Nature has its Way of Drawing people to this area with its Scenery and Weather
About Kathy Lambert-Lyons
I have been in the Real Estate Business for 28 years. This is my first adventure in the world of Vacation Rentals. My family vacationed in this area when I was a child. Adventures to places like Grandfather Mountain &, Tweetsie Railroad are some of my favorite childhood memories. I feel Blessed to be able to call North Carolina my home for 6 or more months a year. Doubly Blessed to have a Guest house to share with You.
Kathy Lambert-Lyons purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why Kathy Lambert-Lyons chose Altamont
I choose this area for several reasons. My love of the Mountains was the first motivation. That naturally creates elevation, which leads to the pleasant weather. For two years prior to my purchase I tracked temperatures in several areas all over the United States. I wanted to be someplace that provided all four seasons. With a winter that was not too drastic. That research lead me to this area. My family vacationed here during the summer when I was a child. A most memorable trip to Grandfather Mountain left a lasting lifetime impression. I wanted something slightly out of the way, yet accessible to all the amenities. We are surrounded by Farms. This area provided more than I have been able to do in the three summers I spent here. We are just enough out, that we do not get in the hustle and bustle the Tourism season sometimes brings. No traffic. The area is safe. Great neighbors. The surroundings are peaceful and serene. I feel blessed everyday just to be here.
What makes this Cottage unique
The most Unique Benefit of the Cottage itself is the Peacefulness. This is my Guest House. I've set it up with the comforts of a home. We are located close enough to participate in Events the area provides, yet not in a tourist area. Every week-end in any direction you go there is something going on. Auctions, Antiques, Bike Riding, Canoeing, Camping, Charity Events, Classes to choose from, Churches, Concerts of many different kinds, Distilleries, Driving the Blue Ridge Parkway, Festivals, Farmers Markets, Fishing, Gem Mining, Golfing, Go Carts, Hiking, Home tours, Horse back Riding, Kayaking, Motorcycle Riding, Picnics, Many Great Restaurants, Skiing, Snow Tubing, Square Dancing, Soap making, Shopping, Swimming at Wildcat Lake, Thrift Shops, Tubing, Tweetsie Railroad, White Water Rafting, Wineries, Zip Lining, just to name a few. In seven years, I have not managed to attended 1/3 of what is available to do. Some things are seasonal, but every season has it's own uniqueness.

Quarantine vacation. 👍
Kathy was wonderful and she even upgraded my cottage. I came to visit North Carolina to celebrate my birthday, get away by myself and do some hiking. I was able to do all! Her 1 room cottage was perfect for just myself. I loved the river being right behind the cottage! The cottage had all the amenities that a person could want. Any questions I had, Kathy answered me very quickly thru text messaging. I used the fireplace once and it worked great! I had to use the air conditioner once and it worked perfect! The bed was so very comfortable I slept great every night. The area was very quiet. Hopefully things will be opened by the time I come back. The location of the cabin is perfect. . Very close to many hiking trails and the Blue Ridge Parkway! Hiking Mount Mitchell is my goal! I WILL COME BACK AGAIN!!!
Thank you Kathy!
This is the 2nd time we have rented this cottage and hopefully not our last. The location is near some of our favorite places from hiking Linville trails or shopping in Blowing Rock. The cottage itself is lovely, equipped with everything you need and things you want.. Amazing how our host Kathy wasn’t physically present but she had prepared for our stay.
Ideal location for a ski weekend. It was an easy drive to the slopes and we enjoyed relaxing on the back porch after a day of skiing. Overall, this was way more comfortable than staying in a hotel.
So glad you had a nice stay. Thanks for taking time to write a review.
We enjoyed our time
We love this place and hope to come back. We enjoyed the peacefulness of the little cottage. Thank you for letting us stay here.
So glad you had a peaceful stay. Exactly what I love to hear! Come back when you can.
Cute cottage :)
We loved our stay and fell in love with the area. The cottage was adorable and we loved being right on the river. It’s a great location close to the falls and an easy drive to ski resorts and grandfather mountain. Kathy was a wonderful host! So helpful from the start. We’ll be back!
Thank you for taking time to write a review. Sounds to me like you figured out exactly why I keep these cottages. It is hard to explain, if you haven't been there. Glad you had a nice visit. Come back when you can. Kathy
