About John Copley and Phil Noon
My name is John and I grew up in Grantham Lincs. I am married to Lynn and we have 5 Children. I am a self employed builder, and my passion is cricket. My friend Phil is married to Jeanette and has 3 children. He is a sales manager for a farm machinery company and a drummer in a local band.
John Copley and Phil Noon purchased this Villa in 2006
Why John Copley and Phil Noon chose Municipality of Tábua
Myself and Phil and our respective families, wanted somewhere unspoilt, peaceful, and that was not spoilt by modern lifestyles, but it also had to be close enough to reach, so our families could enjoy it. We stumbled upon Sardinheiro almost by accident, and we both agreed that it was the perfect spot.
What makes this Villa unique
The only way to experience the unique benefits is ......... To stand on the wooden decking at sunset and see the mountains on the horizon. To open the shutters in the morning to bright sunshine. To have a lazy breakfast on the front patio while listening to the chatter of the local farmers. To have an afternoon stroll to the lake and wonder at the tranquility of the setting. To spend an afternoon by the pool immersed in a good book. To enjoy the peaceful walks through the vineyards and terraces. To treat your guests to one of Rui's suckling pigs. (Rui is the next door farmer)

Villa was fab
We have just arrived back from a 10 day stay in this villa. It is our first time with booking a villa this way, we would normally go through the James Villa site. We had to email the owners for a key code, I thought this would of been provided before we had to ask, on arrival we had problems with the alarm system and had to email the owners, but having no signal this was a problem, luckily the farmer from the next property came to help.
On entering the property we would of liked to have had an information file in easy view but we had to hunt through cuboards for it. We go to Portugal a lot and love the country, the villa had spectacular views despite most of the woodlands being burnt in last year's fires. This would have been good information to have as the decking outside has been replaced, to a high standard, and there is no hammock.
The pool was not very clean and the villa not thouroghly clean, we asked before we went if there was fishing gear at the villa as one of our party was a keen fisherman, but was unable to find it. We could not find our way to the lake walking but did eventually go to it driving.
Despite any of this we had a fantastic time in a wonderful part of the country and would recommend this villa to others.
Tranquil rustic heaven
Pool lovely, weather perfect. Locals friendly, villa homely
Clean and well appointed villa with fantastic pool in a beutiful part of Portugal
Very few issues with the villa and contents and generally just minor wear and tear. Overall the place is clean and well maintained. An internet connection would have been a useful addition as well as owners' instructions for the satellite TV (since we only managed to play DVDs using the manufacturers' separate leaflets!) The short dirt-track driveway up to the villa can be tricky (our people carrier struggled with grip).
Pool was the best we have had in any rented villa - a reasonable size, no chlorine and excellent all-round seating area offering sun and shade. The pool cleaning robot was a sight in itself and worth the effort of setting up. Recommend putting the pool cover on overnight to keep up water temperature.
The 2-3-seater kayak was easy to blow up and transport - we had a couple of fun days down by the river and decided not to bother with an organised canoe trip. Managed pine/eucalyptus/oak forest around the house offers excellent walking/running and blackberry picking.
Local bar was walking distance and amenities in Tabua an easy 10min drive. Beautiful surroundings with plenty of towns and villages to visit within 40mins. Eating out was very cheap though menus perhaps lack the range and variety of French cooking. Pastries however are excellent everywhere and the wine and coffee always good.
Thanks for your comments
A beautiful holiday home
Very impressed! The villa was comfortable, clean and ideal for a family getaway without any other tourists! The house is surrounded by stunning views and is only a short walk from the lake which is ideal for canoeing or swimming. We spent hours lazing by the crystal clear pool and ventured into the local town to the supermarket and the town BBQ on a Sunday morning which I would strongly recommend.
All in all a very relaxing stay and we were lucky enough to have blue skies and sun all week - a perfect getaway.
A lovely relaxing holiday.
We really enjoyed our stay in Sardenheiro, it was wonderfully relaxing yet fun at the same time. We had great weather so made the most of out the excellent pool and inflatables. The house itself was very well equipped with good facilities.
The surrounding areas are breath taking with amazing views of the mountains, and the house only being a 5 minute walk to the lake, which we swam in!
The village is so interesting, and we were lucky enough to meet the local farmer who lives nearby, and was kind enough to show us around and give us some of his produce.
All in all one of the best holidays we have ever had. WIll definitely want to return!
A beautiful peaceful villa in fab location
We stayed in Sardineiro for a week in May and had a wonderful family holiday. We were a group of 8; 4 adults,1 teenager, 1 child and 2 toddlers/babies and the villa was clean, comfortable and well equipped for all of us. The older children loved the fantastic pool and the babies loved the outdoor shower!! We enjoyed great days out to local towns (not a British tourist in sight, yippee!) and trips on the kayak on the river - clean for swimming too! Our evenings were spent in the peace and quiet with plenty of local wine on the balcony!! We had a barbeque most days and the local Lidl supermarket was a god-send for our family! The villa is surrounded by picturesque countryside, friendly locals and sounds of tranquillity. We cannot recommend this villa enough for a quiet family holiday in 'real', rural Portugal - definitely worth a visit, a lovely place.
