Romantic Cabin In The Woods, 2 Paved Miles To Mena, Ar, Jacuzzi Bath, Fireplace

Bedrooms 2
Space 400 sq ft
Property type cabin

About the property

Relaxing Cabin In A Clearing In The Woods, Near The National Forest, Furnished.

Ouachita Mountain cabin With 1 queen bed, 2 singles, Jacuzzi Bath, Open Concept Floorplan With Fireplace—near Mena, AR.

This wonderful cabin is your private retreat in the woods, yet just 2 miles on pavement to Mena, AR. It features a fully equipped kitchen, Jacuzzi bath, separate shower, fireplace, sun-porch and deck.

The cabin sits on several wooded acres, near the border of the Forest Service, and only about 150 ft. from the County Road 402, which is a picturesque way to ride to Wolfpen Gap, one of the largest trail parks in the state.

We are just 5 minutes from the charming county seat town of Mena, with its nice art district, good antique shops, and old-timey downtown with the original buildings from the time the railroads were built and the town was born. Yet we do have a 24/7 Walmart, a live theater, movie theater, and lots of festivals.

The open concept living room's focal point is a cozy fireplace (it’s gas, an easy way to take the chill off on cool evenings as well as contribute to the cozy ambiance). There is a queen-size canopy bed downstairs as well as two singles upstairs. With the leather sofa (not sofa-bed) in the living area and another sofa on the sun-porch, there is room for up to six people to stay—and 2 children under 12 stay free. We have a Pack-n-play if a baby is a guest too!

There is a flat screen TV (no cable) with DVD and vintage VCR with a large selection of movies! Of course, there is Internet access too, and a desk to do work if you need to.

The charming “Little House on the Prairie” country kitchen has a view of the living area. And, the kitchen is equipped with full-size refrigerator, cooktop, microwave, convection oven, coffeemaker, toaster, dishes, pots and pans. We also stock basic staples such as coffee, sugar, tea, salt and pepper, and also condiments like ketchup and mustard. The local water here is so good you will not want bottled water, and has been tested periodically for safety.

The quiet, paved county road 42 is good for hiking, biking, or just a leisurely stroll after supper to enjoy nature.

If you like wildlife watching, just sit outside on your deck (or simply look out any window from your sun-porch) in the morning or maybe at sunset and don't be surprised if you see squirrels and birds watching you. We will keep a supply of feed available to give them a treat. The wooden rocker on the deck is close to the hummingbird feeder, and if you catch it just right, a beam of sunlight filters down between the forest trees and strikes the feeder and illuminates the hummers.

As owners, we take pride in keeping the cabin up to your expectations. We have long-term trusted housekeepers who love cleaning the cabin just for you. We have been the owners for 20 years, and our goal is to do all we can to ensure your visit here is pleasant.

Activities; Just half hour to crystal clear Cossatot River swimming, fishing, tubing. Just minutes to Walmart and theater and shops, including art galleries and antiques. You can ride your ATV from the cabin through the Ouachita National Forest about 7 miles to the WolfPen Gap trails; or trailer ATV and take highway to the Wolfpen Gap trails.

Guestbook is filled with nice comments from guests who were pleasantly surprised and delighted.

Mild winters let you do outdoor activities all year long. Spring and fall are perfect--blue skies, flowers, not to hot or cold. Summers are hot but we have air conditioning, and it is fantastic for water activities. Winters can be cold, but rarely get snow or freezing.

This is a beautiful little cabin in the woods. It felt more like we were staying in a home than a rental because of all the extras that are available for you in this little cabin. We would definitely stay here again.

Woodhaven Cabin

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay! The cabin is peaceful and relaxing; we felt like we were at grandma's house. Everything is very well kept and comforting. The yard space is not very large due to the woods and beautiful scenery but it is a beautiful and wooded yard. The hostess was very kind and has notes all over the cabin to assist with anything in the cabin; also, if you have any questions, she is just across the street or a text away. Our trip to Mena was relaxing!

Wonderful place. Wonderful host.

This place is absolutely wonderful. It's very cozy which makes it feel like home. There works of art by the owner scattered about the cabin that are very lovely. You can actually buy them, if you wish. The owner lives just next door, which saved us twice! The first time, I mistakenly went to the wrong cabin (she has 2, I think), it was around 10:30pm and raining quite heavily. She walked over to greet us and showed us the way to the correct cabin (yes, in the rain!). Then, the gas fireplace went out and we couldn't get it turned back on. So, we called her up the next morning and she zipped right on over to help us. This is an annual birthday trip we take for my boyfriends birthday. We hike the trails at Queen Wilhelmina state park and this is a short drive away. We definitely plan to come back next year.

This cabin has had a lot of thought and care go in to making it comfortable for the guests. The queen bed slept very well. The furniture was big and comfortable. The kitchen was stocked well and everything in the cabin came with great instructions. AND the jetted tub was an enjoyed luxury! Thank you for putting together such a wonderful VRBO for your guests. You have a lovely place in a beautiful location!
