Apartment, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)
I am a full time artist making illuminated shell sculpture and lampshades from natural seashells. Since 1974! I still find them absolutely beautiful. Then there's the gardens– when I need a 15 minute work break I snip and pluck, rake and squirt. As much as I love to squirt water– I shouldn't be living in California!!
Desiree purchased this Apartment in 1982
Why Desiree chose Carmel Valley
It suits me completely! When I first saw this house, as a private sale 35 yrs ago, I couldn't speak. It had just the kind of 'bones' I wanted in a house plus a killer view. Stunned disbelief. And bought it immediately.
What makes this Apartment unique
–MONTEREY BAY AQUARIUM is the #1 attraction in Monterey County. –WINE TASTING is big here because we have such an excellent wine growing appellation– ask me about the 20+ Tasting Rooms within a mile. –WILD TURKEYS and deer heavily populate the area and are wonderful to observe. –FIND AN INTERESTING BOOK and read it while you're here. Serene and Private Setting in Carmel Valley
Absolutely enjoyed my stay in the Artist' Library. The grounds are well maintained and integrated with nature. The area is quiet, serene, easily accessible and safe. A great location for me to escape the pace of Silicon Valley. The location is about a 5-minute drive to coffee, a market and a number of restaurants. It is about a 30-minute drive to downtown Carmel and a 2.5-hour drive to Big Sur. I explored them all but left time in the late afternoons to relax on the property, take in the sights and sounds of nature, see a few Turkeys and a deer and listen to the rustle of the leaves in the gentle breeze, brief moments of pure awareness.
Desiree the owner is readily available and easy to contact by text or phone. She is super friendly. We shared some interesting discussions. You will find on the property many shell lamps in the apartments that are of her creation, pretty cool. The Artist's Library does not have a stove but has a small fridge and microwave, toaster and coffee accessories. This was ideal for me as I took advantage of the restaurants around the area and in Carmel by the Sea. What was really helpful was a Notebook that is in the apartments written by Desiee that provides tips and recommendations of places to visit and recommended restaurants as well as the history of the Valley. The Tree House Apartment is fully equipped, with a kitchen if you prefer not to eat out much. There is also a small market close by if you need to get some groceries. I got a chance to tour it.
Highly recommend this VRBO and really enjoyed my stay. I
ll be back for sure.
Quite and secure
We stayed in the library. It’s a cottage with a lot of books. There’s a lot of trees and it’s gated. It was very peaceful, we would sit outside with a cup of coffee and just enjoy the morning.
Tranquil and Beautiful
What a lovely accommodation. If you love books and peace and quiet this is the place for you.
Very peaceful and lovely
Stayed here with my girlfriend for the Miata weekend at Laguna Seca. The area is incredibly serene and we were able to see some of the local deer life as well. This location stood out to me because of how beautiful everything looked, plus covered parking to protect your car from anything that might fall from the trees. Desiree was incredibly responsive to any questions we had during our stay.
Apart from the property, the surrounding area is just as lovely, and I would encourage any new visitors to explore the local shops and restaurants. For those commuting through Salinas or Monterey, you will be sure to enjoy the twisty and scenic drive on Laureles Grade Rd.
Lovely library in the Oak forest
Cool, cozy, quiet and close to town. Pay attention to Desiree’s great activity and restaurant recommendations. Comfy bed and sitting room for hanging out and listening to the crickets. Lots of extras!
I’d return in a heartbeat ......
Lovely local place experience
Enjoyed the quiet neighborhood as a jumping off point for exploring Carmel, Monterrey and Big Sur! The library cottage is in a sweet neighborhood where you can experience the Cali lifestyle first hand.
20+ Wine Tasting Rooms within 2 miles. Neighborhood open space/park 8 minutes walk. Multiple restaurants 5 minutes drive.
