About Alessandra Baldi

I was born in Venice, and I have spent most of my life in Venice. Over time I have noticed how the city has changed—how it has adapted itself to the new demands of modernity, in its own particular fashion.

Since 2011 I leave the city often, and every time I return to Venice I feel as if I’ve lost my bearings. I seem to find myself in a halfway state, between someone who’s spent his childhood in a place and delighted in its spirit, and someone who feels from time to time like a mere observer in that place.

I believe both outsiders and Venetians can share the same emotions before the unique beauty of the city. Feeling the same sensations, I cannot help but adhere to a common vision—true, passionate, gratifying, and grateful for a culture that has marked Western history. At heart, any foreigner who really loves Venice is also a Venetian.

I love nature and culture, both global and local. I believe in sharing, learning, exchanging and respecting.

I’m very energetic and active. I love photography, and I’m especially passionate about traveling.

Why Alessandra Baldi chose San Polo

Because Venice is the best city in the world!

If you are looking for arts, relaxation, comfort and excellent food, it is an excellent choice for short and long visits.

What makes this apartment unique

Venice is one of the most interesting and romantic cities in the entire world, known as “La Serenissima" or the Most Serene, it has been captivating its visitors for hundreds of years. Ancient buildings never looked as romantic as in Venice, where centuries-old “palazzi" are reflected in this city's plentiful canals.

Venice, the world's only pedestrian city, is best enjoyed by walking. The absence of car traffic makes this the perfect way to experience what Venice has to offer. As a city that cherishes its food, the famous Rialto Market is a delicious way to experience the Venice dining scene. Particularly known as a fish market, the Rialto Market also offers plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit for sale, too. Visitors may stroll through the market, window-shopping or simply point to what they want to purchase—friendly vendors will bag it up. The Rialto Bridge, near the Rialto Market, contains a row of restaurants with tables by the canal, offering a true Venice dining experience by the city's canal lights.

First-time visitors may at first be surprised that the main way of getting around Venice is on foot. It is not a large city, and it is quite possible to walk from one end to the other in an hour. In fact, one of the many joys of visiting Venice is simply walking through its traffic-free streets and alleyways, catching sight of the canals as you cross the characteristic Venetian bridges.

The only other way of getting around is by boat, and for everyday travel you will generally use the vaporetto and motoscafo water buses. Water taxis are more expensive - in fact, probably the most expensive taxis in the world - but are very fast and are able to take you along back routes that offer an alternative view of the city. Gondolas are hardly a practical way of getting from A to B, but will take you on the most romantic of journeys along almost any canal in Venice.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Just a quick note, now that we are back home, to let you know how much we enjoyed the apartment. It was a most memorable experience. Everything was very well organized and Ale was very helpful and kind. The location was perfect; the apartment was comfortable, and well appointed; and your welcome was outstanding. Thank you for helping make our visit so memorable and enjoyable.

Notes:
The fee you agree to when you make your reservation includes things we cannot describe with simple words. For example, the website description cannot successfully explain that the apartment is absolutely spotless and hypoallergenic. From the few pictures online, you cannot see how finely appointed the apartment is, the quality of linens you sleep in, the beauty of fine Rubelli upholstery, the variety of Venetian cookies (from Burano island) that you find in your kitchen as a welcome, in addition to the cold or hot drinks waiting for you. We value good relationships and clear communications with our guests from all over the world, and we take seriously the high quality of the service we offer. We aim to deliver beauty, grace, culture, and excellent hospitality. Please, do not hesitate to kindly ask her for help!

A wonderful spot in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Alessandra helped me realize a dream of spending time living in Venice. She is a kind, considerate host who did so much to help me ease into Venetian life. Her love of her native city is very apparent and she helped me experience things I never would have found on my own. The apartment is lovely and the location in San Polo a perfect home-base for exploring Venice and the Lagoon. I cant wait until I return again!

Clean spacious flat in the heart of Venice

  • 4 of 5

Lovely, clean, well-equipped flat on a pretty square in Venice. Alessandra and her husband could not have been more helpful and welcoming. They gave us some great tips and were there to take our calls and greet us at the water bus. She even left traditional biscuits for us. The flat has a/c if needed. The only (tiny) downsides for us were that the master bed is very hard (but some like it that way) and the person opening the bar downstairs at 7:30am on Saturday morning likes to play his music very loud. But silence on Sunday morning was golden.
