House, 2 Bedrooms + Office, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 4)
'Serendipity' is a 5min drive from the best beach and the Four Seasons resort with its tennis courts and beautiful 18-hole golf course. There are many restaurants and beach bars nearby, elegant old plantation houses to visit and the quaint little 18th Century capital, Charlestown.
Take a tour up mighty 3232ft Mount Nevis, which towers behind 'Serendipity', or relax by the pool or on the beach, and relish the slow, dreamy pace of life in Nevis - a miniature paradise just 6 miles long by 6 miles wide, with a balmy climate, cool breezes, calm seas, lovely beaches, colourful forests, shady walks, horse riding, and the nicest, friendliest people you could ever hope to meet, people who wave and smile as you drive by.
Each golden day is like a time-warp back to the 1950s, where people are polite and there are no flashy nightclubs, casinos or rowdy tourists, just a quiet little haven.
When you arrive you'll be met by our agent, who will take you up to the house, give you our 21-page guide to the house, island, beaches, restaurants, shops and sports, and help with any problems during your stay.
'Serendipity' nestles quietly amid palm and mango trees 400ft up the jungly side of Mount Nevis, yet it's only a 10-minute drive to the quaint little 18th Century capital, Charlestown. The house sleeps 4 and has 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, shower room, spacious living room, fully equipped modern kitchen, study, laundry, and a wide, protected veranda beside a 30ft x 15ft pool with a glorious view across the pretty garden and 2 miles of sparkly Caribbean Sea towards the sunset and Nevis's sister island, St Kitts.
There is air conditioning in both bedrooms, cable TV in the living room and main bedroom, a DVD player, DVD disks, dozens of books, broadband internet, WiFi, big ice-making fridge/freezer, large gas cooker, microwave oven, dishwasher, coffee machine, juicer and toaster.
As for Nevis itself, it still deserves its old nickname, 'The Queen of the Caribbees'
The house stands in an acre of land well away from the few other houses at Fern Hill Estates, a small hamlet of 30 stylish modern houses, most on 1-acre plots and all with swimming pools and colourful tropical gardens,.A 5-minute drive away is Pinney's Beach, a long, wide stretch of white sand that is often completely deserted even in the high season except for the plummeting pelicans and a fishing boat or two
Pinney's is home to seven simple little open-air bistros (including the famous Sunshine's Bar) as well as a smart French restaurant, the Coconut Grove, and a luxurious Four Seasons resort with three restaurants, a huge white beach, calm, protected ocean swimming, two pools, tennis courts, shops, a spa, and an immaculate 18-hole Robert Trent Jones golf course.
Nevis's capital, Charlestown, is a charming little village with buildings dating from the 17th and 18th Centuries, among them the old Bath Hotel, now the main government offices, which was the height of luxury in the 18th Century and a mecca for European tourists, among them the English poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge, who sailed the Atlantic to bathe in the hot springs which are still open to the public at Bath village.
Charlestown has two museums: one commemorating Admiral Horatio Nelson, who married a pretty young local widow, Fanny Nisbet, here in 1787; the other the 1757 birthplace of Alexander Hamilton, who was to emigrate to the United States when he was 15 and became one of the USA's founding fathers and its first Secretary of the Treasury.
Among the many delights of Nevis are the Great Houses of the old sugar plantations, some of them in ruins, others now elegant, picturesque hotels: the Montpelier, the Hermitage and the Nisbet. There is a beautiful botanical garden and the island is perfect for lovers of walking, hiking, horse riding, sailing, fishing, scuba diving and water skiing.
And Nevis is suffused with music: the bouncy reggae and calypso rhythms that waft from balconies all over Charlestown; the echoing steel pan bands; the traditional string bands that play simple, haunting melodies on their homemade instruments; the Tuesday night guitar-and-drums jam session at the Oualie Beach Hotel, where everyone is encouraged to join in, if only to shake the maraccas or tambourine; the karaoke evenings at several beach bars; the fabulous local rock and reggae bands.
At times, in fact, it seems that Nevis must have been the original musical, magical island that inspired Shakespeare to write The Tempest: 'If music be the food of love, play on.'
Three or four small airlines fly in to Nevis direct from Puerto Rico, Antigua and St Maarten, but American, Delta, US Airways, British Airways, and several charter airlines have direct flights from the US and UK to St Kitts, after which you take a half-hour car ferry, passenger ferry or water taxi ride across the sea to Nevis.
And as you approach the island by sea in the early evening, unforgettably beautiful in the dusk, it will haunt you for ever.

