About Jeanne Cain
Leonard and Jeanne Cain were drawn to New Mexico and southwestern Colorado by the crystal clear skies, aspen and pine forests and rivers with their majestic red rock canyons. After working in rural health care clinics, they moved to the Cortez area where Leonard had a family medical practice. Mountain biking, backpacking, hiking, skiing, and fly fishing have been a few of their passions. Their many years of zen study are reflected in the open quiet spaces they have built and the sculptural ceramic and fiber arts Jeanne currently pursues. After 35 years of living in the southwest, the family is eager to share their enchantment in this retreat setting and in the surrounding area which is a rich cultural crossroads of native American life, cattle ranching, and outdoor splendors.
What makes this House unique
This quiet setting allows you to contemplate expansive vistas of the mesa and mountains or catch the migrations of elk and deer foraging on grasses right up to your windows. A shared hot tub lets you take in even greater views on star lit nights of the Milky Way and orbiting planets. Early morning or evening walks on the private trail built by the creator of Phil's World, a nationally heralded biking park, is a soothing and easy amble through sage brush and pinon and juniper forestation...

Wonderful Family Basecamp
Casa Cielo served as a comfortable, quiet and proximate family basecamp to Durango Triangle adventures. The property was very functional for our family of four and had all the creature comforts we needed. The quiet, views of Sleeping Ute Mountain/Mesa Verde and overall vibe was excellent. We visited various sites in Dolores, Cortez, Mancos, Mesa Verde, Durango and Purgatory. This location served as a wonderful launching off point and it was extremely enjoyable just hanging out on the property for hours. Phil's World, the most fun mountain bike trail system that I have ever ridden, is a mere 15 minutes from the property. After putting the kids down to bed, sitting outside and watching the enchanting sunset with a festive beverage was a real treat. All in all, I thank Jeanne for her wonderful property and sharing it with us. Many great memories were made and we will be coming back.
A beautiful, quiet get-a-way.
Beauty and serenity
Such a lovely furnished home located in a peaceful beautiful setting. I love my stay and you will too.
This is a wonderful place to stay. We enjoyed ourselves. The house had all the comforts of home, plus a great view. The owner was very helpful in giving us directions to the home. The location is near many national parks and monuments. I was amazed at the fully equipped kitchen including a crock pot and all the necessary items needed to fix a supper.
Wonderful accommodations, beautiful setting. Convenient to so many attractions. Owners were so helpful and generous. Definitely would stay again!
PERFECTION all around!
If you are looking for beauty and hospitality--This is it! Gorgeous views all around. The house is welcoming and styled lovely. So many small things there to make the stay even better. Jeanne was a perfect host! My only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer!
