Great Condo

We really enjoyed our stay at this condo. We are repeat renters in Wildwood and this place did not disappoint. I am very picky when it comes to cleanliness and having the property exactly as represented. We usually stay in the vicinity of the middle of the boardwalk, so was a little concerned about being at the end, near the Crest. However, this turned out to be a great location. Usually, we have to take our car to restaurants and boat excursions. Everything at this end was a walk or bike ride! We walked to my favorite eateries and my son and husband rode bikes to their deep sea fishing trip. Tram car stops at end of the street if you needed it for the boardwalk. Condo was very clean. Quiet neighborhood. Loved the balcony from which you could see the ocean. The bikes in the closet were a huge bonus. I had not one complaint about this rental.

Questionable upkeep of unit caused numerous major interruptions of our vacation on a daily basis

Smoke Detectors Failed: On our first day in the unit, after our 5 year old granddaughter started her nap, all smoke detectors in the condo unit commenced alarming simultaneously. My granddaughter, who has a genuine fear of loud noises, was sleeping in the top bunk just a few feet away from the detector. She began screaming. I tried to call the emergency contact numbers that the realty had provided for off-hour realtor assistance. No one answers, left message, hour later we got call back, detectors still wailing. After reporting problem another hour before maintenance employee arrives. He checked several of the detectors and looked for source of carbon monoxide which would trip detectors. He could not determine a source of CO, nor have the equipment to sample the unit for CO levels. He did what I should have done originally: called 911 instead of wasting time with the realtor. The fire trucks were there shortly.

Thank God that CO levels were OK. All the detectors had to be removed from to stop noise. The firemen saw that all but one detector was more than 10 years old, the allowed lifespan of these detectors. The date on the one that was less than 10 years old indicated that it had been replaced earlier this year. Why didn’t the replacement of this unit, which had likely failed, cause the rest of the detectors to be replaced at that time? The fireman stated that we would have to evacuate the condo. The maintenance man said he could place some spare detectors in the three bedrooms. The firemen agreed that this would be appropriate.

Inoperable garage door: Upon arrival at the unit after a 9 hour drive through busy traffic we found the garage door was locked shut and inoperable. Being a Saturday evening parking on the street was scarce. We found a spot at $48/day/car. The failed garage door also prevented us from using those bikes and getting the garbage out to the curb.

Potential leakage of water from our bathtub through roof vent into the unit below: Also earlier on the first full day, water had reportedly leaked into the condo unit below. My wife had taken a bath, no water on floor, maybe leakage from the drain piping? After reporting this condition to the realtor, the solution was don’t use the bathroom. If we have a problem just stop using it?

Next Day after that: Condo association had an electrician check for a wiring short in condo. He found faulty wiring in exterior wall and improper switches in lights

Owner's Response: All inspections are up to date and all fire certificates are valid. All systems are functioning properly - garage door, plumbing, electrical, and fire suppression systems. We were very happy with the condo. Very nicely decorated with a comfortable, homey feel. Has everything you need and a short walk to Convention Center and Boardwalk. We would definitely stay there again and would highly recommend.

Often voted as among the best in the country, the Wildwood beaches stretch on for five expansive miles — making them the largest and widest at the Jersey shore and on the entire Atlantic Coast. The very best part? With no beach tags required, they’re FREE! FREE BEACHES!

Overlooking it all is the world-famous Wildwood Boardwalk. This is 2 miles and 38 blocks packed end to end with stores, shops, water parks, eateries, live entertainment and amusement piers with over 100 rides and attractions. The boardwalk features a trolley called “The Tramcar”, which runs from end to end. “Watch the Tramcar Please! Watch the Tramcar Please!” If you have never heard this for yourself in person, you are missing out.

The sights, the sounds and the smells of the Wildwoods Boardwalk are pure sensory overload! There is something for everyone here. The Wildwood Boardwalk features several amusement parks and shops, most notably three piers collectively known as “Morey’s Piers”. You will find over a hundred rides and three different water parks to choose from.

Due to the very wide beaches, the beach is home to many sporting events, concerts, car shows, and monster truck rallies in view of the boardwalk. A stage is set off to the side of the boardwalk near Mariner's Landing Pier where several performances are held throughout the summer.

Wildwood is home to over 200 motels, built during the Doo-Wop era of the 1950s and 1960s, in an area recognized by the state of New Jersey, known as the Wildwoods Shore Resort Historic District. The term 'doo-wop' is used to describe this unique, space-age architectural style. The motels here are unique in appearance, with Vegas-like neon signs. A 1950s Doo Wop museum includes property from demolished motels such as neon signs and furniture. There are many “Neo-Doo Wop” buildings in the area as well, such as a neon lit Wawa and a 1950s styled Acme Supermarket, and even a Doo-Wop TD Bank!
