Why Brian Smith chose Colton
We are an owner run and managed cottage who take a real pride in providing a quality service and cottage. Our caretaker does a superb job in getting Woodside ready for our visitors and our location is fabulous for exploring the Lakes. Woodside is so near High Dam and lake Windermere, we can stroll there on a Summer's evening and take the view in. So relaxing, or sit in cosy comfort in Oscar's cafe at Lakeside and watch the constantly unfolding scene on the Lake , magical. Our aim is to make your stay as luxurious and comfortable as possible. In equipping our cottages we have chosen high quality furnishings and fixtures and we have tried to provide everything you will need to have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Each room at our cottage has been meticulously designed with a unique colour scheme and furnishings. We have just three bedrooms at Woodside , which means we can pay attention to every detail. Many guests say we have thought of everything, I hope you would agree. We are a small business so it’s easy for us to combine a personal touch with high standards . Every inch of our rooms were designed and crafted by us using quality, hand-selected furnishings and colour coordinated schemes. We wanted our accommodation to ooze warmth and comfort to ensure you have a memorable stay. All rooms have quality carefully selected beds for a good night’s sleep and topped with layers of quality linen to sink into at the end of the day. You’ll also be treated to fluffy towels at Woodside . You can unwind with free wifi, or simply sit at the table by the window with a tea, coffee or wine and play games. What could be better? Oh, and did I mention the gardens? You’ll be surprised at what wanders or swoops across them. And of course I must mention the peace and quiet. Woodside is in peaceful location with plenty of bird song to enjoy! Deer, pheasant and wild ducks are often seen at the cottage!

Many thanks for writing your review
Lovely peaceful week.
Woodside Cottage is cosy and very comfortable with plenty of room for six of us and a dog. There is everything you would need in the kitchen and lots of books and games for the children and a wealth of information on the area. We did many of the local walks (the dog was walked to High Dam morning and evening and we felt she made it her own). We scrambled up to Gummer’s How and up Hoad Hill in Ulverston and walked the canal there. Bowness, Ambleside, Hawkshead and many more places - lots of suggestions for local walks in the cottage.
Beds were extremely comfortable and we all slept very well. Everything was clean and to a high standard and Alison and Brian were very helpful. We would recommend Woodside Cottage and the beautiful countryside around it.
So glad ypu had a great holiday. Thanks for the mug it's lovely.
Hope you will consider visiting Woodside in the future

I do hope you will consider returning to Woodside in the future.
Our 2 weeks at Woodside Cottage were quite wonderful. The cottage was great & provided everything we needed in comfort. There is so much you can do without even getting in the car & more a short drive away.
Hi Jennie so pleased you found Woodside to be a great location. We do hope you return to Woodside in the future.
Beautiful homely cottage
The cottage is a lovely place, with more than enough room for six people and everything you need inside. It's very cosy and homely. Check in and out is extremely straightforward, and Brian and Alison contacted to ensure everything was going smoothly (it was). They also provided plenty of information on things to do and places nearby, which is a very nice touch. We enjoyed a lovely stay in the Lake District and this place made it all the more comfortable. Thanks :)
Cozy and comfortable
The welcome pack was a nice introduction to a cozy comfortable cottage on the quiet side of the lake.
A good selection of games for the family to play round a warm log fire.
Hi Neil and Michele
Many thanks for your lovely review. We are so pleased you enjoyed the welcome pack: Hawkshead Relish produce and some Kendal Mint cake is a real taste of the Lakes!
Hope we can welcome you back in the future
