery which offers photography workshops and a camera walk (class size & availability are limited).
You are in Bear country which means food may only be inside your car (out of sight, widows completely closed) during daylight hours. Remember to clear your car of food wrappers, crumbs in baby seats, and baby wipes. Even canned food and drinks must be removed from your car.
