Overview

Property Details

Updated: Sep 18, 2016
Fun, affordable family vacation. Fully equipped kitchen, gas grill!!!

Stone's Throw Cottage is located just 2 blocks from the beautiful Lake Michigan shore and public beach access. This adorable 2-bedroom, 1-bath bungalow sleeps 6-8 people. It is located within walking distance to the beach, parks, downtown and a biking/walking trail. There is a large backyard for cookouts and lawn games plus plenty of space to park your boat or jet skis! Perfect for families or a Girls' getaway weekend. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes and cookware. WiFi, cable, and washer and dryer are included as well. Yard games, hula hoops, jump ropes, beach toys and rafts on site for your use. A complimentary bottle of wine and snacks from local shops will be ready for you on arrival.

Approximately 1 mile from the cottage you'll find our downtown area with unique shops, and GREAT restaurants. If you have a sweet tooth, ice cream, frozen yogurt, and candy shops are not hard to find. Jet-ski, bicycle, and scooter rentals are available too. A local grocery store is also close by. If you enjoy fishing, charter one of several boats to go on the big lake, steelhead and perch are abundant. If fishing is not your thing but want to get on the water, consider taking a voyage on a historic 1810 replica sloop named Friends Good Will, or cruise down the river on the Lindy Lou, available through Michigan Maritime Museum. Summer events include Harborfest in June and the National Blueberry Festival in August. Just because summer is over, we still have more to offer. South Haven and the surrounding area will be bursting with fall colors , visit some of the local wineries and take in all the beauty. Kal-Haven trail is nearby for bicycling, snowmobiling, and cross country skiing. Also in the wintertime you can enjoy the outdoor ice rink located downtown under the city pavilion. Festivals aren't just happening in the summertime, the first weekend in February is our annual Ice Breaker event. Lining the streets of downtown are beautiful ice sculptures, there is a chili cook-off, euchre tournament, and a pub crawl. Anytime of the year enjoy a movie at Michigan Theater, movie, pop, and popcorn for under $8, or take the kids bowling at Lakeside Entertainment. So much to do and see, for further information about our city visit South Haven.org. We look forward to making your stay in South Haven as comfortable and fun as we can!

Lives up to it's name!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed over Labor Day weekend and appreciated being so close to everything. We could walk and watch the sunsets every night. The Van Buren Trail is one block away and that took us right to town where we enjoyed the Farmer's Market as well as the annual Arts and Crafts Fair. The cottage is beautifully decorated and clean! The backyard is very big with lots of yard games and places to sit and relax. Greg and Janine were very helpful with restaurant suggestions and other attractions. The treats were also a big hit!!! Thank you for a very enjoyable end to our summer!

Great for a beach getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our family really enjoyed our time at Stone's Throw Cottage. Greg and Janine were very responsive to our needs, and welcomed us with a bottle of wine, blueberry pancake mix, and some sweets. Yum! The home is very clean, beds comfortable, and the kitchen had all the cooking and grilling supplies we needed. The neighborhood is quite and it was nice to have a big, fenced-in back yard where our kids could throw the Frisbee and play bags. There were places to sit on the patio, but since we had six, it would have been nice to have a bigger table outside that seated six so we could all eat in the same place. The inside table had plenty of room though. The kids loved having the beach sand toys, boogie boards, and tubes. We walked to the beach every day and went again in the evenings to watch the sunset. Very relaxing. Wish we could have stayed longer!! Thanks Greg and Janine!

Great cottage

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place. We agree with all the other positive reviews of this lovely home. We really enjoyed having the spaciousness of a house while vacationing. It was convenient to all of our destinations, very clean, and the owners could not have been nicer. The backyard and patio was great too. We'd definitely stay again. Thank you Greg and Janine!

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Greg and Janine shared their darling home with us this past week. It was perfect in every way. Everything about our stay in South Haven was wonderful. They provided a clean, comfortable and relaxing home for us. We felt special from the moment we arrived. From my first contact with them until the day we left, they were always available and willing to make our stay enjoyable. I hope we have the opportunity to rent from them again in the future. Thanks for everything, Greg and Janine.

Great cottage, great stay!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our second stay in this cottage. The hospitality of the new owners is just excellent. Our family of 5 fits just perfectly in this cottage. The three girls stay in the bunk room and my husband and I found the master bedroom lovely. It is important to know that this house is small! But I really don't think you need much room on the lake! The house is a quick bike ride or walk to the blue stairs and South Beach. The house has every you need to live comfortably for a week. I really appreciated the washer and dryer in the basement. (Side note: if you like to keep up with your workouts, there is plenty of space to do one down there.) We ate at the house most nights and were able to cook any meal we wanted! The back yard is great. Plenty of chairs and lawn games. Overall, I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay! We did all the usuals - ate at Shermans and Clemtines, went for a sail, went for bike ride on the Kal Haven trail, played in the waves, watched the sunsets, and enjoyed good family time!
