There are several properties here that do vacation rentals. If mine are not available, I am happy to provide information for those other Cottages as well.
Once you have visited you will understand. You will want to come back again. Every person I have had visit has wanted to stay. What I am trying to provide is an experience of Peace, Relaxation and Serenity. A place to wind down and just be. Life gets so busy. There is just something about the Nature here. The sound of the River flowing by. The Birds. Occasional Ducks, Geese, Blue Crane. In the evening we've seen Beaver in the water. Deer coming from the woods for a drink. Rabbits, Chipmunks, Squirrels, and Raccoons. Lighting Bugs put on quite a show in June. The smell of fresh air is almost sweet at times. It all soothes the soul.
Reserve some time to spend here. You will not be disappointed It truly is my Sanctuary.
I feel very Blessed to have these Cottages and I am so happy to share the experience of staying here with you!
I have been in the Real Estate Business for 22 years. This is my first adventure in to the world of Vacation Rentals. My family vacationed in this area when I was a child. Adventures to places like Grandfather Mountain &, Tweetsie Railroad are some of my favorite childhood memories. I feel Blessed to be able to call North Carolina my home for 6 or more months a year. Doubly Blessed to have a Guest house to share with You.
Kathy Lambert-Lyons purchased this cottage in 2015
I choose this area for several reasons. My love of the Mountains was the first motivation. That naturally creates elevation, which leads to the pleasant weather. For two years prior to my purchase I tracked temperatures in several areas all over the United States. I wanted to be someplace that provided all four seasons. With a winter that was not too drastic. That research lead me to this area. My family vacationed here during the summer when I was a child. A most memorable trip to Grandfather Mountain left a lasting lifetime impression. I wanted something slightly out of the way, yet accessible to all the amenities. We are surrounded by Farms. This area provided more than I have been able to do in the three summers I spent here. We are just enough out, that we do not get in the hustle and bustle the Tourism season sometimes brings. No traffic. The area is safe. Great neighbors. The surroundings are peaceful and serene. I feel blessed everyday just to be here.
The most Unique Benefit of the Cottage itself is the Peacefulness. This is my Guest House. I've set it up with the comforts of a home.
We are located close enough to participate in Events the area provides, yet not in a tourist area. Every week-end in any direction you go there is something going on. Auctions, Antiques, Bike Riding, Canoeing, Camping, Charity Events, Classes to choose from, Churches, Concerts of many different kinds, Distilleries, Driving the Blue Ridge Parkway, Festivals, Farmers Markets, Fishing, Gem Mining, Golfing, Go Carts, Hiking, Home tours, Horse back Riding, Kayaking, Motorcycle Riding, Picnics, Many Great Restaurants, Skiing, Snow Tubing, Square Dancing, Soap making, Shopping, Swimming at Wildcat Lake, Thrift Shops, Tubing, Tweetsie Railroad, White Water Rafting, Wineries, Zip Lining, just to name a few.
In three years I have not managed to attended 1/3 of what is available to do.
Some things are seasonal, but every season has it's own uniqueness.
Our two night stay at this lovely little cottage couldn't have been any nicer. Thank you so much for providing everything needed to be comfortable.
Enchanting dainty cottages (I stayed in #14 and #16) both were well appointed with everything you could ask for. Both cottages were CLEAN and neat. Every morning I'd get up and sit on the back porch drink my coffee and listen to the birds and the sound of the river that runs right behind it. There was a full kitchen so I cooked most nights. Everything was in working order. There was extra bedding, a fully equipped kitchen and bath with soaps and lotions. Internet was available along with assorted movies and board games. I felt right at home, there was plenty of firewood including fire starter logs along with lighters, fresh coffee, popcorn, hot chocolate and even candy! There's a washer and dryer also, so don't worry about packing all those clothes. Kathy, the owner, was gracious and informative. She answered all my questions in a timely manner and directed me to so many wonderful places, here are a few not to miss: Sunday Brunch at Kate's Kitchen in Newland. The food was delicious, the service outstanding and the price was right! Nicks in Tynecastle Shopping Center is a good place to stop in for a cocktail or have a burger. Everyone there was friendly, the food was yummy and the price was good. If you like Italian and something a little more special take a ride to Sorrentos in Banner Elk, you won't be disappointed. I had the veal picatta, it melted in my mouth. Things close by, skiing on Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain. The Blue Ridge National Park is close by along with Linville Falls, Blowing Rock and Boone. There's plenty to do. For me it was a great get away! I'm already planning to come back this summer! Thank you Kathy. See you soon!
