Linthill House is set amid the extensive parkland of a country estate, just 5 miles from Melrose in the Scottish Borders. This much-loved family home dates back to the 18th century and has been substantially refurbished whilst retaining many original features.
The entrance hall sets the scene for the grandeur of the rest of the house and even has a sprung floor that is ideal for Ceilidhs or weddings. There is a charming drawing room with an open fire, a formal dining room and a magnificent billiard room with full size snooker table. You even have the choice of whether to stay in the north, east, south or west wings!
Guests have access to the grounds surrounding the house that extend to over 100 acres. The Ale Water runs through the grounds for nearly a kilometer and you can fish in it for trout. Linthill House is a truly beautiful setting for a family gathering or a holiday with a group of friends and is also available for small weddings or ceremonies with up to 25 guests.
From the end of the house’s drive it is just a 10 minute stroll into the nearby village of Lilliesleaf where there are two pubs and a restaurant.
Linthill is just over an hour's drive from Edinburgh, or you can take the train from Tweedbank. It is also little more than an hour from the coast, the sandy beaches at Coldingham and the dramatic cliffs at St Abbs, with their seabird colonies. The many stately homes, ruined abbeys, and castles of the region, too, are well worth a visit.
