My wife and I live on five acres in the Adirondacks of NY state. We enjoy the beauty and wild life year round. It was quite natural for us to rent and enjoy this island home in the warmth of beautiful Homosassa Fla. The weather was fantastic and the people non existent!!!! We fished, swam with the manatee and enjoyed fresh sea food daily. We were able to catch or collect most of these meals ourselves! It is a quiet and comfortable home away from home!! I do love taking a salt water shower so much that I am looking into a machine that will automatically add salt to our home water! Bring the whole family. You will need a boat.
The H20 Getaway exceeded our expectations! We normally stay at another hotel on the river in Homosassa and decided to try something new this year. We had 6 adults and there was plenty of room. The kitchen was great for fitting everyone for breakfast and dinner. There were a lot of nice, unexpected conveniences we found upon arrival like fun straws, extra toiletries, cleaning supplies, water bottles, etc. The AC was cold, the water was hot and we didn't even have to use any of the bug spray we brought (hardly any mosquitos and we were a little worried about that). We had a few questions leading up to arrival and always received prompt responses. The owners describe it very well and we were pleasantly surprised to find it was even nicer than we hoped for when we arrived, which is why we are giving it 5 stars. As stated by the owners... It's not a "5 star" place compared to a Ritz Carlton but it is a 5 Star place given the description. If you want a special, fun and memorable experience, I would definitely recommend trying it out. We will be back!
There were fresh baked cookies welcoming us when we arrived and the house had everything we needed like air conditioning, pots/pans/plates/silverware, cable TV, DVD player, linens and more. The house is located about half way between town and the Gulf of Mexico and the dock worked well but really only room for 1 boat. The house is an older house but was clean and fine for a long weekend of scalloping and beds were comfortable. There are 2 other houses to the South side but they were not occupied at the time so we had a very private setting away from town with nice sunsets. We caught lots of scallops and had a great time. The only draw back was the water is well water and has a bit of an odor (normal for this area), not a big deal for us but could be for someone very sensitive to the sulfur smell. Other than that this a nice little house in a great location.
The place was relaxing and secluded but close to everything like restaurants and scalloping. We greatly enjoyed our stay. The house was decorated in a beach style them and the view from the house was awesome. Will stay again. Thanks
