About Louann Kohlbeck
Owner Photo is of Louann and her Mom on the "Sunset Bench". Our home holds volumes of precious family memories. All of us have special times here with our individual families, extended families, and friends. 'Girls week' at Christmas and in the summer draws 3 generations of moms-daughters-cousins for boating, hiking, cooking and general relaxing together. Couples weekends are also a treat as we frequently entertain friends for an activity and a meal.

Why Louann Kohlbeck chose Northport
Our parents attended The Leelanau School (near The Homestead in Glen Arbor) in the 1940's when Leelanau County was a remote and hidden jewel. As our family grew up we visited Glen Arbor for vacations and then attended camp at Leelanau-Kohahna now located on Pyramid Point - just down the shore. The county has been 'second home' for three generations now but remains 'first' in our hearts. Our home on 'Big Blue' is a true retreat where peace and tranquility abides. For those of us who enjoy 'garden therapy' we have a large and lovely place to commune with the soil and flowering plants. Our home is located on a certified 'Natural Beauty Road' just a 2-mile walk from a favorite local bar & grill on M-22 - the now famous state highway that winds its way around the perimeter of Leelanau County. Mom and Dad fell in love with this place because it was a bit off the beaten track of the tourist crowd which tends to stay closer to the National Park, and it offered a peaceful and quiet retreat.

Wonderful property and location. Peace, tranquility and lovely days/nights on water and surrounding areas. Owners are wonderful! Ideal for all ages.
Perfect place for family to reconnect
We had an incredible time with 3 generations of family during our too brief stay in this absolutely beautiful home and setting. We did not want to leave!
There is plenty of room for everyone to spread out or come together. The evening sunsets with s'mores at the fire pit generated precious memories. We will definitely come here again!
If rest & relaxation is your goal, this location is ideal. This property is situated nearby to just about any special place that Leelanau county has to offer. The private beach provides a soothing respite, especially at sunset and gatherings around a campfire. It offers a special time for anyone.
We had a fantastic time and enjoyed staying at this beautiful home on Lake Michigan.
We highly recommend this home for your vacation on Lake Michigan! We had four adults, four teenagers - and each one of us had plenty of space and privacy. This is rare for a vacation rental. Beds were super comfortable. The views are incredible, beachfront is sandy and perfect for bonfires, Petoskey stone hunting (we found dozens!) and swimming!
Amazing vacation spot!
We had such an incredible time at this gorgeous vacation house. It was very spacious with comfortable beds and ample bathrooms. My husband and I went with my parents and our two-year-old, and everyone felt like they had plenty of room to play, read, and relax without being on top of each other.
The path to the beach was tree-lined and peaceful and we saw lots of cool birds. The beach itself was very private with incredible sunset views. There was sand for our toddler to play with, and although the water was a little rocky it was not bad at all. We didn't always even use our water shoes.
One of the days we were at the house a big summer storm happened and we lost power--- except our hosts had very generously provided a huge backup generator so it didn't affect us at all. In general, Louann was super helpful and communicative. It was a pleasure working with her.
The driveway to the house is rambling and private, and the house itself is off a scenic road where lots of families are out running, walking, or riding bikes. It was fun to ride the bikes provided down the road to the local eatery. The house is also a relatively short drive into Northport, which has an awesome bakery and a playground and other fun things to do.
We'd definitely love to return another year! This spot is absolutely a gem.
Thank you for taking the time to post this lovely review!
I'm very happy you enjoyed your stay in our vacation home and we will be happy to host you again.
