2 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Over Looking The Beach
About Emily Pangborn
I moved to the area in 2002 and have known Steve (the owner) since then. I used to visit Cedar Landing once a year and then in 2012 Steve asked me to manage the cottages for him and I have been doing so ever since. Steve is great to work for and he and I make a great team.
Emily Pangborn purchased this Cabin in 2004
Why Emily Pangborn chose Honor
This property has just the right mixture of cabin and cottage, old and new, relaxation and activity. Steve and I both love the challenge of maintaining the charm but keeping Cedar Landing up to date. We both enjoy sharing "our" cottage with yearly renters who have now become part of our family!
What makes this Cabin unique
Cedar Landing is such a fun place to stay! They are literally right on the beach/lake. Adults, kids, and pets all love it here, and having a fabulous restaurant right down only adds to the allure. There is so much to do in our area, for a full list of recommendations please view our website.

Great family vacation!
A wonderful little cabin on the lake! My family of 6 enjoyed our stay. With no Wi-Fi and limited phone access we were forced to unplug and spend time together- swimming.kayaking, hiking. biking and game time. We recommend this one! A reasonable drive to everything we wanted to see and do. And my dogs loved the water!
Lovely property with superb proximity to local attractions!
Our family of 7 just completed our stay at Cabin 4 of Cedar Landing Resort. We were pleasantly surprised with the (yes, small but efficient)accommodations, the location and the beauty of the lake. We greatly appreciated the use of the kayaks, row boat and water toys. The beach is shared however we had it mostly to ourselves due to staggered check ins and day trips by the other guests staying in Cabin 5, which are felt spoiled by. This property is ideal for those with small children as you can easily keep an eye out from almost anywhere on the property. The lake is tranquil and we felt safe allowing our older children to kayak around. The beach is by far the best we observed around the lake however the sand is very dark and results in a mess, so bring towels and swimwear you don't mind getting dirty.
The kitchen was well stocked and adequate for making meals and there is a charcoal grill on the ample deck with picnic table that we made use of for all of our meals. Nice firepit and all the tools needed for a great campfire. Surprise basketball hoop!
It was a quick 15 minute drive to both Beulah and Frankfort and literally right down the road from Crystal Lake, although we were content to enjoy the nature right outside our door! We made the 30 minute drive to the Dune climb but missed the opportunity to hike Old Indian Trail which is minutes away.
Overall, excellent stay and looking forward to our return!
No WiFi - no worries - takes you back to a simpler time. Very small, don’t bring much - nice that kayaks and water toys are included. Lake is beautiful and quiet.
Not for those that want luxury, but we enjoyed the rustic.
Nice for a State fan!
It was a nice stay with a beautiful view. The water was warm, but murky. Plenty of Kayaks for the whole family at once will always be an awesome memory! Had plenty of tissue, paper towels.dish soap, hand soap, garbage bags, extra bedding and towels. Even had some charcoal, lighter fluid and firewood. Television had a lot of movie channels for insomniacs and rainy days. Also found a couple of games.
Aggravated by ants a couple times. Sat my cup in grass next to lawn chair when we first arrived. When I reached back down to pick it up it had been completely taken over. Never seen so many so fast! Wanted to sit at the picnic table and watch the sunrise the next morning, but I ended up letting the ants have it. They were everywhere like they were scanning every inch for food from the night before.
There are a lot of wooden steps to get down to the cabin that are rough on old knees. Also the wooden chairs provided for additional seating to the futon couch could use some cushions.
Location right on M-22 was awesome access for exploring Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore and the surrounding little towns. Driveway was easy to find after 4:30 p.m. because of the cars parked on both sides of the road for the amazing Manitou restaurant.
It was a great vacation with just a few minor inconveniences and a few State fans! Left the morning after the Ohio State fans showed up in cabin 5. Go Blue!
Thank you for taking the time to review Cedar Landing. We are glad to hear that you had an overall pleasant stay, and that our amenities met your needs. However we would like to address some of the complaints you had:
Our cottage is in Northern Michigan, where the weather changes constantly, as such the water conditions change as well and sometimes the water is murky. Also, due to our geographic location our soil is sand, which is a prime location for ants. I apologize that nature seemed to get the best of you.
You are not the first to complain about the stairs, that is why our property clearly states that it is not handicap accessible, and that there are many stairs.
Great location, clean cabin and wonderful outdoor amenities!
The property is in a great location. Everything you need inside and outside of the cabin for a great vacation. Very clean and well maintained. Fun extended weekend away for three adults, three teenagers and two dogs!
Thank you for your review of Cedar Landing, we are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay!
Fantastic Family Vacation!
Just came back from a wonderful weekend! Great little cabin, many amenities that just make for a great stay - many kayaks, little boats for the kids, noodles, nice fishing boat, tons of outdoor furniture, many paddles, floats, basketballs and a little basketball court, sand toys, dog tie out, and even little things like paper towel, hand soap and dish soap, coffee filters, many extra blankets, nice clean beds and dressers, cute little tv and expanding table, great working air conditioner, tons of extra towels, a table cloth- everything you need that you didn’t realize you needed! We had a nice quiet neighbor family, even our small dogs were friends. We will be back! Thanks for a great stay!
