I leave you to your privacy , unless you really require somebody. I have a cat name Hopi . ( after the native tribe Hopi Indian ). He has his own door and has eventually greeted every guest i have had. Versus me , who I met but a few. I am a good friend of Destiny.. update -I accept pets , I take Hopi elsewhere.
Why Owner chose Argens-Minervois
Everyting about the area is appealing. You are on a 353 year old canal - CanalduMidi . The terrace is nearly at water level. It is mostly quiet , the road is on the other side of the canal and it is a small one. Houseboat Artis is moored to one of the largest surviving plane trees on the canal. Also a huge Mulberry tree , Agave Plants, and pampas grass. A hiking path just in front and bicycles pass by on the other side frequently in season.
What makes this House Boat unique
It is the perfect place to base yourself to see the area . Be it , Carcassonne Castle (20 miles) or Gruisssn (20 miles) to the beach and where you can find oysters and shrimp and even the sea salt factory. Plenty of Cathare Castles in the area . A little bar in the village and 2 places to eat during season. The train station is 4 miles away and the Lezignan and Olonzac Markets are weekly and just 4 miles as well..

The Picture Almost Says It All
I spent 4 days on the boat a few days ago. Sitting out on the back deck area with a glass of wine watching the boats go by has been one of the most enjoyable and relaxing things I have ever done, and is definitely the highlight of a stay here. John checked in on me frequently when he wandered by, and was a tremendous help with information on the area. If you are nice to him, you might also get some of his delicious spelt bread, which I ate with some goat cheese on one of those afternoons on the deck.
The kitchen is well furnished and has all the plates, utensils, and appliances you could want. My only caveat on the boat is that you have to know what you are getting and be OK with that in advance. John has perfectly described the place. But read carefully - it is not for everyone. It does not have a large sitting area with a big TV, and the bathroom requires some manual operation. But if you enjoy life on the river, it is a delightful place. And it just short walk away from a couple of restaurants and a grocery store. Which makes it all the more convenient,
Thanks for everything, John!