This was absolutely the perfect place for our weekend visit to the mountains of North Carolina! Less than 20 minute drive to Sugar Mountain, it was the right location for access to the slopes, while providing an ambiance of serenity. For us, the highlights of the cottage included the fireplace with a well stocked pile of wood, full clean kitchen, washer and dryer, and the back porch for a quiet morning breakfast. The home was well maintained and Kathy was very prompt in any questions we had prior to arrival and during the stay. My girlfriend was sold on it before we even arrived, and I was some what skeptical because of the size. But in all honesty, once I stepped foot inside, i just felt this overwhelming feeling of comfort and tranquility. The size was not even a factor and everything in the cottage gave me the peace of mind that we chose the right place. Normally when you go to places, the way things are laid out scream "temporary". There is no doubt we will return because everything about this cottage screamed "home" to us. We felt right at home the entire weekend as the cottage provided everything, and alleviated any doubts or worries I had about forgetting something. As avid outdoorsmen, we really enjoyed the mix of simplicity and character throughout the house. Originally we looked at some of the condos closer to the ski resorts, but looking back, the sacrifice for a few miles away was well worth it. All in all, this place was everything and then some, and we are excited to come back and stay here for the next trip. Thank you Kathy for your dedication to making this home incredibly delightful and warm.
We stayed in this cottage to experience Christmas in the mountains and it was wonderful. Me and my boyfriend were able to go tubing at sugar mountain while our son was in daycare with and excellent caretaker. We had all the kitchen supplies, bathroom supplies and cleaning supplies needed to feel at home. Not to mention tons of blankets. Which is always a plus, but we didn't need them because the fireplace kept us pretty warm. The sound of the river right behind the cottage was so relaxing and a great sight for a 1year old. If you need a getaway whether it's a weekend or a week this place will really give you the peace of mind you need.
Kathy's cottage was just perfect for our family of four, plus our 4-legged ,furry child. The cottage itself is comfortable, extremely clean and a great location. Kathy has thought of everything to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The décor of the cottage is straight from HGTV. She has thought of everything from paper towels, to dish soap to a charger for all our electronic needs. We watched chipmunks, beaver, and raccoon's from the back porch. The location allowed us to visit Boone, hike to Linville Falls and discover a new favorite hike " Table Top". My favorite spot was the back porch, where my husband and I enjoyed drinking coffee, reading and doing absolutely nothing (what a treat that was). Our only regret is not being able to stay longer.

Kathy provides the perfect cozy little cottage and it is a wonderful getaway. It's is always very clean, and well kept. It's adorable and a very peaceful place to stay. We have been several times and look forward to many more trips !
Thanks for sharing your Cottage with us. It gives us something to look forward to and we look forward to coming back.

My family of 4 stayed at the cottage for 2 nights for a hiking trip to Grandfathers mountain and Linville Gorge. The cottage is pretty small (as represented in the listing description) but is well laid out to maximize space. And the cottage was conveniently located between my 2 points of interest!
The cottage was impeccably clean , well laid out, tastefully decorated, and the back porch was within 15 feet of the Linville river. The rhythm of the river was very soothing at night after hiking all day.
The owner met us when we arrived just to say "Hi" and let us know to contact her if we had any questions. And then she left us alone to our privacy. We didn't need anything but it was great to know she was there.
I would rate a 4.5 if available. Parking space was limited.

Due to our location being in the Mountains, cell phone service and internet are slow compared to what it may be in the city. However they are available.
I have this Guest house and my Personal Cottage which I do rent out from time to time. If you may be needing a second home pls. feel free to inquire.
