We know how important to have an ocean relaxation and a sunny impulse to your health. After many years of traveling south of America we have settled in the area of Norfolk,VA because of many reasons : 1) sea shore is calm and so gentle that is hard to imagine you are on the ocean beach – no need to keep holding your kids` hands when you are in the water; 2)the climate here is more comfortable because of low humidity – no need to keep air conditioner on during the summer nights; 3) the long beach line gives you feeling that it is a private beach – you won`t be squeezed by others while you are swimming; 4) historical and cultural benefits in the area are endless >>>;5)our house is very cozy – 2 bed rooms , 1 bathroom, laundry with dryer, kitchen with all tools if you like to cook , tv, internet (high speed ,WiFi access), a little library with old and new magazines, and a bunch of toys for kids, a wooden gazebo ( 7x10f) to relax on backyard and make a barbecue for your family and your pets ( a pet house with separate rooms for cats and dogs); 6)the walk to the ocean takes 7-10 min on the beautiful alley of oak and pine trees , or you can always leave your car at secured public beach parking ( 300 m from the house); 7) Ocean Beach Blvd is a place where a lot of pubs restaurants café pizza houses located, the closest one (250m) is with alive music on weekends. Fishing pear - 2 km and big grocery store with organic section – 2 km; 8) great ambiance of friendly neighborhood; 9) a 30 min way to numerous attractions and fun destinations of Virginia Beach, largest attic stores in America, zoo, museums, arenas etc.
We go to Norfolk often as our daughter and her family live there. The house was pleasant, clean and more comfortable then the hotels we have stated in in the past. The best part was the price, we stayed for a week for about the same money we used to spend to stay 3 or 4 days. Also, being able to eat in more saved even more. The house is in a nice neighborhood close to the beach. It is an older house, but well kept. We were there during a very cold spell, but there were extra heaters and the house stayed comfortably warm.
The home was cute and clean. Short walking distance to the beach. The fenced in yard worked good for our dog. We would stay there again.
Marina was very nice and easy to get a hold of. Location worked perfectly for us as we had work each day in Newport News and VA beach, so it was a good half way point. Fenced in yard was great because I could bring my dog along too. The heat didn't work, but there were space heaters. They just took a little while to heat the house when we would get back each evening, so we had to keep our jackets on while it heated. After that it was comfortable. Place is a little old, and some outlets also didn't work. If I could give this a 3.5 star I would, but since I can't I am going to move toward the generous side and say 4.
We had a great week of peace and quiet at this little house. The place was clean and quiet and it had everything we needed for the week. Neighborhood was quiet and the ocean not very far, with a good public beach nearby. We were even allowed to bring our family dog for the week. I'd happily book there again for a vacation.
The house is clean but it has a stinch/lingering smell. The house is outdated and does not have modern technology except for the tv but there is not much of a channel selection. The owner is easy to get in touch with for compliments but not when there is a problem. You also have to hold the shower head while you take a shower and I hate that. The neighbors were nice though.
