A fantastic and comfortable home for relaxing as a family or entertaining with a circular drive out the back door for easy access.
House has picture windows in the living room so you can dine while watching the bay and in the master bedroom where you can look out from the the Queen sized bed. Sitting on the front terrace in the shade or on the soft, white sand on the private beach you can watch racing sailboats hoist their brilliant spinnakers and beach strollers pass by. The screened-in side porch catches the breeze and makes humid afternoons lovely.
There are no stones in the water in front of our house and the sandy bottom goes out gradually.
The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed, two dressers, desk, loveseat, an ample closet, a ceiling fan as well as the picture window overlooking the lake with side lights that open to the front breeze, and a side window for cross air flow.
The downstairs side bedroom has two twin beds, built in dressers and desk, two closets, an electric, built-in heater, and a door that opens onto the side porch.
The two back bedrooms -- one upstairs, one down -- have double beds and dressers as well as windows on two sides for cross breezes. The downstairs room has a closet and its own personal sink!
There is a half bath -- toilet and sink -- upstairs, a full bath downstairs, and a separate shower stall and toilet closet in the laundry room. There is a top-loading washing machine, front-loading dryer, and laundry sink.
The kitchen has stained-the-steel counters and sink, a two-year old refrigerator and a two-oven electric stove. There are dishes, glasses, cooking utensils, pots and pans, and spices for your use.
This is the beach to which our great-grandfather would bring our grandmother for the summer on the boat from Buffalo, New York. The house belongs to our mother who spent every summer of her life in a rental to the west until her parents purchased and remodeled the house when she was in her early twenties. The houses to the west belong to descendents of our grandparents's closest friends, and we, as third generation Bay Beach children, now help Mom manage the place.
Toni Rubin purchased this house in 1947
Mom began renting the place for part summers in 1964 and the family has five decades of experience dealing with tenants. Not surprisingly, since it is the summer home in which we grew up and is filled with many of Mom's personal items such as artwork, piano, and furniture, we prefer to rent to families in weekly increments.
Our house is older and not as modern or fancy as many others, but it is comfortable and located in one of the finest stretches of beach in the area with no rocks in the water, no vegetation growing on the beach, a driveway that lets you bring your groceries directly into the house. That driveway feature, with circular parking at the top is rare in the area. The separate shower and toilet off the laundry room helps keep beach users from tracking sand throughout the house.
