Beautiful cottage!

  • 5 of 5

I brought a few ladies from church here for a ladies weekend, and everyone was impressed with the cottage and asked me how I found it. I think we will have to plan another ladies weekend here.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your nice review and for leaving "While We're At It" in such fine shape. Our cottages are pretty popular with ladies (including my wife's) groups. Some of the antique knick-knacks you see in the cottage are from ladies who have donated them to us because they were just sitting in their closets. This includes the antique chamber pot on the bedroom shelf. While we tried to keep the "Gretna vintage feel" of the cottage, we did install the new bathrooms so you wouldn't have to use that item like they did here in the 18 and 1900's. I'm glad you had a nice time and we look forward to seeing you again. Bob & Tammy

Owner's Response: Thank you for that nice review. Yes it is very relaxing here. We love sitting on the porch while reading a book or listening to the music coming from the Mt. Gretna Campmeeting Tabernacle. The only problem is you meet so many nice people walking by sometimes it's hard to get through a chapter. Again thanks for staying with us and we look forward to seeing you again. Bob & Tammy

Perfect for our reunion

  • 5 of 5

"While We're at It" was the perfect house for our reunion. Six of us spent a week there and loved every minute. The house is charming and beautifully furnished and equipped, and Bob and Tammy couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. Lots to do in Mt. Gretna and the surrounding countryside. Highly recommend this place!

Owner's Response: Thank you for that nice review. We're glad you and your family had such a great time here in Mt. Gretna Campmeeting. Your right, I grew up just a little bit north of Hershey, PA and I'm still finding treasured places in these small towns to visit. Thanks for staying with us and we look forward to seeing you again. Beautifully restored and clean!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the quaintness of the house and the neighborhood. The house was clean and Bob made every effort to accommodate us. We had 4 teenage grandchildren to keep entertained so when the wifi went out, Bob came over and fixed it personally for us. We'll definitely try to come back and stay here. Thank you to Bob and his wife for everything!

Owner's Response: Thank you Vicky & Family for that nice review. We do pride ourselves on keeping our cottages clean and well maintained. I know the importance of wifi with teenagers these days. My son is a "Player/Manager for "Riot" games in California and I'm still trying to figure out what he does. Also with "Pokemon Go" we see kids (and adults) roaming the streets "catching them all." The Mt. Gretna Campmeeting Tabernacle area seems to be a popular place for Pokemon to congregate. I'm glad the kids had such a good time. Kids also really love exploring this safe cottage community and most can't get enough of the Mt. Gretna Lake and Beach. Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you again. Bob & Tammy

The cottage is beautiful, the Mt Gretna Campmeeting community is welcoming and wonderful, and there is so much to do in the area! Our kids (5 and 8) loved the evening music show (Girl Groups of the '60s!) at the nearby Tabernacle, ice cream at the Jigger Shop, breakfast at the Porch & Pantry, mini-golf, the playgrounds, and of course a day-trip to Hershey Park. Bob and Tammy were wonderfully helpful, answered email instantly, and left us a delicious jar of homemade apple butter. My 8-year-old son wants to live there. We can't wait to return.

Owner's Response: Thanks for that nice review and staying at our cottage "While We're At It." I'm glad you and the kids had such a good time, having your son want to live here is a good indication of the fun times you had although it would definitely be a long commute to work for you. Again thanks for visiting and we hope to see you again here at Mt. Gretna. Bob & Tammy

Fabulous Weekend in Mt. Gretna

  • 5 of 5

I just returned from a wonderful weekend away at "While We're At It" with my Book Club, and it was a unanimous decision that we will definitely return! The house is absolutely charming - full of beautiful antiques, and yet completely updated with modern appliances, two brand new bathrooms, a Keurig coffee maker, microwave, and more! It was great not having to worry about bringing linens and towels. Towels were in ample supply as were many other essentials for our stay. We got to meet Bob and Tammy as they were working on a neighboring house they recently purchased. The two homes will make a great getaway for a family reunion, as they share a common patio in the back. Tammy gave us a tour of the new home and shared interesting details about the renovation of "While We're At It," as well as details about all of the summer events in Mt. Gretna. Such a lovely couple! While there, we explored some of the many hiking trails and also had lovely strolls through the streets of the Camp Meeting and Chautauqua areas. We could picture what a bustling place this might be during the summer, but if you're looking for a quiet getaway, the off-season is perfect! Best of all Bob and Tammy gave us generous check-in/check-out times - 9:00 am Friday morning through 6:00 pm Sunday night! We never wanted to leave!!! I definitely recommend this property and their new one to be ready in the summer of 2016. A terrific getaway from our busy schedules and so close to Philadelphia! Highly recommended!!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for that very nice review. We love resurrecting these cottages and bringing them back to as much as their original charm as possible but with modern bathrooms, kitchens, and heating and air-conditiong. We fell in love with Mt. Gretna years ago but now with the kids finished with college and Tammy now retired we now have more time for our "Gretna" hobby. We love having others experience our renovated cottages and the Mt. Gretna charm.
