Your kitchen is well-equipped and you find all the comforts needed for cozy self-sufficiency. Cable TV, wireless internet, and bicycles all included in the price.
Maya Beach is located midway down the 16 mile Placencia Peninsula in Southern Belize. Along the east side of the peninsula are white sandy beaches and the Caribbean Sea.
The west side is a mangrove filled lagoon with the majestic Maya Mountains in the background, towards Guatemala.
We are approx. 5 miles north of the Placencia airstrip, and 8 miles north of Placencia village. The main roads are paved and the side roads are well maintained and graded. We are mid-peninsula with a well stocked Belizean grocery store, world class restaurants, and a couple of beach bars located within walking distance. We are far enough away though that you can enjoy peace and quiet, while enjoying the feel of the breeze and the many different exotic bird sounds. The peninsula is flat and lends to easy comfortable bike riding, running and walking.
Flights come into the country several times a day and there are 2 smaller airlines that fly from Belize City to Placencia. It is about a 30 to 45 minute flight. You can rent a car in Belize City and enjoy the drive through the Maya Mountains on the Hummingbird Highway. The drive takes about three hours. You can also rent a vehicle in Placencia at the airport.
Reva’s Pearl is ideal for couples, families and honeymooners but will sleep 4-6 people comfortably.
The master bedroom has a queen size bed, a second bedroom with 2 twin beds and full size futon in the living room.
Inside is fully varnished hardwood, A/C in the master bedroom, ceiling fans, a floor fan, private bath with tiled shower, and hot water.
The “Pearl” is self-accommodating. We provide you with all your needed supplies like sheets, towels, beach towels, kitchen towels.
There is a washer/dryer in “the basement”. Your kitchen comes equipped with refrigerator, microwave, toaster, gas stove, coffee maker, dishes and glasses, cooking utensils, sugar, salt, pepper, and spices. A nice tradition has been started by former occupants who have left dry goods
for further use, a “pay it forward” mentality that works for everyone. As stated above, there is a grocery store just down the road There are several other grocery stores and farmers markets in Seine Bight and Placencia.
Sooo...we hope we have caught your attention and hear from you soon.
PLEASE REMEMBER, THE HOUSE IS NOT ON THE CARIBBEAN AND THIS IS THE TROPICS. There are annoying biting no see um bugs, geckos that visit and other critters Most will not bother you let alone be seen.
About the Owner
We purchased this wonderful place because we love to dive ,snorkel, sun and eat well. We found the Placencia Peninsula to fill these requirements and then some. We love the people and the place.
Please let me start by saying we have used VRBO several times in the past, 6 times in the last year and 2 pending trips, South Dakota and Mexico. We actually never spent the night in this house. We arrived to find the house not actually near the beach but across the street from the lagoon. The house yard actually looks like a beach but is actually in a neighborhood. The lagoon can barely be seen because of the jungle across the street and a large 2 story home. In the hour we were there, at least 20 dump trucks drove in front of the house to the sand pit just down the road. There is a canal behind the house but it smells like sewage. I find it hard to believe there is not even one bad review for this place. I found that the pictures for this rental are misleading as the beach is not within sight. I give it one star because Melissa Frye actually went above and beyond to help us find another place to stay. Belize is awesome!
Julie and Doug were very helpful before the trip. They stayed connected with me and answered any questions I had. Their property manager helped us during the trip with every issue we had - from getting us a taxi to recommending places to eat. The house was everything we needed. There wasn't A/C in the living room; however, we were barely at the rental, and the fans helped enough. The hammocks and bikes provided were great. If you're looking to stay in this area, stay here. It is a bit away from the village, but we enjoyed the quiet around the house.
Great place to call home in Belize.
On our recent vacation to Placencia, my boyfriend and I stayed at Rivas Pearl. I thought it was more impressive than in the pictures used to advertise it. Opening the wooden slats filled it with light in the daytime and closing them at night helped keep cool AC air inside. We enjoyed a nice cool showers on the hotter days, and mixing our own cocktails in the well stocked kitchen. Lying in the hammock on the porch facing the lagoon at sunset was a highlight, and the wild roses climbing up over the porch railing were a beautiful touch.
Melissa the property manager was very helpful and forthcoming with information. She showed us the best places to buy fresh fruits and veggies, although we found it was too hot to turn on the oven. We were also able to reach her easily whenever we had a question or need.
Staying at R.P. was a great way for us to get acquainted with Maya Beach. We rode the house bicycles all the way down into Placencia the first day, but decided we'd like to spend most of our time in the Maya Beach area after that.
We had excellent meals at nearby restaurants--Mango's, Singing Sands, Maya Beach Bistro, and The Belize Ocean Club who allowed us use of their pool and beach toys as well.
I would definitely return to Rivas Pearl for a Belizean holiday and I would encourage any family to stay there, but not to skimp on the sunscreen or bug spray, especially at night.
Left with good memories😎
Thank you for sharing your home. Everything we needed to enjoy the beach and area was provided. Chairs, bikes, cooler, towels all appreciated. Good supplies for kitchen cooking and wonderful help from Melissa. Missed the breezes from the beach but house had lots of fans and AC to use while sleeping. Left message in guest book about snorkel / dive shops and everyone who goes to this part of the country needs to eat at The Maya Beach Bistro. We rented a car through Crystal Auto and drove down ( about a 3 1/2 hour drive) and they included a cell phone in their rental. Appreciated the one at the house as well. If you fly all the way down you'll need at least a golf cart rental to make it down to town. By car it was about a 15 minute drive to Placencia. Watch those speed bumps! Good memories were had by all.
Charming, homey, well-appointed
We were charmed as soon as we entered the house. Deep woodgrains, a well-supplied kitchen with all the utensils, pots, pans etc we could use, a delightful above-ground deck complete with hummingbird feeder (and LOTS of hummingbirds), clean bathroom (no tub but a good shower) and well-maintained furniture. The house also boasts a washer and dryer at ground level. And a barbecue!
There are also two bicycles which we used regularly for rides up and down the peninsula.
The house is in easy walking distance of a small grocery store and a small cluster of good restaurants, most notably The Maya Beach Inn and Bistro to the north and Singing Sands to the south. Both allow non-guests like ourselves to use their beach and facilities.
Maya Beach is not a swinging, happening place with dancing until dawn and outstanding nightlife... it's a place to relax and recharge, enjoy the gentle breezes and the stunning night sky.
Now, bear in mind that, while the house is not in the middle of the jungle, it's also not in the middle of suburbia. Walker Road is not paved and yes there are bugs. It is, after all, the tropics and with that comes the reality of tropical life: the occasional internet outage and wildlife.
But that's the whole point of Reva's Pearl. It's a world away from the concrete and noise, which is exactly what we were looking for.
Special thanks to Melissa for her assistance.
Thank you Doug and Julie
This is an update to a review I posted about our stay in January, 2014. Our stay at Reva's introduced us to Belize in person. We had studied Belize and bought a number of books to really check it out We returned to northern Belize in August of 2015 and have recently permanently moved to Consejo Shores and are having our retirement house built by Camal and Stewart Construction. Our year and a half journey began at Reva's. The experience was so outstanding, it literally changed our lives.
The date I'm showing is the earliest one this site would let me pick.
From the Owner
“Although not on the beach, the property is protected and quiet. It is literally less than a 2 minute bike ride to the beaches. The view is of the lagoon and mountains. Beautiful sunsets.”
