About Jeff DuPilka
The cottage and surrounding property have been in the DuPilka family since 1957 when my parents, Joseph and Doris purchased it. Over the year they were able to acquire some additional lots for the property is protected from development. I have been coming to Bear Lake since I was 5 years olds. If I had my way, I would be here all the time but, hey, a guy has to work, right. I do try to come up as many weekends during the summer season that I can and I also am up quite a lot in the winter. The area is beautiful with a fresh, clean snowfall.
Why Jeff DuPilka chose Bear Lake
I was five years old when my folks purchased the property in 1957. The original purchase consisted of 300 feet on the lake which included two cottages and a garage. The cottage you are in now and one other which we called the Bunkhouse. The bunkhouse was remodeled into the house next door in the early 1970’s. This cottage was originally as big as the kitchen area and was actually moved here on two very large cedar logs approximately 36 feet long. The logs are still in place under the structure today.
What makes this Cottage unique
Lake frontage, proximity to cities, both big and small in in Michigan, Grand Rapids, Traverse City, Detroit, Manistee, Holland, Big Rapids, Flint. I have had quite a few renters from Indiana over the last couple of years as well as a couple of people from Florida. Bear Lake is a draw for people from all over that want to be able to unwind, relax and enjoy themselves. Bear Lake is an all sports lake and activities on the water include, fishing, boating, skiing, swimming, jet skiing, kayaking, canoeing and just about any water activity you can think of. Lots to do in and around the water. The cottage has boat dock access. As me about pontoon and kayak rental if you have an interest in either of those activities. Fire pit and fire wood available on the property for your enjoyment.

Cool place - small and quiant with plenty of beds. Owners very nice and accomodating.
Our stay the first week of October 2018.
The cottage was warm and cozy with comfy beds. We were able to hit all kinds of places to visit...The week was chilly and wet so we weren't able to enjoy the deck like we wanted but we enjoyed our stay very much.
Even with record hot temps we loved it!!!! Thanks Jeff and Cheryl for your hospitality!
Great view of the lake
Our stay was very peaceful and the kids really enjoyed it! Our kids loved it and were not ready to go home yet. The lake water was very clear and sandy. Very nice for swimming! Jeff was very nice and helpful. Our family would like to come back sometime!
Jeff was super kind and accommodating. We enjoyed swimming, fishing and boating! The lake is shallow for quite a ways which was perfect for our young son. The cottage is fully stocked with mostly everything you could need. There is a great market nearby for all of your forgotten items. We explored Onekema and Arcadia which were very close by.
It was a great place to unplug (but not too much thanks to cable and wifi)! We hope to return!!
Great history in this property. Jeff the owner was very gracious and friendly. We loved it.
