Marcel is from Switzerland and moved to Florida 17 years ago after selling his construction company. His wife, Valerie is a retired US Air Force Colonel and a nurse anesthetist.
We had a very enjoyable stay in this three bedroom home on the intercoastal water in Treasure Island. It was a great location because of the nearby restaurants and less than a mile from the beach. The large dock provided plenty of room to try our luck at fishing, which our grandson loved when visiting for a few days. The owner of the property, Marcel, was so friendly and accommodating, and even took us out in his boat that he keeps there. The patio was so roomy and provided plenty of room for friends and family to gather. With the beautiful Florida weather, it was a wonderful place to relax.

My wife have stayed in dozen of VRBO/AirBNB/HomeAway rentals and this is easily in the top 3 places we've stayed. We searched for weeks to find the perfect property to spend Christmas and New Years near my family (located ~45 minutes south in Bradenton). When we finally found Marcel's place we thought it was too good to be true, but it wasn't.
Since I know how internet comments/reviews usually work, I'll get the negative out of the way first. The only complaint I have about Marcel's place is that the water in the master bathroom shower is reversed, but to be fair 50% of the vacation rentals we've stayed in suffer from the same problem. That is it, everything else was amazing.
The positives range from small things like the LED address number on the front of the garage so you can easily find the house if you arrive after dark (like we did) to the amazing fishing you can do right off the dock. Marcel is a great host, we talked over email and text message a few times before our arrival and he stopped by on our second day there, he was always professional and courteous as well as funny and informative.
We spent our first week just lounging around the house and enjoying the pool and the fishing (stop by Johnny's Bait and Tackle on 107th and they will set you up with everything you need). We caught flounder, drums, jacks, grunts, and many others...enough that we ate fresh fish most nights for dinner. Speaking of cooking, the kitchen was nicely equipped with enough pots, pans, utensils, and accessories to make everything from grilled fish to fresh guacamole (there are so many farmer's markets I can't list them all).
The second week was spent adventuring to Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Dunedin, and Tampa. If you're a beer aficionado I highly recommend Dunedin Brewery, they're Florida's oldest craft brewer and well worth the 45 minute drive north. There are so many delicious restaurants and pubs in St. Petersburg that are just a short 15 minute drive from the house (just head east on 107th).
We're hoping to return for next Christmas and many more after.
