Everything we needed for wonderful family time!
We were visiting Florida to spend time with our family, including two young grandsons, and this home was everything we needed for a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! We caught fish off the dock, the boys swam in the pool, and we had an amazing time. Thank you for everything!
Cheryl Scarlett and family
Hi Cheryl, so glad to see you and your family enjoy the home. It’s always wonderful seeing other families enjoying time spent in our home. Enjoy the holidays, hope to see you again soon.
This is an awesome vacation house with a great location. If you are planning on bringing a boat this is the spot for you. The canal is nice and deep. You can be in the Gulf in a matter of minutes.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. It’s always a pleasure to hear that another family had the ability to Enjoy our home
I’m glad the location what is good for you when your family, and happy to hear you enjoyed the new docK.
House was great. Location awesome.
We ran into a few glitches. I had specifically asked if we could launch our boat from the community boat ramp. The key to the ramp was not in the house as stated. We finally received a key 4 days into vacation. We had to launch in Tarpon Springs. The next problem was the hit tub was not working. Luckily my mechanically inclined son was able to take off a panel and reset the tub. Don't plan on going to the community beach, apparently short term rentersv (10 nights) are not allowed. A very rude gatekeeper lady ran us out because we had no card to enter. Lastly the kitchen sink main drain came apart and we had some kitchen leaking. Ralph had someone out that day to fix it.
I would recommend to the owner that all these items be checked before each guest arrives. As far as the beach...tge reviews from long term tenants compliment the beach...dont assume short term tenants should know we are not allowed. It was very embarrassing. I will not rent here again. We will stay in the other home we have used in the past. We had zero issues there.
I apologize about the key for the boat ramp not being available upon your arrival. Unfortunately not every family that comes launches a boat from our private boat ramp. I do however pay a lot of money to provide access to this every year to make it more convenient for families to have access to the ramp. It’s horrible that the key was not there and that some other family in the past miss placed it. Be assured this is now part of the housekeepers protocol to make sure the key is there every time. Is very upsetting that short term tenants no longer have access to the community beach, but they’re not only plenty of beautiful beaches nearby there is still access to the gulf , State and private island by boat,. As far as the other home you stayed in the past inside the same community as ours, you will find out next year that they can no longer offer you access to the private beach either. Unfortunately this was a decision within the community that was made. I was certainly not in favor of it and efforts are being made to have it changed back to the way it was . But this affected all the homes in the community not just mine.
As far as a leaky sink, there is no way for seeing a leaky sink. And please keep in mind, the whole kitchen was totally remodeled less than six months ago including the plumbing. The plumber that came to the house to make the repairs claimed that the pipe under the sink was “knocked off “. But I never mention that to you nor did I hold back any security for the repairs. There are a lot of conveniences to staying in a home compared to a hotel , yeah please remember, will you get reasonably a lot more from renting a home there is certainly more responsibility and maintenance that goes into a private home opposed to renting a room in a hotel
Economically, you could never get in a hotel what you receive while renting someone’s home.
The best to you and your family and all the luck in your future endeavors
Nice home, nice area really enjoyed our stay. Ralph the owner was quick to respond to any questions.
Loved the area not touristy, really enjoyed the pool the home is quaint and clean. A good deal for the money.
Great stay! Ask the comforts of home!
Ralph was so helpful and committed to our vacation at his home. We were ableto bring our boat and dock it right outside. The pool was so refreshing after a hot day in the sun. Fun fishing and shelling and just enjoying tha area. Lunch at Tarpon Springs and dinner in Hudson. Great family vacation and always great to be able to bring our fur babies with us.
I’m glad you and your family enjoyed your stay at our home. And were able to go see the area. It’s always nice hearing from families that have the opportunity to stay in our home. Thank you Ralph
Very nice house for the price.
We enjoyed our stay at this property. We had 5 family members staying here for a family wedding in the area. We enjoyed the pool, hot tub and private beach in the subdivision. Ralph was great to work with and was quick to respond to any question we had
I’m glad you and your family enjoyed your stay. It was great having you. Thank you
This beautiful, very quiet and peaceful home in an exclusive residential community is just minutes to the beaches. It is situated on the water. Watch magnificent sunsets from the private community beach, one mile away. Fishing is excellent.
Florida beaches in the area: The beaches along the Sun Coast of Florida are some of the most beautiful and safest in the world. These include the following: Anclote Key State Park and Game Preserve, Fred Howard Park, Tarpon Springs, Clearwater Beach, Caladesi Island, Honeymoon Island, Treasure Island, St Pete Beach, and Fort De Soto Park.
The string of beaches from Anclote Key in the north to Fort De Soto in the South covers 36 miles and has some of the best beaches in the United States, including Hawaii.
These beaches range from isolated, undeveloped tropical islands accessible only by boat (Anclote Key, Caladesi Island) to packed tourist beaches with all the souvenir shops, grouper sandwich shops, and nightclubs. The people that rank beaches place Caladesi Island State Park, Anclote Key State Park, and Fort De Soto park in the top ten beaches in the United States, with most of the other top ten beaches being in Hawaii.
There are more than 20 'barrier islands' called 'keys', along the Florida west coast. The Gulf waters that lap on the shores of these island are warm and clear. The slope of the beach is very gentle, making the beaches safe for small children to play at the water's edge.
Every possible water sport can be enjoyed along these beaches including fishing in the grass flats, deep-sea fishing, boating, sailing, canoeing, sea kayaking, SCUBA diving, windsurfing, shelling, para-sailing, swimming, and water skiing.
Anclote Key State Park and Game Preserve
More than 1,000 years ago, this island was pushed up from the floor of the Gulf of Mexico to rest on a limestone platform. It is still slowly growing today and its size has increased by more than 25% since 1956. This four mile long island is one of the few truly unspoiled and undeveloped islands left along the Florida coast.
The abandoned lighthouse on the southern end of this remote island adds to the islands fragile beauty and character. The lighthouse was built in the 1880's and served almost 100 years to protect the mariners in the Gulf of Mexico. With the advent of more modern navigational tools such as the Long Range Navigation System (LORAN), and later the Global Position System (GPS), the lighthouse became obsolete. It was decommissioned in 1984 and for the last 16 years has been abandoned.
Rare and endangered birds and turtles inhabit Anclote Key.
Visitors travel to the island by boat every year to enjoy the more than 43 species of birds that live there including the American oystercatcher, bald eagle, and ospreys (sometimes called fish eagles). The ospreys have numerous nesting sites in the tall pine trees that cover the island. Turtles can also be spotted on the island including endangered loggerheads and green turtles.
The main activity on the island is swimming in the shallow Gulf waters that are as warm as a bathtub in the summers. The gradual slope of the beaches makes it easy for oldsters as well as youngsters to enjoy the clear warm waters, which are said by some to provide comfort for the soul as well as the body. Shelling is also a favorite activity. Several species of shells can be collected. Sand dollars can also be found by digging your toes into the sand in about two or three feet of water and feeling the sand dollars under the surface of the sand.
