Significant issues with the property

  • 2 of 5

We rented this property for a fishing weekend for 5 guys in late September/early October. The most significant issue is that there is NO CABLE or SATELLITE TV. TVs ARE CONNECTED ONLY TO DVD PLAYERS. No mention of this in the property description. We found out when the property manager sent an e-mail a few days before our arrival. Put a damper on our ability to watch NFL and NCAA games. "Rabbit ears" (i.e., antenna) were worthless. I would think that the lack of access to TV stations is material to one's decision to rent this property, and should be included in the property description.

Other than this very unpleasant surprise, the plusses and minuses were as follows:

- Private setting on a large, partially wooded lot.

- Nice fire pit by the lake.

- Fairly rustic building with older doors, windows, etc.

- Very uncomfortable furniture.

- Not great value for the price. Cleaning fee and other fees add up quickly.

Overall, we had a good time. The fire pit almost made up for the lack of cable/satellite. We are not likely to return, however.

peacefull setting

  • 3 of 5

The location of the cabin was secluded and peaceful in a wooded setting. The kitchen was very nice and was stocked with all the dishes and items we needed. However, the sleeping accommodations, were only for seven, and not for eight as stated. There was only one set of bunk-beds and a single bed in one of the bedrooms. When I contacted the agency, I was told they could bring us a blow-up mattress, which I did not find acceptable. Also, there was a note on the fire-place that said we couldn't use it. One of the photos of the couch and TV in the corner, isn't even in this cabin! The blanket that was in the master bedroom closet was full of stains, which we used to cover the window as there were no shades or curtains in the master. All in all, everyone enjoyed themselves...could use some updating

Additional services that may be added would be housekeeping/turn down service, transportation/limousine, private spa services at the home, and/or any additional services requested. The area hosts many activities; including the National Cherry Festival and other local festivals, Michael Moore's Film Festival, arts and craft shows, concerts in the park, casino's, wineries, Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes (a must), performances at the widely acclaimed Interlochen Center for the Arts and the downtown Opera House; you're certain to stay busy. Enjoy fishing charter boats, catamaran sunset cruises, para-sailing (for those who are brave), jet ski rentals, hot air balloon rides, our local markets, cherry picking (and other fruits depending upon the season), and hiking trails. Looking to golf? Perfect area for that! Fantastic golf courses surround Traverse City. Fishing? Look no further. Shopping? How about a large mall, outlet mall, and amazing local shops to find that special treasure. The dining is also fabulous, and we have amazing local chefs that prepare meals that you'll want to tell your friends and family about (as you're looking out at the reflection of the water, or dining by sunset). We look forward to taking care of you on your next vacation!