Why The Owner chose St Kitts & Nevis
We first travelled to almost every Caribbean island and decided that Nevis is the loveliest of them all: small, very friendly, very pretty, peaceful, and perfect for writing and painting.
What makes this house unique
Peace, quiet, solitude, warmth, sunshine, a chance to breathe fresh air and gaze at the stars. We spend five months every winter here before we return each summer to our other home in the hills high behind Cannes and St Tropez in the South of France.

Beautiful views and a lovely place to stay
My husband, myself, our seven-month-old and my mom stayed here for 10 days over Thanksgiving break. We thought the house was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. From the beginning the owner made helpful suggestions for our transportation to make traveling with the baby easier. The rental manager was also very helpful and friendly, meeting us at the boat when we arrived with our rental car ready to go. She showed us the way to the house, the grocery stores and checked in on us a couple times during our stay. She also arranged our transportation back to the airport for us. The house itself is very pretty and tastefully done with several of the owners original artwork pieces and an excellent literature collection! The house was relatively clean however it could use a thorough deep cleaning. I did notice that the bottom edges of the pretty rattan furniture and underneath the furniture were relatively dusty. I probably only noticed this because we did have a seven-month-old baby crawling around everywhere on the floor. The kitchen was well equipped and my mom and I were able to cook an entire Thanksgiving dinner right down to the turkey. We had a beautiful Thanksgiving eating out on the veranda enjoying the view of the sunset. I saw another reviewer mentioned the rusty refrigerator door and anyone who has spent any time in the Caribbean knows that the salty sea air is very hard on appliances especially stainless steel. And just for the record inside the bathroom cabinets are partially used bars of soap and toiletries other visitors have left behind, nothing really "vomit inducing". Overall we had a wonderful and very memorable stay and we would definitely recommend this house to other families! We hope to visit again soon.

Serendipity and Nevis exceeded all expectations. We spent 2 weeks in this lovely home and couldn't have been happier. The garden, the views, the well equipped house, the fast WIFI, the insider tips from the owners, the friendly locals, the brilliant location, value for money..the list goes on. I hope we are lucky enough to return again one day soon.
My husband and I stayed at Serendipity for 2 weeks and loved it,the pool and gardens are lovely.
Well maintained by the property management company with friendly staff.
We would love to return in the future.
Looks nice from the pictures BUT those are old pictures. READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE RENTING THIS HOUSE
DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT RENTING THIS HOUSE BECAUSE IT IS VERY DIRTY AND NEEDS MUCH MAINTENANCE AND UPDATING. We stayed at this home for 10 days starting January 16, 2016. Before renting the house we noticed that the last reviews were from October 2014 and prior to that date. Although most reviews were positive we thought it was unusual that there were no recent reviews. We now believe that people did not leave negative reviews because they did not want to upset the apple-cart so to speak. If someone prior to us would have left an honest review of the house we would have not rented this house.
Here are some issues that we had: refrigerator very dirty on the interior and exterior is very rusty, dishes and silverware were dirty, cushions on living room furniture were extremely soiled and faded, we put beach towels on the cushions where we wanted to sit. The pool's bottom paint is failing and pool has algae on bottom. Pots and pans in kitchen are dirty, old and scratched and need to be replaced. Many windows will not open and all window shades are very dirty. If you looked into the cabinet under the kitchen sink and master BR vanity you would want to vomit. Also, don't take the pillow cases off of the master bedroom pillows unless you want to get sick. There is so much dirt and grease under the oven that one would have to scrape it off the tile before one could wash the floor.
We called the rental agent a few days after our arrival and asked her to come to the house and discuss the issues that we had verbally raised to her. She never came nor did she call back. A real professional. We took many pictures of the house and the problem areas and would love to share them with the public but VRBO guidelines do not even allow us to mention the name of the rental agent nor can we leave our email address. I sent a 2 page email to the owner after our return and expressed our displeasure in polite detail. Her response was "I can only say how sorry I am that you hated your holiday so much." and " we still are getting 5 star reviews".
Lastly, this is a honest review made in the sincere hope that your vacation to Nevis island does not end up like ours. We have used VRBO.com many times in the past but we have never had such an unpleasant experience as this. LOOK FOR ANOTHER PLACE.
My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at Serendipity. A wonderful choice for a getaway - lovely, well-appointed home and location. The views of the sunrise and sunset with St. Kitts framing the Caribbean cannot be topped! Nevis is a special place and Serendipity tops it off.
Look no farther, this is the place!!!
Wonderful house and grounds. Views are worth a million! Kitchen is stocked with everything one would need. Graham truly takes the time to answer even the most silliest of questions with grace and a bit of humor as well. If we come back to the island we would happily stay here again!
