About Pete Vega

Our new family lives just outside of Orlando which is approximately 1.5 hours from Crystal River. We are all Florida natives; Pete grew up in Inverness which is the town next to our vacation condos and why we chose Crystal River. We like the laid back sleepy little town feel and fell in love with the areas springs, specifically Three Sisters. What started as a weekend get a way has turned into a wonderful place we are happy to share.

Pete Vega purchased this house in 2015

Why Pete Vega chose Crystal River

Crystal River is a quiet little town with plenty to offer. The springs are beautiful and less than a 20 minute boat ride from our dock. On any given morning you can see manatees and dolphin swim by our dock, boat or paddle to waterfront restaurants and enjoy the nature preserve in Kings Bay. A 3 mile scenic boat ride takes you to the Gulf of Mexico where there is fantastic fishing, nature viewing and in the summer, scallop harvesting. You will enjoy near by Homosassa Wildlife Park and Indian burial grounds which leave a lot to explore. Golf courses, bike/hiking trails close will allow for an active vacation if desired.

What makes this house unique

We love our Bald Eagle home for several reasons including the quiet neighborhood surrounded by nature. We enjoy the 360 degree wrap-a-round Deck with beautiful views of old Florida and the Salt River as well as the tidal canal and our floating dock and sea wall in the back yard. You will love to open floor plan and the newly remodeled kitchen. It is great for families with the main house on the 2nd level and the third bedroom on the lower level with a private entrance (great for teens or guests). Covered parking and boat/trailer parking included.

Owner's Response: thank you for your five star review, we agree it is a very beautiful and quiet area in Crystal River where you are surrounded by nature but also close enough to the area shops and restaurants. So many places to explore by foot, or kayak/boat....Kerry let us know when you plan to visit again...Pete

Not a three bedroom

  • 4 of 5

The house on Bald Eagle Circle is lovely. The location is perfect for manatee watching in either Crystal River or Homosassa Springs, Gulf access at the nearby park, and early morning coffee on the wrap around deck overlooking the canal. Kayaking on Christmas, in the provided kayaks, was a wonderful treat. The kayaks are a great asset giving access to the beauty of the myriad of canals in the area. This house is a perfect 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom house. The third "bedroom" is a room at the rear of the garage on the lower or carport level. There is no access to a bathroom, other than walking across the carport, going up the outside stairs, and then into the second floor of the house. Could be a fascinating experience at night. This third "bedroom" was unusable because of the nasty, musty smell which was not improved by the use of the wall air-conditioner. One even wonders if it can be legally called a bedroom. There is a small upper window which would make egress in an emergency a challenge. The sofa bed and leather couch, on the main level, can be used for sleeping space. So, it is a two bedroom house, with additional sleeping space. Hopefully, the ice maker is fixed by now. Because we were there only three days over Christmas, the maintenance man provided a solution, via phone, to the leaking ice maker and checked to be sure the situation had improved. Also, the instructions for departure on the refrigerator do not match the e-mailed instructions we received when we booked. That is easy to remedy. This beautifully located house, with proper maintenance, has great potential.

Owner's Response: It sounds like this guest enjoyed the home and the sourrounding areas....unfortunatly this guest spent a lot of negitive energy during their stay debating our third bedroom to request a refund. our third bedroom is on the lower level, it has a window a small closet and bunkbeds and a third full bed. it functions as any other bedroom used for sleeping, and a "teen place to hang out" except you have to use the outside stairs to enter the main house. at the time of this guests arrival, the room had not been used by our previous guests and had been locked up and the A/C had not been run for a while which is why the air may have been "stale". This home offers three queens and a queen pull out on the main level and the third bedroom on the lower level offers bunkbeds and a full bed on the lower level. Pete

Very clean and convient

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed in this house Dec 26-30,2016 (there were 8 of us) The upstairs was perfect. Kitchen was well equipped! (Even the items you never remember) The downstairs was a bit odd......It was big and spacious with a queen bed and a set of bunk beds, but no bathroom. Our plan was for the kids to sleep down there, but out of a 17,16,14, and 12 year old only 3 of them made it down there all week as the 14yr old was weirded out having to go outside and up the steps and into the house, which we had to leave unlocked, go to the bathroom and do it again, so he opted to sleep on the pull out couch all week, If we ever came back to the area we would probably use this same house. We had a slight issue the 1st day and I emailed the honor and had a response in less than 20 minutes. 5 stars!

Owner's Response: thanks for the five star review and feedback, yes our third bedroom is on the lower level accessible by using the outside stairs, both bathrooms are upstairs in the main house. This offers our guests more sleeping space/beds if needed. The main level of the home offers a queen in the master and two queens in the second bedroom and a queen pull out in the living room. The lower bedroom is best for teens or younger kids with an adult (it is where our kids like to sleep when we visit Crystal River)....Cindy, let us know when you plan to visit again! Pete

Beautiful home in private, residential area!

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful home with all the amenities including the use of three kayaks. In minutes, you are able to paddle into some of the most beautiful sawgrass meadows famous in this area of Old Florida. The house was spotless when we arrived and easily accomodated our large family.

We would recommend this home to our friends. If you are bringing a boat, you need to speak to the guys at Twin Rivers Marina (just a mile or so away) about navigating the waterway back to the house. The neighbors were very friendly and it is a quiet, family type atmosphere. Thank you for sharing your home with us!!!!

Peaceful setting

  • 4 of 5

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Woods N Waters. We were in the area for a week and wanted a house vs a hotel or motel. We chose this location because of the opportunity to kayak in the marshes in the early morning. Lots of wildlife. Our first morning we saw three otters romping around. So if you're into nature, this location is ideal. The kayaks were fishing quality and very comfortable.

I rented a bike from town and rode to the beach a number of times. All of the roads have bike lanes or very wide berms. The bike rentals in town are $30/day and we were able to fit the bike in the back of the rental car with the quick release hub.

The little beach/pier/walking trail area was wonderful. It wasn't busy and was just really interesting and relaxing.

The beds were comfortable and the entire house was very organized and clean. The living room furniture wasn't the most comfortable, but adequate. It was nice having the washer and dryer. There weren't any "extras" that I typically find in VRBO rentals--no condiments, extra garbage bags, hair dryer but this may change because I gave feedback to the owner who was very receptive to feedback.

Owner's Response: This guest highlighted why this home/location is so ideal, we do have a lot of nature and beautiful scenery close and offer quality kayaks and a lot to do in the area. We appreciate the feedback, and want to continue to improve. Yes we have added salt an pepper shakers and replaced the missing hair dryer and will continue to leave 5 extra trash bags at this guests request.
