So is the Puget Consumer Co-op, a wonderful natural foods grocery that is amply stocked with everything from wine to ice-cream.

And then there is the shopping: bookstores, boutiques galore, music and flower shops, and the farmers market. The Burke Gilman Trail (42 miles in unbroken length!), wonderful for biking or walking, is a short walk away and borders the scenic water-way between Lake Union and the Puget Sound. Gea is originally from Ohio and moved to Seattle in 2004. This is Gea's only rental property in Seattle. Gea lives just outside of the city proper with her two cats, four chickens and pretty darn big organic garden.

A beautiful house in a nice part of town

  • 5 of 5

This place has everything you might want -- a well-appointed kitchen, a big, comfy bed, fast wifi, and a big TV. Gea responded quickly to all my questions. All of Fremont, including the Woodland Park Zoo, is easily walkable, and there are multiple bus stops to take you anywhere else in the city you might want to go (Pike Place, Bellevue, etc.). The chickens were adorable and greeted me cheerily every morning. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

Great place to stay - Fremont is a fun place and you are not far from downtown or Queen Anne.

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gea's place. It was roomy and well equipped for the two of us and plenty of space when friends came over for a cookout. Her yard is unique and interesting. One piece of advice - the driveway is very steep and hard to get back out of with traffic. If you back in the driveway it is much easier to get out in traffic going forward. We would definitely stay there again!

Cozy

We love to stay at Gea's house. it was well located, near the market, near to a really good coffee bar. The house is perfect, good bed, restroom, living area and kitchen. It was easy to find a place to parking the car.

Clean but not focused on guest needs.

  • 2 of 5

This apartment was clean and it had mostly everything you would need. There were 3 adults and a toddler staying there so we needed to use the pullout couch. There were no sheets for it so we ended up using a comforter to cover it. Not a big deal but not convenient. Pullout was ok. There was only four towels for four people for four days. I'm just glad there was never a spill or we would have had to go to the laundry mat. The shower had wonderful water pressure. There was also only one roll of toilet paper. The curtain rod in the living room was broken so if you pulled the curtain open the whole thing would fall. Plus the curtains are very thin. The location is ok. It's on a very busy road and the driveway is steep. Probably wouldn't stay again.

el rey in Seattle

  • 5 of 5

This clean, efficient, safe flat was a perfect fit for the week my wife and I did relocation recon in Seattle. The flat has everything needed to prepare meals and has a dining table for four. Even though the home is on a major artery for the city, at night with the windows closed, it is most peaceful. We could listen to music at low levels and read without intrusive traffic noise. We had a car for our stay to drive to different neighborhoods and then walk through those particular 'hoods. There is parking in the driveway, but we chose to park on the side streets and never had an issue finding close, safe parking for the rental car. There are many solid choices for eateries and grocery shopping within a three minute walk. Ken's Marketplace is a well stocked market with fresh fruits and veggies with a good organic section, a nice cheese selection, and a large local beer selection. Uneeda burger has some interesting looking burgers available. We had the veggie burger and this could have been the best we have had. Not some store bought gardenburger disc, but an actual hand made blend featuring wheat berries. Great tooth and hearty. There are several other restaurants in this three block walk that are fun and imaginative. Paseo Caribbean, Ha, Pecado Bueno. Check them out. There is also a local musical instrument store. Whenever traveling, I like to go to local music stores to check for interesting used guitars. It's also great to chat with the salespeople that are clued into the local musical happenings. With a 12 to 15 minute walk, you could walk to either business district of Fremont or Wallingford for even more food and shopping choices. Try Jhanjay vegetarian Thai place in Wallingford. Amazing. They also have a spot in Ballard. Different menu, still good. This home is in a great location to center your vacation from while in Seattle. Gea is very communicative and can offer assistance very quickly. Thanks Gea! The home is close to downtown (Pike Market or the Sculpture Garden) with a drive and walk time of about 20 minutes. Ballard is also close by and offers many breweries and some distilleries offering local sourced products. The Burke-Gilman trail travels along the bay and is a primary travel route for cyclists and runners. Rent a bike and ride the Burke. You can enjoy great views of the city. This home was a great choice for us and we hope it can also be a great choice for you to consider.

Amenities

From the Owner

Many of the lovely families that stay with us email us (after their stay) with great things to say! - especially because of the location (only 5 blocks from the Seattle Zoo) and food across the street/coffee shops only 5 blocks West of the house (all walking distance). The home is on Aurora Ave N - which is a main road in Seattle (and one of the perks of the location). This is an urban environment, not a rural location, however, so keep that in mind! Our home is 1.5 miles from Pike Place Market (and downtown Seattle). The home also has free private driveway parking and double pane windows. The studio area of the home - which is 450sqft - has been fully remodeled with brand new floors, paint - and all new furniture (in January of 2013). All of our furniture is Crate and Barrel furniture; we focus on 'clean, simple, and comfortable' for the feel of our home. We have opted toward a contemporary (rather than thrift store decorated) decorating style.
