Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying at the house to celebrate my husband's birthday. The house is comfortable, has everything you need and a great deck overlooking the river. Access to the river did not work for us - as the website stated, it is a little bit of a steep incline to get to the water. We still enjoyed the view of the river and seeing deer, birds and other wildlife. The air conditioning was welcome and needed! It was 100 degrees a couple of the days we were there but the air conditioning and fans kept it nice and cool inside. Scott, the owner, was great to work with. We will be looking forward to taking our entire family some time next year.

Great River Experience

  • 4 of 5

The house was well appointed overall and had everything we needed. The setting was quiet and private. The house was clean although a bit dusty. Having the laundry available was nice for towels and 3 bedrooms really worked well for our family. The air conditioning was nice to have in July. The house had bottled water, soap, shampoo, and all the other things you need to have an easy stay. We brought our dog with us, who was able to hang out on the large deck while we were off tubing or eating sausages.

Really great about the house was the location on the Icicle River. Literally a walk off the deck, down a small embankment, and into the river. There is a big sandbar in front of the house (at least in late July) and public access to the river a few houses down. All weekend long the tubing trips from the professional companies in Leavenworth were cruising by + lots of kids using the public access made for great fun. We loaded up the ice chest and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves for a few nice hot July days.

It's a short drive up to the fish hatchery to put your tubes into water. Plenty of parking and about a 10 minute bike ride from the house to pick up the car. You can float for about 40 minutes from the hatchery and arrive right at the house. The bike ride into town was about 2.5 miles, which we were able to do with the kids in about 15 minutes.

Fantastic summer vacation rental

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay on Scott's on Icicle Creek. My husband, myself, our 12 year old daughter, and mini Australian Shepherd had super fun. We played volleyball in the spacious back yard. Went tubing twice once with a guided tour and once just out the door. If you have only one car the way to do it is to drop off people at your entry point, drive the car to the pick up location, then it's a $5 taxi ride back up to your entry point. Big 5 or Costco have reasonably priced "floating palaces". We also took our daughter rock climbing for the first time. Highly recommend the guide book Leavenworth Rock for this. We also hiked which our dog Finn really liked. There's a great loop hike which crosses Icicle Creek. Of course did tons of shopping in town. Get there before 10 am for a good parking space. My daughter got her hair cut at Polish Salon. We just walked in. They were super nice and able to get us right in. Have lunch at the Gingerbread House and some gingerbread cookies! Last but not least is the Leavenworth Zipline over in Plain. We left early, had a hearty breakfast in Plain. Unfortunately I can't remember the name. My husband and daughter ziplined while I dog sat. Finn and I went hiking at Lake Wenatchee State Park. Dogs must be leashed there. We also enjoyed just relaxing on the deck and watching the chipmunks and birds and the people enjoying the river. There is bird seed in a tin on the deck. I'm afraid I used up a lot of it feeding the critters. The washer and dryer were very nice to have. Fully stocked kitchen. DISH TV. We liked the Netflix. Beds were comfortable. The house stayed very cool and pleasant even in the hot afternoons. Scott is fast to respond to any questions. No problems with getting it all paid. I like the credit card option rather than sending strangers large checks. It takes the stress out of payment. All in all we had a great time and I would highly recommend the vacation rental. We'll have to come back and play in the snow!

Slice of heaven

  • 5 of 5

The house was most comfortable: great beds and large comfy couch. The kitchen had everything we needed. The location couldn't be beat: close to town and close to hikes. But best of all was the deck. It was just divine to enjoy the soothing river - just divine. Will be back!

First reaction when we walked in was, WOW! What a beautiful view.

  • 5 of 5

We were very fortunate to be there when there was a Stark Jay nest with 3 babies right outside the kitchen window. Mama Jay was very thankful for our bird seed and peanuts that she could feed her babies. What a beautiful thing to watch.

The house is very nice and was very clean. The property is very large and so peaceful. We enjoyed all the birds and squirrels that visited throughout our stay. We enjoyed a nightly barbeque on the very nice and large deck that overlooks the river. You feel like you are in your own sanctuary with the privacy and wildlife. We will definitely stay here again.

From the Owner

My parents built this house and the one next door in the early 70's when there were only a handful of houses on Shore St.

From the Owner

This property consists of 2.5 acres with 600' of river frontage. Most of the property is wooded and I maintain it as a wildlife refuge. The property across the river, because of waterway regulations, does not and will not have any structures, so it also serves as a de facto wildlife refuge. As a consequence, there is often a lot of wildlife. It is not at all unusual to see deer in the yard. Occasionally one will be lucky enough to see a bear or coyote as well. For those who like birds, it is a wonderful location where you can see a wide variety of songbirds, waterfowl, eagles, hawks and ospreys. There is access to the river right off the spacious deck, for kayaking, rafting, wading, or fishing (in season). In a couple of hours (depending on the river height) you can raft or tube to town. In spite of the feeling of seclusion, you are only a little over two miles from downtown Leavenworth, an easy bike ride, or even a pleasant walk away.
