Hi! My husband, Morgan, and I live in Brooklyn. I am from the Midwest and sell vintage clothing and he is British and works in the music/ad world. We adore the Catskills, traveling and our Mini Schnauzers and giant ginger cat. :)
Nickie purchased this Cabin in 2016

Cabin in the woods
A quiet cabin getaway on the edge of the mountain forest with modern conveniences. Everything works, what they claim is what you get. Esopus Creek and the Catskill Park is lovely and nearby. Boiceville is unpretentious but has everything you need, including a vet! Nickie couldn't have been a better hostess and responded in a timely way to all inquiries. Its necessary to climb outdoor stairs to come and go and indoor stairs to use the loft, best for visitors who don't mind that.
Beautiful and peaceful
Winston's cabin was everything it was advertised to be. Comfortable and well appointed with a beautiful deck and spacious interior. The close proximity to the quaint town of Boiceville made for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
All the comforts of home
Nicki’s home is a perfect mix of cabin in the woods and all the comforts of home. We were convenient to all in the Catskills,. We cooked both days we were there and the local IGA had everything we needed. There was plenty of room for our two teenage daughters and two springer spaniel pups. The beds are really comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. Nicki was easily accessible by text when we had any questions. Couldn’t ask for a more peaceful retreat!!
Yearly visit with our son.
This property was an excellent way to give our son a few days to get away from his high pressure job in the city. We all just relaxed and enjoyed each others company. The cabin was comfortable and nicely appointed, a mix of modern and rustic. I was especially impressed with all the motion detector lights, inside and out. It made getting around at anytime of the night easy and safe. The only thing I found displeasing was some of the food left behind from former occupants,. Half eaten containers of ice cream in the freezer was a little gross.
All in all, we had a good time. Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperating, so we were not able to explore the trails in the surrounding are. A somewhat less important item compared to the real mission of our visit.
The house was spotless, beds comfortable, full pantry! We brought so much stuff we didn’t need. It was like staying at a friends house, definitely going back. I think this will be our go to spot to get away a few times a year. Love my kids but next time me my sweetheart and my dogs LOL
beautiful property and private
very nice cozy cabin. My family loved it. We played board games and watched movies at night. Went skiing during the day. It was great.
The Esopus Creek is just at the bottom of the road (easiest access is at the bottom of Cold Brook Rd), known for trout fishing, you can pick up a fishing license at the Olive Country Store on Rte 28. The high school in Boiceville has a tennis court that is open to the public (5 min drive) and we have a couple of tennis rackets and balls at the cabin), the township of Olive has a public swimming pool and public library (15 min drive), the Emerson Resort has spa treatments and the world's largest kaleidoscope (15 min drive), there is a scenic old school train ride (15 mins away), the Ashokan Reservoir (20 mins away) is a lovely 5 mile walk and great place to see bald eagles, Belleayare beach (25 mins away ) is a public lake where you can swim, paddle boat, kayak or fish). There are also lots of fun things to do in the towns of Phoenicia and Woodstock (15-20 mins away).
As far as food goes, Boiceville Inn is the closest restaurant (5 mins away). They have a little bit of everything - sandwiches/pasta/pizza/bar food. Nothing fancy, just a family run place that we love. Everyone in there is super nice, it is kind of our Cheers - the bartender, Nancy, is a neighbor. Right next door is Bread Alone bakery/coffee shop. For restaurants that are a little more upscale, Peekamoose is always a crowd pleaser, about 40 mins away, but worth it, farm to table American food, they have a fire pit that you can hang around after dinner and roast marshmallows and they have a room full of toys for kids. Cucina is great Italian in Woodstock. 2 other places we like near there that do kind of American fusion are New World and Red Onion. For breakfast or lunch, Phoenicia Diner is awesome, just be prepared to wait, totally worth it. :)
IGA (The Boiceville Market), a liquor store and pharmacy are in a little shopping complex less than 5 mins away (on Rte 28). There is a post office one complex over.
My favorite is the Overlook Mountain hike, about 30 mins from the cabin. It is pretty easy, a steady incline, wide trail and amazing view at the top.
