My nephew got into a motorcycle accident July 2019 and is still unable to make the 5 hour trip home for Thanksgiving. So we all loaded up, rented Mirror Woods for 4 nights. It’s 30 minutes from my nephew and his wife and kids. They stayed at Mirror Woods with us. It was very very nice.
Of course the kids loved the upstairs bedroom with the window looking over the livingroom. We sat around the fire at night outside, drank coffee on the back deck.
Thanks for sharing your home with our wonderful family.
This property had a charm all its own. It had everything you needed and then some. It was clean and neat and simply charming. There was a pond right out the back deck and dragonflies galore. It was quiet and just the kind of place you’d like to sit back and relax, the weather was perfect as well. We took a trip into Asheville one day and on another explored the Blue Ridge Parkway, and experienced some of the most breathtaking views of the mountains you will ever see. The house and the area are lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Great for 2 couples + extended family
Our adult children piled upstairs in the oversized room with multiple beds and all slept comfortably. It also gave them their own hangout. The 2 parental couples had nice private bedrooms downstairs. Breakfast in the sunroom overlooking the pond was a treat. We also sat there or on the deck in the evening watching or hearing the wildlife - which included many birds, fish, deer, and beavers. The pleasant sounds of the S. Toe River is always rumbling in the background.
The furniture and decor is a little dated but perfectly functional, and added to the charm and nostalgia of a simpler & quieter life. The house smelled a little musty at first, but running the AC kept us cool enough and cleared up the air quickly. The weather didn't help since it rained every evening on top of the little heat wave we were in. The kitchen was very functional and had anything we needed to prep meals for the bunch of us.
We stayed in this area in order to do lots of hiking and take in some spectacular views. There is a hiking trail next door that connects to the Black Mtn trails here at the foot (literally) of Mount Mitchell. It is only about 5min from the Blue Ridge Parkway as well, so super convenient to those destinations.
I would return to this house if I was in the area again.
Nice house in great location
Had a great time. Nice secluded location and the kids had a blast. Highly recommend!!
Perfect family getaway. A great home to relax and get in touch with nature and the simpler times.
Thank you for giving us this opportunity to experience the mountains of North Carolina at its best. Mirror woods reminded us of what's important, special time with family and friends in a comfortable and cozy home. The property had every creature comfort and was fully stocked with basic supplies and needs. Since we stayed in winter over New Years, we were able to celebrate by playing games, watching movies, cooking appetizers and chilling by the fire place. What a wonderful surprise to wake up with a white wonderland of snow. The convenience/availability of a garage and snow sled made the stay complete. The house is easily accessible and there are several ways to get there whereas you don't necessarily have to take winding roads up the mountain. Check out Waze for highway directions.
Can't wait to stay again and look forward to sharing about our stay with friends. Gary the propert manager was very helpful and accommodating. Happy New Year

Very nice and roomy.
Once we learned how to operate the thermostats we did fine. Cozy and warm clean plenty of room. The instructions in the folder needs updating. Some of the recommended places are permanently closed. Also the thermostats would not go down to 55. The lowest we could go was 61. But these are minor things. Really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for rest and relaxation or various activities.
